I purchased a lawn mower from Menards, 500 N Eastgate Ave Springfield, MO 65802 location on 4/1/23. The same day, the lawnmower stopped working and began spraying gasoline from the primer valve. I immediately returned to the store where I was told that they would not return it because their policy is to not take returns once fluids are added. This was never disclosed in advance and quite frankly it’s impossible to know there’s a gas leak until you put gas in it. Instead they told me I would have to go to a mower repair shop 25 miles away to have them verify that it was defective and gave me their business card. When I went to see the mower repair service, he told me that he doesn’t know why Menards keeps sending people there and saying that because it isn’t true and he’s asked Menards to stop many times. I returned to the store and spoke with the store manager who simply regurgitated the same ridiculous policy while simultaneously agreeing with me that the policy is ridiculous. Now I’ve contacted coporate customer service who tells me I have to deal with the store I bought it from. Menards is a disgusting business that literal will steal hundreds of dollars from you and ignore your complaints completely. Nobody should be subject to this atrocity.
Desired outcome: Return mower and have my money rightfully returned.
