On July 8th at approx. 12:00 pm, I was with my wife and son at the Menards at 300 Mariln Dr, Greenwood, IN. I was there to get shelves and for the most part got what I needed. I needed dry wall anchors, so my family and I went to the hardware dept. I asked a young man for help and he told me "they would be in one of these three isles". Which is basically all the hardware dept. I asked if the young man could get some help of find out where they are since I knew they would be in one of those isles without asking, but did not want to spend an hour searching for what I needed. The young man told me that he did not work in the department and walked away. My wife and I were shocked at his response and behavior. I proceeded to search the aisles trying to look for them and I found another employee who was actually trying to help, but did not know where they were located. She asked Rachel the hardware Manager for assistance, but Rachel refused to help the employee that was trying to help me. I then informed Rachel that she could show me where they are, but she ignored me and refused to assist me and my family. A customer was watching this and was also disgusted with Rachel's behavior and told me that he would try to help me because he thought he remembers where they were after purchasing some a few weeks ago. It is extremely sad that a customer who saw Rachel's behavior was having to assist me rather than an employee of Menards. At that time, I asked the employee that was actually trying to help for a store manager. Jason arrived and I informed him of the situation, but he acted very unconcerned about Rachel's behavior. Jason insinuated that it was my fault that Rachel acted the way she did, I was confused and puzzled by this response from the Store manager, Jason. It was clear that Rachel and Jason were trying to single me out as if they were trying to discriminate against me for some reason. Since Jason was unconcerned about Rachel's behavior, I informed him next time I will just film the incident on my phone so that I can forward it to Menards cooperate office. Jason informed me that if I did something like that he would have me criminally trespassed from the store and that he is the Store manager and he can trespass anybody for any reason. I do not know why I was treated this way, as if my family and I were some type of criminals. I simply got what I needed and left as quickly as possible. Before I left I asked for Rachel's name from Jason and initially he refused to give it to me. I had to ask 4 more times before Jason was willing to give me Rachel's name prior to me leaving. As I was leaving, Jason pointed to his name tag and said, "my name is Jason" in a very arrogant and condescending manner. It almost seemed as if he was trying to insinuate if I filed a corporate complaint, nothing would happen to Rachel or Himself for his inappropriate conduct and behavior. I understand the complaint will probably go to the store manager Jason, I just hope that you have someone above him to review this complaint and I hope there will be consequences for Rachel and Jason because of their responses and behavior. Is it your corporate policy to trespass someone for documenting and incident that occurred inside a Menards store? According to Jason, if I do this in the future, he would have me criminally trespassed from Menards as if I am some type of criminal. I don't know why my family and I were singled out in this way and treated in this manner, but I hope you take this complaint seriously because I am documenting this for my records. If your store manager and employees single me out in this type of manor again, I will explore my options with legal counsel. I go to Home Depot quite a bit for my small business and Lowes, and I have never been treated in this manner at those stores. Home Depot does an extremely good job on customer service and helping me with anything I need at that store.
