All of our jobs are being threatened by the manager, bill spicer. Also, the floral manager is abusing her power and trying to coerce employees to volunteering for a car show charity cookout. The problem is that this is a large amount of work for very little profit that is donated! The car show people do not even know this is for charity! Also, if a health inspector were to inspect the booth it would fail miserably! What is worse, the manager, bill spicer is on joan's side as well as cathy andrews the zone manager. Joan has crossed the line, she should not be threatening people.
We should not have to work under these harsh conditions, being yelled at, threatened and made to feel inferior! It appears that bill suffers from manic depression and ocd; we are all very afraid for our well - being. What is interesting is that reagine the human resource person, doesn't listen to any of us. She is too busy trying to play the politics! She is supposed to hear us out and then help to get things sorted out, she is terrible at her job!
Bill spicer has crossed the line as well as cathy andrews! Who would allow someone like joan to threaten people and then call people out! Our employees work very hard and then are asked to give their time up for a cookout supposedly for charity. It is just another political ploy to make kroger look good. We are all at our wit's end and need help! We can't afford to work someplace else.
We also have to deal with the antics of rick mccan; he fuels the rumor mill and gossips behind our backs! He is a horrible threatening person that should be gone... Very ineffective. I am sure rueben schaffer would like to hear about all of this crap going on! This environment is very bad and bill is creating a nightmare for people. His co-managers, aj and scott are worthless and co not treat people with respect. It is always one way communication, especially with scott! Enough said...

Still til this day kroger has been going down hill even til this day. My job here at this store is now enforcing people to do things or certain jobs that they do not feel comfortable with and it is very threatening. If we employees do not do these jobs then we could be wrote up, suspended or even discharged from out job; the other option would be for them to write us up as a "no call/no show" and we do not get paid for the day, even though we were there working and were clocked in for our shift. The location I am in for this kroger is covington, GA.
I was once employeed at this location and left on very good terms. Bil Spicer is a great store manager and has a big heart. I did a lot of volunteer work while I was there and never was I forced or demanded to. To me you sound bitter. I miss it there alot . I left for another job and sometimes I regret it. To me it was like a second family which I am not receiving at my new job. I also worked with Joan at alot of events. Maybe she is looking for some new faces to help her. She was always the first on to volunteer. As far as AJ and Scott I never had any problems with them. And Kathy Andrews come on. Like I said you sound BITTER!
I currently work at this location and I have never heard such RUBBISH! Sounds to me that these complaints are from former employees who could not cut the mustard! I don't recall Bil ever harrassing anyone and as for joan, if you think she was a little or a lot overstepping her bounds about the charity car show, all you you had to do was simply just say NO! I've seen a lot of people come and go at Kroger. You either have what it takes to work there or you DON'T! I had an employee who believed after 8 months with us that we owed them a higher paying position! Pay your dues! Be flexible with your schedule! If you have another job and are not willing to bend a little on scheduling then you weren't meant to stay at kroger in the first place! The Kroger Co. has been around for a very long time, I think they treat their employees fairly and if you allow it, it's like a family. Great things are not alway's rushed.
It's not just Ohio. My short employment at a Kroger in Garner NC, will not be soon forgotten!
Was previously employed by same Kroger location in mid-90's. Local management was a joke. Rick McCann "fired" (in his mind) me due to a schedule conflict. Only problem I'd had with Rick. Told me if I didn't come in as scheduled he'd be forced to "let me go." I went forward with my trip out-of-state to find my name erased from the schedule when I returned. I checked with the store co-manager who said this wasn't allowable under store policy. I considered filing a grievance with the UFCW local 1099 but decided it wasn't worth it. I turned in my notice and walked away. Have never once had any regrets.
