I was scammed into thinking paypal had transferred $80k into my checking account. What I didn't know was the scammer had taken over my computer and logged into my checking account and made it look like a received 80k. I was told to send the money back, and if I didn't that paypal would take me to court and get it plus fees. I was told that if I wired the money back to the main bank that paypal uses that I wouldn't have to pay taxes on the money I received by accident. So I went to the bank and told the bank manager that I wanted to repay a loan to a guy in Hong Kong. She asked me if I knew this person. I was told to say yes, that way I could send the money without paying the taxes on the accidental transfer. So she had me sign a paper and handed me 3 papers. Then told to have a good day. I left the bank without even knowing what I had signed. If the bank manager had told me to look over the 3 pages, that I would have read where it outlines being scammed. I had no idea I was being scammed so how could I know what to look out for. If only the bank manager had looked out for me just a little more than 1 question! There is no safety net to look out for their customers.
