Burger King - customer service

I'm not usually the type of person to write a review on a fast food restaurant, but this was extremely necessary. I'm in high school and I currently work in a fast food restaurant, so I understand the experience of working in that field and how stressful it might be, but that does not give no one the excuse to be rude or nasty to a paying customer. So let me break down my experience for you. Last time I went to Burger King I received my receipt that had the free whopper or chicken sandwich with a required purchase. So when I went to the drive thru I ordered a whopper meal and told the lady there that I had the receipt where it says the free whopper or chicken sandwich. She asked me what my code was and I was confused, so I started reading numbers from the survey I took online. Then she interrupted me and told me that the code was on the receipt, but I could not find the code, so I decided to show her the receipt when I pull up to the window. Before I got to the window my mom and I found the code located on the back of the receipt, which the lady did not tell us where the code clearly was on the receipt. Then when I got up to the window, I told her I found the code and told her what it was, then she rudely responds by saying how she told me where it was on the receipt before, trying to make me feel dumb. So I just ignored her remark. Meanwhile my mom is a little more vocal than I am and is ready to express to the lady her concern about the confusion. But I tried to diffuse the situation with my mom by telling her to just let it go, since I work in fast food and to just give her a break. Then the lady hands me my receipt and as I'm looking at the receipt, I noticed how there is a purchase of my whopper meal that I remember ordering and small fry and a drink, which I had no idea why that was on my receipt when I never ordered that in the first place. So my mom reads the back of the receipt and tells me that you would have to buy a small fry and a drink in order to receive the free chicken sandwich or whopper. So at this point I'm annoyed that I'm spending extra money and the lady didn't even explain to me the process of the free chicken sandwich or whopper. At my job, my managers teach me the importance of explaining everything to the customers, so there are no confusion or problems down the line. If I had known that I had to pay for a fry and a drink than I would have bothered just getting my whopper meal. I didn't know I was getting a whole other combo. I know it's my fault for me not reading the fine print, but it is her job to break it down and explain the whole process to me and not having me spend unnecessary money that I work so hard to receive at my job. So as I'm waiting in line for a good 10 minutes, there are cars behind me leaving. I know how slow Burger King is, so I know to never go there if I'm ever in a hurry. Which as I'm typing, I realize how sad it is that I'm content and can tolerate the slowness of this restaurant, which is unacceptable. So I receive my food from the lady then I realize that she did not give me my drink that I never knew I ordered in the first place from before. Then she comes back out and asked me what drink did I get. Then as I was thinking of what drink I should get because she never even asked me what drink I should get for my required purchase, she rushes me and tells me "come on baby" rudely and rolls her eyes. So I told her to just give me a Dr. Pepper. I looked at my mom in shock that she even rushed me even though three cars left from behind me, so it's not like you guys couldn't get any slower. I was expressing to my mom how mad I was, but I did not say anything to the lady because I am very passive aggressive, which I hate being, but I just don't like confrontation and plus I was raised to respect my elders, which I also hate because you have to give respect in order for it to be given. Period. So in conclusion, I will not be going back to this Burger King and I finally understand how customers get into physical altercations with fast food employees because if she did that same thing to one of my other family members, they would have reacted a totally different way due to their boldness, unlike me. But I hope that the service gets better and I pray for the employees that work there who personal lives may be that severe if it interferes with your job to the point where you are rushing a paying customer. I have never been treated like this ever in a place where people are getting paid to serve me. Thank you for reading this if you made it to the end.
