Dear Pep Boys Risk Management, or anyone who actually cares!
I am writing this letter to address the failed drain plugs that were installed on my 2017 Nissan Titan Diesel pickup truck, which Pep Boys confirmed destroyed the engine. I am extremely disappointed in the service that was provided by Pep Boys and the subsequent lack of follow-up and attention to my situation.
On March 22, 2023, my family and I were driving on the highway when the drain plugs that were installed by Pep Boys fell off. This resulted in significant damage to the engine, rendering the truck unusable. After contacting my insurance company, I was advised to contact Pep Boys directly. When I reached out to Pep Boys, I was poorly informed of the process to initiate a claim and have the truck towed to them, which I ended up having to pay for out of my own pocket.
Since the incident, my family and I have had to use a rental car, which has been a heavy burden on our financial resources. The credit card that I used to cover the cost of the rental car is now maxed out, and we have no other way to pay for it. Additionally, we have missed out on numerous work opportunities, as we own a construction business and use the truck for our business operations.
I received a letter of acknowledgment from a claims professional named Maxine Clarke on March 27, 2023. However, since then, there have been no updates or communication regarding the status of my claim. I have left several messages but have not received any response or direction from anyone at Pep Boys.
I demand immediate action to be taken to resolve this issue. This includes full compensation for the damage caused to my truck, reimbursement for the towing costs, and compensation for the rental car expenses incurred as a result of this incident. Furthermore, I request that Pep Boys take accountability for the situation and ensure that such incidents do not occur in the future.
I am disappointed in the service provided by Pep Boys, and I hope that this letter will encourage you to take prompt action to rectify the situation. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Desired outcome: Reimbursement for all associated expenses and the immediate repair or replacement of my vehicle.
