Well I was assigned to a counselor named Edward Blutstein from the VESID Brooklyn office who is the most unprofessional individual I have come into contact with. When I first went to see him I wanted to go back to school to finish my Associate's degree which I only needed 2 more classes to do so. Mr. Blutstein proceeded to go on for hours on what he thought was best for my life and education which was to attend a training program to earn some kind of a certificate. He said that I could also go back and finish my Associate's degree later on after I received my certificate which would make me more marketable for a job. I explained to Mr. Blutstein that most employers today do not even look at individuals without a college degree, again he went on in his loud tone of voice spit coming out of his mouth as he proceeded to yell and talk over me saying this is not true. Well by this point I had enough I told him I will give him a call with my decision. I thought about it and I thought ok maybe the certificate can get me a job right now and I can finish my two classes toward my associates right after. So i went to the program, have me certificate and now every job I'm applying for whats me to have guess what! A DEGREE! gee isnt that a shocker! so I call him up asking him if VESID could please help me go back to finish those classes to get the degree because I still cant even find a job with this certificate that came from this rinky dink training program he sent me to. Once again he began yelling on the phone telling me that im rude and demanding, which I can't understand how me wanting a good job and education is demanding. All he kept telling me is to call the school and tell them to find me a job, um hello I have been doing that. He could careless about anyone but himself, and really should not be working with the public especially in a program like VESID where people are coming to get help. So please don't waste your time with this man and be warned he will send you down the wrong path and not give a crap about what is best for you, he just sends you off to bs training programs to get rid of you and the certificate you get is useless!

To be honest, this sound's exactly like what my mother went through. Luckilly she had people like me who encouraged her to finish school and people in the school who cared enough to give her a scholarship. VESID really is a waste of government spending along with Workforce 1! These types of programs need to be re-evaluated! Even the library system does more than these government organizations. Shame, shame, shame and sorry you had to endure the hell of VESID!
Now, I have made a long negative comment about VESID on this site before and I agree they don't care about us clients. They just care about their getting paychecks. I also agree that finishing any kind of degree over a certificate is better for the job market. Without VESID's help, I plan on finishing my undergraduate degree at SUNY Stony Brook University, then complete my master's and law degrees, so I could practice law and teach either at the college or university level. VESID would hate to hear that! But, none of us should care what they think. They don't care our goals. They don't think we have any!
