Please let us explain the situation about this order.

We have closely investigated the matter with buyback order #2899625 and contacted our processing manager in order to receive more details regarding the buyback and why exactly the quote was adjusted.

The customer quoted the item as "Used - Like New". Please note that per the existing policy (https://booksrun.com/page/terms-and-conditions), such items may have slight cosmetic defects to the original packaging, cover or spine, with all original packaging materials included. Dust cover is intact and pages are clean and not marred by any notes. All pages must be included and attached to the binding. Supplementary materials must be included.

It turns out that the book was received by us in damaged condition: the spine of the book is worn and frayed, some pages of the book are ripped (please see the attached images). Thus, for the foregoing reasons, the condition of the book that was received by us is "Used - Acceptable". Please kindly note that such a case may occur due to insecure packaging, which is against our policy. Please kindly note that according to our Terms and Conditions, BooksRun is not responsible for any loss or damage incurred during shipping; including one caused by irresponsibility of the sender or inadequate packaging. Hence, all books sent to us must be packaged reliably so that no damage to items is caused, which is imposed directly by our policy that all customers are bound by once placing orders with us.

The item Pratt's Long-Term Care: Managing Across the Continuum: Managing Across the Continuum (ISBN: 9781284184334), unfortunately, had its quote adjusted automatically from $33.97 to $26.64 due to such main reason: we received a textbook with the signs of wear that did not correspond to the "Used-Like New" condition initially quoted by customer.

In order to determine which category the textbooks we receive fit, we use Amazon guidelines. The simplified version of those is presented on our website. Our processing department carefully inspects each and every book and distinguishes the items in accordance with a wide range of features.

For these reasons the condition of the book in question was automatically changed from “Used - Like New” initially quoted to “Used - Acceptable”, and its quote changed accordingly.

The books Experiencing Criminal Law (Experiencing Law Series) (ISBN: 9780314286932) and The Quest for God and the Good Life: Lonergan's Theological Anthropology (ISBN: 9780813221397) had their quotes adjusted automatically from $39.83 to $19.92 and from $8.21 to $3.22 because we received them with signs of water damage. Unfortunately, we cannot purchase items that have liquid stains of any origin and wavy pages at the original price. A picture is attached inside of the order and to the notification letter about putting your order "On Hold' sent to your email address. Please note that more details may be provided upon your request. 

In some cases, the water damage itself may be minor, but even such signs of it significantly affect the final price of the book, especially considering the fact that the book is used and not actually brand new (an unopened item in its original packaging). For these reasons, we also strongly recommend wrapping the contents of the package in plastic to prevent damage during shipping. Our processing department carefully inspects each and every item, and we always calculate the price of the items received with any kind of damage for all our buyback orders.

In such cases, the order is placed on hold for 7 days, plus 48 hours more for reprocessing, and, during this period of time, it is possible to request the return of the item and have it sent back to you. However, no decision was made from your end within the specified timeframe and the adjustment was accepted automatically by our system. At this point, according to our Terms and Conditions (section "Buyback", subsection "Shipping and Returns"), the item of your order is no longer eligible for a return under any circumstances, since it has been processed and paid for. All the letters regarding your order have been sent to your contact email from info@booksrun.com, please see more information there.  

We do understand the frustration when the final price is lower than expected; however, our processing department carefully inspects all items received and acts within the framework of our policy to guarantee the rights and obligations of our valued customers.
