View all 550 complaintsThe Pep Boys - Date: 07/05/2023. Pep boys store id #1689. Service work order #2081869. Appointment at 1pm. I showed up for my appointment at 12:50pm.
I reported to the Service Manager at the front desk that I needed an oil change and an inspection for registration. About 45 minutes later, the Service Manager guy came to me in the lobby and told me I needed their new windshield wipers ($71.98) and a new tire. He said their was a nail in it. It was irreparable ($264.00 + Tire installation $56.47). My tires were fairly new. I hardly drive my car. My current mileage is 74,176 (odometer). Total bill was $502.35. Added charges included. He was somewhat forceful. In frustration, I said leave the tire. Five minutes later he returned and told me, I can’t pass inspection unless I have it done. I felt pressured and very uncomfortable. I said, go ahead. I noticed two customers came in for service and left before me. When I paid for my service, he apologized and blame the delay on a new guy. I departed around 3pm. I felt I was taken advantage of. I’ve been with Pep Boys at least 10 years and never experienced this. I refuse to return. One of the two customers was an elderly lady, my senior, whom he tried to talk her into getting extra work done on her vehicle (brake pads). She called her husband to talk to him. They refused. My invoice and receipt is attached.
Desired outcome: Take my business somewhere else.
