On 12-20-2019 my sister, Carol Beatty purchased a 2017 Subaru Forester from Kenosha Subaru. I was with her when she signed the documents. As part of the purchase agreement, she purchased two separate service contracts. One was for a "bumper to bumper" extended warranty and the second was to cover all scheduled maintenance including oil changes and tire rotation. It was explained to us that this contract would cover all planned maintenance as long as the work was performed by the selling dealership, Kenosha Subaru. Today she dropped her car off at Kenosha Subaru for routine maintenance. Carol is fighting breast cancer and had a doctor's appointment she needed a loaner car and she was short on time. To her surprise, she was told that the maintenance would cost her over $700 and that she had to sign a document to get the loaner and get to her appointment. They told her she could discuss it with someone in finance to get it all strengthened out. When we called the finance person we were told that there was nothing we could do about it because she signed the work order.
As you can see in the copy of the contract it specifies scheduled maintenance. Now the dealership says that it only covers oil changes and tire rotation and proceeded to charge her $700 for routine 30,000 mile maintenance.
I believe that this amounts to deceptive business practices. I expect to get a refund of the charges for the maintenance incurred today and I expect that Kenosha Subaru to honor the spirit of the contract.
For more information or to speak with Carol or myself please do not hesitate to contact me directly. I can be reached at 262.748.6316
