This negative experience occurred on the day after Memorial Day 2022, being May 31st Tuesday. I had chosen a local business to where I was at the time after noticing a tire on the vehicle I was operating appeared to have been very low on air, possibly going flat. Before driving the vehicle, I had the tire in question replaced with the spare. I had arrived at the establishment located at 8511 Annapolis Road, New Carrollton, MD 20784 at approximately 10:45 a.m. and requested that the removed tire be repaired, if salvageable, and to check the air pressure in the other tires as well. The vehicle was driven into a service bay at approximately 12:45 p.m. and was driven back out at approximately 1:15 p.m.. The tire was (supposedly) "patched/plugged", thus being repaired and made roadworthy. It was a great reassurance that I did not have to replace it with a new tire, given that the other three tires were "old" as well and still of an adequate tread. I was charged around $40.00 for the service and drove off the premises only to drive across a main road and into an adjacent neighborhood, then into a driveway less than one mile away. The following day as the vehicle sat throughout, I noticed that the "repaired" tire appeared to be in the same condition as before, very low on air (becoming flat). I called ahead to that location, gave explanation, and had returned the following morning just prior to the start of business (first customer, mind you).
After around a forty minute wait, I was then told that tire (now) had a nail in the sidewall (huh?) and was thus unrepairable. Given that nothing is absolute, but the likelihood of incurring a "nail into the sidewall" while on the roadway to my destination in a residential low speed zone, is essentially an "improbability". The business now tried to sell me a new tire instead and (surprisingly) offered me a credit for the cost of the earlier transaction. I surely became leery and requested a refund (credit) for the seemingly "no service" I had already been charged for. It was refused and I just had the establishment install the spare tire in place of the (now) unrepairable tire and went my way. I done "chalked it up", took the rip off, cut my losses and sought business elsewhere. Even though I cannot substantiate this meticulous observation, but I had looked along the entire tread of the tire in question and could not locate any type of patch/plug along the surface therein. I understand that other victims, I meant customers, have been manipulated into greater financial ruins than I, but the principle remains unchanged. Good news spreads like honey and how sweet it is, whereas bad news spreads like toxin and that is my plight. Just Tires, in my opinion, is Just Tyrants. To that end, You Reap What You Sow... Desired outcome: I request, and wish to be granted, a credit (refund) towards the credit card account which was charged for the "service". Thank You.
