24 Hour Fitness - treatment at check in 4440 tropicana, las vegas nv 89121

I have been a member of 24 Hour Fitness since shortly after moving to Las Vegas in 1992. I have attended classes at most of the locations on the east side; Charleston, Molasky, Wigwam, Green Valley Ranch, Eastern and Sahara (when open) and recently the new location at Mountain Vista and Tropicana. I was a paying member for many years and have been a Medicare Benefit member since 2011.

Until today I have been treated with courtesy, kindness, friendliness and helpfulness.

Today I attended the 11:45 am Silver and Fit class at the Mountain Vista location. I entered my phone number and put my finger on the fingerprint pad. As sometimes happens, it did not register my print. So I entered my phone number again and my fingerprint, still no dice. At this point I asked one of the three people at the front desk if they could just check me in. I have done this at every location I mentioned above with no problem whatsoever. At every other location, including this one until today, this was greeted with the friendly response of "Sure, no problem" or "We've got you Sandra, go on in."

At this location today however I was told by the guy checking me in that I needed to change my fingerprint, which I have already done twice before. I said why can't you just check me in, and was told that to do that would inconvenience the entire staff plus cause an unnecessary delay to all the other people trying to check in. There were three people at the front counter. No one was checking in but me. No one was to the left, right or behind me or coming in the door.

Except for the exceptional rudeness of this individual I may have done that but instead I just went on into class.

On my way out of class, a friend that had arrived later than me was telling me what a hard time she had getting into the club. She said her fingerprint didn't register and the guy at the front gave her a huge hassle about changing her fingerprint. This incensed a third friend who insisted we go up and confront the guy. Which we did. He went in to a huge story about fingerprints and how we could only be admitted with a working fingerprint or a membership card which is total BS because on every occasion when I enter my phone number, my ID and PAID status comes up on your computer and I am greeted by name. When my friend and I tried to tell this to your employee he stood there with crossed arms, unconcealed contempt and a put-upon look on his face as "allowed" us to speak.

Is this the person you want as the face of your company?

He wore no name tag so I regret I don't have his name but as I am sure your scheduling records will allow you to identify him. He is short, balding, lightly bearded, white, fit and totally obnoxious. By his posturing and attitude I think he was probably the manager of the club, with delusions of being King of the Universe.

Retraining this Individual in common courtesy would be my suggestion. Or relocation to a third world country. Either works for me.
