I went to menards up in Bloomington and I was looking for a new dryer I was looking to see if they had the whirlpool duet and they did it was on sale for $599.00 for electric when I asked about gas it was $400.00 more! I can understand $50.00-$100.00 but 400.00 dollars more is outrageous!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

Hey... "Valerie" give it a break.
Your dumping on TOO many people, this time for nothing.
Gas stoves are WAY more expensive to build, harder to control,
more safety requirements and less volume of sales.
AND for the above reasons already stated by others, the price is easily
much higher. AND you admitted that the electric one was 'on sale'.
So why the big 'outrageousness" of the gas unit price?
IF you really are... an 'investigative journalist" then to be
fair you must Investigate BEFORE journalizing ! ;-)

I'm gonna guess the gas was Special Order and not on sale... which means this person thinks Menards is discriminating against gas dryer owners... when in reality they just hate left handed people.
Also, I fail to see how this is either a fraud or a scam. At worst it is an unreasonable price disparity, and I really don't think it is even that.
1. As Helping Out stated, gas appliances are always higher than electric appliances, and sometimes the difference is significant. And special order items are generally higher than stock items.
2. It is possible that on the day you shopped, the electric unit was on sale and the gas unit wasn't. Or perhaps they were both on sale but the sale tag for the gas model was missing.
3. If the retail on the gas dryer is $400 more than the electric, then Menards' cost is probably also $400 higher. I think you should be complaining about Whirlpool, not Menards.
look at all gas products and you will see that they are more expensive, but in the long run they will save you money. On top of that the gas dryer was a special order.
