Avenue Stores - fraudulent activities

On December 3, 2014 I visited the above mentioned location to purchase jewelry accessories as Christmas gifts. After taking my purchases to the counter for checkout the store clerk asked me if I would be interested in FREE magazines and I replied NO!
She said "..but they are free and you don't have to pay for them!. I replied "..I don't care, I don't want it" the store clerk went on for at least an additional 5 minutes trying to get me to agree to a magazine subscription. Oh please Ms. Bynes, take the magazines because they are free and it won't cost you anything! By this time I am angry because NO means NO and I simply want to take my purchases and leave. At some point she finally gets the message that I am not interested, then tells me that I have to sign some sort of form. I replied " I don't have to sign anything and I am not signing anything." The clerk goes on for at least another 5 minutes telling me that I have to sign her form. By this time I am sizzling with anger and her manager has an attitude because I will not sign the form and she marches behind the counter and collects the form from the clerk while mumbling under her breath, then says " she don't have to sign it!" I collected my purchase and left the store. Three months later I get a statement from avenue with a charge of $31.00 and some change. I go back to the store and I see the same clerk and manager. The manager lies and says that she was not present when the incident occurred 3 months ago and I promptly reminded her that she was present and reminded her of exactly how she responded to the situation. I asked for the cost of the magazine subscription to be removed from my account and she goes on and on about how she cannot do anything and that she cannot call the home office to have the cost removed. The manager then slides a brochure over the counter saying "..call this number to cancel the subscription!." I argue that I should not have to be inconvenienced to correct something that she and her store clerk should not have done in the first place.
During this conversation a customer steps out of the check out line and tells me that the same thing happened to her.
I leave the store and go to my car and call the Maple Heights Police department and asked if an officer could be sent to the store to settle the situation. The dispatcher suggested that since I had already left the store, I should come in to file a police report.
I went to the Maple Heights Police Department to file a police report but the dispatcher told me that I came during the change of shift so I would have a wait so I did not stay as I had an appointment. I called the Avenue customer service department and was told that the matter would be referred to their support team and that someone would call me an 2 days. I am still awaiting that return call. I called the Avenue Stores LLC in Rochelle, NJ and was told that the CEO no longer worked for the company and I asked for the human resources director and was told she was no longer employed by the company then I asked for the CEO's successor and was told that without his name I could not be connected. I also learned that The Avenue stores was owned by another corporation Versa Capital Management and I placed a call to them as well and I was greeted by an automated response unit. "PLEASE PRESS 1 FOR THE DIRECTORY" after following the prompts I was connected to an extension and the phone automatically disconnected. I thought that perhaps there may have been a problem with my phone so I called an additional 6 times and got the exact same occurrence. I am very disappointed by the lack of interest that this company has shown as well as the blatant fraudulent practices of its employees. It is unlawful to willingly assess charges to a customers account without consent when no purchase has been made by the customer or when a service has not been provided.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

I purchased several items online and the DAY after I received both orders (they were shipped separately), I had to return most of the items because they did not fit. I went to the store in Centereach NY to do the return. I absolutely LOVED 3 of the tops I bought, but they were just too big and I didn't think I could shrink them to fit me. Online, I paid $10 EACH for them, for a total of $30. After I got my refund, I decided to shop and found ONE of the same tops I just returned; mind you, I had NOT EVEN LEFT THE STORE YET after having returned items! When I got to the register, I was told this top scanned at $20. I told her I JUST RETURNED 3 of these for $10 each! How can you now charge me $20? It was the SAME EXACT TOP! She replied, "I'm sorry, but this store policy, not mine!" I was FUMING! SO...check it out: I paid a total of $30 ONLINE for the same 3 tops (different colors), and they PLACED THEM BACK ON THE RACK at $20 a piece: DOUBLE THE PRICE I PAID FOR THEM ONLINE. She told me they were "on sale with 25% off." I DID buy the shirt--for 5 dollars MORE than I spent a week before! I told her that this company is filled with scam artists. I left, and I won't be returning. NOT EVER! And I used to order a heck of a lot from them. I know where I'm shopping from here on in and it WILL NOT be at Avenue!
