Alexa Smith contacted me via domain sale form on our domain name to purchase in summer 2017. She and I then spoke via email about price and we agreed to a price for the domain. I offered that she could pay via PayPal for faster turn around. I normally use the Uniregistry system to do domain transactions but she couldn't figure out how to pay. I instructed her very clearly how to claim the domain from me and that I would push it via Godaddy to her Godaddy account and she should accept the domain.

I pushed the domain in hopes she would accept but time went by and all was forgotten. About 6 whole months later, Alexa file dispute with Paypal, 1 week from the refund deadline. She told PayPal in her dispute that she paid for a phone and never received it. she did this because the PayPal account I used was for one of my other businesses but the transaction notes were clear that this was for the domain name. She claimed that she wanted a full refund and i called to speak with her.

My state support phone recordings and so i recorded all communications with her. I explained that the money she paid was not for some phone and she said she made a mistake and would cancel the dispute. The real issue was she did not receive the domain after all since she failed to follow the instructions on the Godaddy help section about accepting domains that are pushed to your account.

She lied that she would cancel the transaction and all attempts I made to send the domain to her were not answered. She won the dispute since she really did not receive the domain due to her negligence but here is the kicker. She recently came back to my domain sending support a message asking why she hasn't received the domain as yet. After failing to contact me for 6 months then filing a dispute under false pretences and now asking for something she did not pay for since she was refunded.

Scam or not?

This is very unprofessional and it shows how people will try their best to get free things while pretending to pay for it. This company should be ashamed of how they do business.

This supposed seller never transferred over the domain name after several attempts asking him to. And no he never cced my 'boss' instead cced someone that was on our board and not someone having anything to do with day to day management of the company. I attempted to rectify this situation and pay agreed amount if he properly transferred over the domain name but he then tried to up the price. This was only a minimal domain name that we were looking at and do not appreciate the sellers unprofessional attitude and lack of responding for several months of properly transferring over the domain name that we paid for until after we file a dispute from original payment method.
