This is a very nice Kroger in a nice part of town and it is the most convenient store nearest to my home. However, I despise going there when I have to get more than a few things and cannot go through self check out. The young kids they have in there are very rude and have absolutely no customer service skills. Tonight 12/17/19 @ 7:32pm I got in a line as another customer was finishing her transaction. I began placing my groceries on the conveyor belt. The cashier finished with her and spoke to me which was a shock b/c they don't usually speak and as I was standing there one of the tall kids at the end who were bagging with the crazy hair w/o glasses (because there were 2 guys) very rudely said Ma'am can I have your cart please, thank you! So I pushed the cart down the aisle at him to catch. I have a son their age with that same wild unprofessional hair and I've told him several times that I believed that was the reason that he was not hired at certain places. So no I am not a prejudiced old lady. Other times I've come there and the cashier either rarely speaks or someone during the transaction is rude. Another time, I spoke to the girl bagging and she didnt speak back. I thought that maybe I spoke in an unaudible tone so I spoke again louder and she proceeded to ignore me. This was a tall African American girl with an afro. Again, the store is clean, organized and nice. However, the young kids who have no customer service need to go through some sort of customer service training and I don't mean the video you watch when you are hired. I am a supervisor at a doctors office and my office is currently hiring for a front end position right now and I would not have people working for me who acted that way towards our patients. This may be a lot of these kids first jobs, so what they learn here can follow them for the rest of their lives. True it should be taught at home but in case it wasn't, there shoud be training and a customer service manager on site during store hours to over see their work ethic and one who holds them accountable for their actions. Because in the real world to move up to better positions you cannot have such a rude attitude if you want to keep your customers coming back.
