Wow!

I'm reviewing all these comments and I'm not sure as to how to react to them. I'm an employee at a Party City store in Canada.
I would like to share my experience with you readers. I care about "Johnnies" birthday party. I find enjoyment in assisting parents with their birthday party needs. Customers will ask me for suggestions. They embrace my ideas and suggestions. Parents feed off of my excitement for them and visa versa.

Weddings can be a little tricky. I keep in mind that my customer, the bride, may go zilla on me if I don't have what she is looking for. Therefore, I will exhaust every avenue prior to informing her that I do not have that product. I will contact other stores. I will check to see if that product is available on line. There have been times a the bride and I would utilize google from our phones to find her product at another retailer. Most of the time the requests are inquires of cake masters. I've referred a few to a lady whom I used to know who has a cake business!
So for the employee of Part City who doesn't care about Johnnie's little party. Perhaps you should care please? Little Johnnie didn't do you wrong. Therefore, why make a kid suffer for your hatred towards Party City?

From experience as a cashier at Party City, I agree Party City does need to be much more clearer on their return policy. Take a look at a Party City receipt. If you pay via cash, the receipt will reflect same. If you pay via card, the receipt will read Fran Charg. The receipt issued to a customer from Party City will not indicate what type of card and the last four digits. For this information, you must rely on the debit machine receipt. This is where Party City needs to pull up their socks. Due to fraudulent returns, Party City will refund cash when same method was paid. However, if you pay by card the refund must be refunded to same card of original purchase. That is if you kept your paper receipt and terminal receipt. If you only produce the Party City receipt for your return on a purchase paid via card, then PC will issue you a in-store credit. Here is when things become tricky, customers complain to me about, and I could not agree more with them. Should a customer lose their receipt then it shouldn't be a problem for a return, because the customer provided their email address for a back up receipt right? Not as simple as it reads. Again, if the email receipt indicates paid cash, then he will be refunded the cash. If the electronic receipt reads Fran charge then the customer will receive an in-store credit. A very large number of customers express their thoughts surrounding this. I agree with them. Party City needs to resolve this issue. All Party City has to do is add a few lines to their electronic copy indicating card and last four digits. It might take a little investing on Party City's behalf, but it would be a great idea. Considering they do not indicate that very little bit of important info when a customer reads our return policy from the mats at the tills.

For those of you who are complaining about the helium. Let me help you better understand. Party City uses 50/50. 50 air and 50 helium. Party City in Canada provides a guarantee of 24 hours. If you purchase latex balloons and opt out on "Hi-Float" (additional costs apply) then the balloons will not have as much longevity compared to a latex with "Hi-Float". Please consider the weather, too. That plays a huge factor.

I'm sorry to hear about the experience customers have experienced within the stores. Myself, speaking as an employee, have experienced difficulty with some co-workers. I've experienced name calling and bullying. The majority of the employees are young, and really do not care about what is required to make a team unite and become strong with completing tasks or unite as a team so the company thrives. I experience discrimination. If I noticed John slacking on his task, and I bring that to management's attention. I'm the one punished for not being a "Team player" all because I complained about performance. This is where Party City must take accountability for poor customer service. If Party City pays the minimum to abide by employment standards, then customers feel the affects. It is sad, but very true.

My favourite time of year at Party City is October. As previously mentioned, I love to help people. It is within my nature. To assist people in life no matter what their circumstances may be was instilled within me at a very young age. if you have yet to shop at Party City for Halloween it can be an overwhelming experience. I've seen the fear on a "newbie" customer's face. I'm three years running on that experience. Therefore, I will seek out the customers who want to ask but are way to overwhelmed to inquire. I will walk then down ever aisle. I will provide my services to them as a personal shopper and hear them out on all their questions. Within less than 5 minutes I can have a customer feeling as if they belong to the Party City family. Back in the nineties I was employed with Holt Renfrew. I utilize my skills from that experience. Because, I want them to leave my store as if they were shoppers on Rodeo drive. Isn't the point of customer service based on conversion? A customer may not make a purchase and that's ok. Too many retailers think that as a loss of a potential sale. I view the loss as conversion. They will be back. The customer will return because of their experience with me.
To sum all this up. The grass is greener on the otherside. Depending on which side right? I experience the good and bad from both the company and the customers. Thank you

I go to walmart and buy their clear plastic in the material dept. They cut it to the size you want.. It is a heavy plastic. The only ones you can get it at is the ones that still sell material.
