I went into the Rite Aid Pharmacy on 1303 woodbury ave in Portsmouth, NH 2 weeks ago to fill a couple prescriptions that my doctor prescribed so I go through the drive through to give them the scrip's and then they said to come back in about a half hour so I did. I waited in my car. Then when I went back I went inside to pick them up and they told me that they weren't covered by my insurance because I had just switched to a new insurance and they needed a pre authorization so I had to wait for my doctors office to open the next day so they can order the pre authorization. In the meantime I needed my meds so I asked how much it would be for one of my medications if I pay cash they told me like $50 but I couldn't afford that so I said I need to figure this out and I will come back.. So a while later I come back and tell them I can only afford half so they said okay come back in about a half hour and it will be ready for you. So I said ok and then I waited in my car once again then I came back through the drive through to receive my meds I used a discount card as well. The pharmacist took his sweet time getting things ready then when he came back he said okay its $27.13 for 42 pills so I paid and signed and then took my meds and went home. A little while after getting home I took my meds out and counted them in front of my mom and my boyfriend because it is a controlled substance and I wanted to make sure everything was correct. Everything was exactly how it should of been so then 2 weeks goes by when its time for me to receive my other half of my script so I call my doctor and they call the pharmacy, the pharmacy said that they actually gave me the whole prescription when they actually didn't. They say its on camera that they counted out 84 pills and put it in the bottle and that the manager never re-counted the pills but he only switched the bottle label before he gave it to me and he said that he only realized that he did that when the inventory was short a couple days later. No one ever called me to see if I had the pills or to even tell me that there was a problem. They just assumed I had them. When I went in to talk with the pharmacist in person about this problem he told me that he could get loss prevention involved if I wanted so I said ok but he called them and then told me that loss prevention was not in the area today. Then I explained how I counted my pills and that this is not my fault its theirs and all that he had this attitude and was huffing and puffing as I was talking which was very rude and makes me think something fishy is going on. I asked the pharmacist if there was a supervisor or manager available in the store to talk to and he said No actually he is not in today and even if he was he does not deal with anything in the pharmacy. So I found the manager that was not supposed to be there and I talked with the manager of the store and he said he was going to watch the video with the pharmacist. I got a call later in the day from the manager saying that he viewed the video and said the same thing as the pharmacist so then I asked why they never contacted me or anything and he said that he had already had loss prevention there investigating and that the investigation has already ended a couple days ago BUT if that was so they should have contacted me anyway and if they already had an investigation why would the pharmacist tell me that he COULD get loss prevention involved if I wanted. The whole thing is fishy to me. They waited until I was out of meds and needed the rest of my pills to say anything. Now its causing me to suffer and be in pain and be without my meds for days while this is getting figured out and everyone is now looking at me like I'm a drug addict or something when I am not and never have been. I always take my meds as prescribed and I am currently pregnant and I was on the meds before I knew I was pregnant so I couldn't just stop or I could miscarry but these meds are safe to take while pregnant well meaning its safer to keep taking them instead of stopping. My provider and I researched it together. As this is still going on and I have talked with a lawyer already and contacted the corporate office of Rite Aid. I will get to the bottom of this. All this stress I'm under is NOT okay for me or my baby I'v been having cramps and everything. Some people might just let things like this slide but not me! There is probably some details I left out because there is a lot to say but that is the main story. If I were you I would NOT get your prescriptions filled here! Oh and by the way that pharmacist is still working there and it angers me that he was not fired because clearly he did something wrong and there is no room for anything to go wrong with people's medications! Trust me something will be done about this.
