Below is a copy of the letter I had put in the local newspaper which explains it all.
Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter to WARN the residents of Smithville and surrounding areas of a company with which I have not received a satisfactory product or customer service.
The name is: UTILITY MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION, LLC. They are based out of Belden, MS and sell a product known as "Utility Shield". This is a product of thin aluminum that is installed over the existing insulation in the attic of the house.
They sell this product with a guarantee that utility bills will be reduced up to 45%. I had this pricey material installed in May, 2009 and to date have seen zero savings in my utility bills. Their certificate states that they will give a FULL refund, but at the
end of 5 years they will calculate the savings and refund a portion, so the FULL refund is untrue. When I called and told them I have had no savings in that time and would like them to remove the product and refund my money they told me their policy was no refunds.? They will give you extra products that they sell but that does not resolve the original product problum.
They also tell people that they will receive a $1500 tax exemption. I would advise that perspective buyers consult their accountants or tax professionals regarding this statement BEFORE they purchase!
They usually have their presentations at the Center Hill Restaurant in Smithville at which they give a free meal. There have been two of these presentations in 2009.
Please warn the people that read the Smithville Review to "steer clear" of this company.
There is additional information on the web: }VWW. ms. bbb. orf! (C rating and not members of BBB), also on Google under Utility Management Assoc., LLC.
Please check out all the complaints on google and also the better business brueau before getting involved in this scam.
Thanks,
Richard Senecal
