View all 550 complaintsThe Pep Boys - Engine light day after service!!!
I drop my car off on the 29 Dec 2021 at 9:00 am appointment schedule. The appointment was for a squeak noise and lights. I was told I needed a engine diagnostic done on my car the day I made the appointment. After I drop my car off I got a call later that day saying I needed bushings and fuel cleaning, ok and if I wanted my lights done that my bumper have to be removed that would be another 200.00, I told her I would take my car back to the place that did the lights. I agreed to that after all they are the professional. I call them back on the 31 Dec 2021 to get an update on my car and was told that they were waiting on the car parts to come in it maybe sat. It maybe mon. Mon. No call I stop by on Tues the 4Jan 2022 and was told by the clerk the part was not in and the person I needed to talk to was on their way to work could I wait I said no, in return he stated he would let her know to call me when she got into work. I was given a call once that person came in and was told that my car was misdiagnosed by the mechanic now I needed lower control arms ok I'm good with that they would just eat the bushings so the total went from 750.00 to 1483.00 I was told the car would be ready the next day 5 Jan. 2022 it was (paid in full). I took the car to the place that did my lights 5 Jan. Pick it up the 6 Jan, notice my engine light was on, so I stop by pep boys the same one I'm paid in full on the 5 Jan to have someone check the engine light. When the clerk look up I told her what the problem was and that the car was in their shop for a week I just pick it up yesterday. Before the clerk could give me a good answer the other clerk jumps in who was helping another customer at the time, she did not excused herself from the customer she was helping, she just took over the conversation with me. I was told that all the people that do engine check lights had left for the night 6:00pm but they would do a code. I was told to pull up to the first bay. Instead of pulling up I pull in and was told by the same clerk that if I did not leave the bay that I would have to pay, I told her I would leave the bay and she could go back inside not realizing she was talking about my car. The Tec was already with his box todo the code I think he was a little confuse too. So I did back out, so the Tec could do the code, by that time I wanted management info she proceeded to tell he would be out until next week because he was expecting twins. So I ask for district manager info she stated that I could come back inside for that info after the Tec finish. The code (air intake) I was told by the clerk that the engine diagnostic/comp vehicle inspection had nothing todo with the code I got air intake that was like turning a light switch on and off. I did let her know that she did not have good customer service skills and she was rude, I ask for her name Bridgette I did ask for a last name can not remember what she said. By that time I was still asking for district manager info she told me to look it up online I told her this was not good business practice. As I proceeded to get in my car I did let her know this is a bunch of bull?. Being spouse of military this has been one of the worst experience try to get something as simple as an engine light fix from picking up the car from the day before. If this the way Bridgette was train for customer service for pep boys shame on you as a business.
Desired outcome: I WANT MY ENGINE LIGHT WORK ON!!!
