We just lost our beloved irish setter ti a fast moving cancer-it took her in less than a week from diagnosis. We have had vpi pet isnurance for ten years- their superior plan with the cancer rider. When she was diagnosed, we did everything we could to try to save her to the tune of $2200, thinking becuase she had the cancer rider it woulod be covered. We submitted the bill and it was denied becuase the condition she had malignant histocytosis is an exclusion on the policy. It is letter I under exclusions. Now mind you, this is a cancer and in reading the exclusions, it does not mention this is a form of cancer so withpout being medical people, there is no way we would have known this. The testing that got us the diagnosis was denied as well since it resukted in this diagnosis. I am furious-the lesson learned here is to read the exclusions thoroughly and ASK someone to explain them to you. There are a lot of other things NOT covered so read through them if you haven't already. If we had to do it all over again, we would NOT use them at all-we would just put the money away ourselves every month. Living in the northeast in metro NYC area, their payments didn;t even amount to half of what it costs us for vet bills- save yourself money and disappointment. It was horrible to lose our baby girl so quickly and then to get screweed over by them was just wrong.

They keep denying a major % of my claims for my wonderful flat coated retriever who has cancer. They only covered 1/2 the amputation because they said I should have had it done during the biopsy. Now won't cover her antibiotics or ultrasounds and only part of the chemo rounds. All in all the 90% coverage is only about 45% and dropping with each new claim because they say they are covered by previous claims...I really, really want to do something about this! Even after my girl is gone I want to nail this company for her and all those who come after her! Contact me!
This is the worst pet insurance company in the U.S.A, VPI PET, They really knows how to steal your money, I deceide to get insurance for my dog in Sept 2009, my dog is six years old, after getting the insurance I took my dog for his check-up and submitted a clam form for $50.I was told I could not make a clam until my dog was enrolled in the company for a full year. The cost for the policy was $30. a month, VPI PET INSURANCE COMPANY took $30 out my checking account every month, A year and two months later I took my dog to the vet for his yearly check-up which was $50.I paid the vet and submitted the bill once more to this S-C-A-M company they refursed to pay the bill and stated that my dog was not covered for the medical procedure I did not realized that a check-up was a medical procedure, so far I have paid a total of $420. I have cancled my insurance, SO PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS SCAM COMPANY.
