After purchasing a top, I found the fit was not quite right with the blazer and pant suit I planned to pair it with and I planned to return it. It was purchased on July 7, and with summer camp, family vacation and back to school I just got around to returning tot today. Never did I consider this would be a problem, it has only been a few weeks. Apparently Dillard’s has a very strict 30 day policy. Not only would they not refund my money despite the tags being attached and having my original receipt (the item was every still in the original store bag) over a 4 day difference, the cashier was very indifferent and aloof, saying I was lucky the system was even offering me a gift card for the return. I was not aware of this “policy” but even so, the customer service was poor. This could have been handled with a smile and friendly explanation. Instead I was made to feel like I was a nuisance for not reading the fine print on the back of my receipt. My drivers license was loaded on the system like I needed to be on some kind of list, despite having me original receipt. In hindsight, I should not have allowed that needless invasion of yymy privacy. Needless to say I will not be shopping a Dillard's again. There are so many great places to shop with flexible policies, and if you are going to be this rigid (4 days, tags abs receipts attached) then you need to be on point with customer service. I will certainly spend my money elsewhere in the future.
Desired outcome: Would like gift card value refunded to my original form of payment.
