We-Haul Moving Review: ZERO STARS

DO NOT USE THIS MOVING COMPANY FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER . Absolutely, the worse moving company ever – and I have moved 30+ times.

ISSUE 1: Late Pickup. When the driver finally came, the first time he was 3 days late, and he indicated he would be there first thing the next morning. However, the driver left and did not show up again until two days later. They had driven up to a city in Washington State to pick up another job, and did not bother to even phone us. So we sat there for total of 5 days before the pick up.

ISSUE 2: The original agent assured me it would take 5-10 days for delivery. In spite, of at least 30 phone calls to the We Haul dispatch to find out when the delivery would take place, I kept getting the incorrect dates, with the delivery being pushed out to weeks. Delivery took a month.

ISUUE 3: The pickup movers did not correctly attending to the labeling of boxes, the labels fell off during shipment, and the spelling was incredibly bad with spelling errors, (bike spelled bic), and long arrows denoting “boxes” with no numbers whatsoever on the box. I may be missing up to 40 boxes but can’t actually determine what is missing until I get my goods out of the storage facility.

ISSUE 4: I had to purchase clothing, incur food expenses, and sleep on the floor for the month while my goods were in transit. This was a cross-country move and for reasons unexplained the goods were still in Nevada at the time they should have been in Florida. (? Wondering if perhaps Nevada is a convenient and interesting point to park the truck for a few days. I guess the reader can draw his or her own conclusions).

ISSUE 5: I repeatedly asked the dispatch office to give me at least 24-hour notice before the truck was to arrive. This did not happen. Instead the driver phoned after 5:00pm on Saturday to let me know he was delivering it Sunday morning. Naturally, no banks or post offices are open at that time, so they were going to charge me an additional $750 cash to hold the goods until Monday. Interestingly enough, I have now read that others have experienced this same event with We Haul Moving.

ISSUE 6: Over the last month, I have repeatedly phoned the company, and emailed my original agent, who assured me if I had any problems whatsoever, he would assist and get back to me. Besides asking about the delivery date, I was concerned about request to give the driver this large sum of money in CASH or a BLANK money order I requested to whom I should make out the money order and never got an answer.

WARNING: IF YOU GIVE A BLANK MONEY ORDER OR CASH, you have no reassurance that the money goes to the carrier. The driver can abscond with the money, including a $750 “late” fee (when they are the ones who are late with the deliver). You will not have any record for IRS. The reader can draw their own conclusions, if the company is reporting its income to the IRS.

ISSUE 7: When the delivery finally happened, other people’s items, including a deep freezer and pictures were off-loaded with my furnishings. If I were not an honest person, I would have said yes, they are mine, but I AM an honest person, so I asked them to please load the items back on the truck. Who knows who is missing their deep freezer and pictures?

ISSUE 8: I had a 42” Sony TV which was dropped 5” on the ground at the time of delivery. I do not know if the television will be working or not once I get it out of storage.

ISSUE 9: The company is totally unresponsive once they pick up your goods. They cannot explain the purpose of issuing blank money orders and requesting cash, so I can only conclude they work under the radar avoiding the IRS. This puts the client in the position of not have a 1) proof of payment at the time of delivery, 2) a legitimate receipt for moving expenses for tax purposes, and 3) a payment of (in this case $5, 000-$6, 000 total dollars) cash payment. Which means you could potentially be dinged three times with a cash payment.

SUMMARY

I do not expect to receive any reasonable compensation for the expenses I incurred waiting for the truck. But, perhaps that is not the bigger issue here.

I will be posting this on moving review sites so that it may assist others in selecting your mover. In addition, since I find their business practices questionable, I feel responsible to report these events to the Federal Transportation Safety Board and to the Better Business Bureau. You may draw your own conclusions. My conclusion is that the company does not respond to my questions, and are trying to manipulate this into a “payoff to the customer to remain silent” scenario.

There are two issues here: 1) the lack of their ability to meet my personal contract dates and respond to my personal concerns; and the 2) the probability of a scam to the public which is repeated over and over, across the nation, without customers coming forward regarding the blank checks and cash payments, and these payments probably not being reported as income to the IRS.

YOU, the reader can draw your own conclusions. If you have been dinged by this company I recommend that your report your experience so that others will not have to go through needless stress and over payments. I pay and report my taxes, work hard, and do my fair share to contribute in a positive manner – so should others.

There is no excuse – the company passes the buck and is irresponsible. This is a logical and clear review which correctly states the events of my move. AVOID booking your move with WE HAUL and be a watchdog for other companies using the same tactics. Report your experiences for the other customers looking to find a good moving company. Thank you for reading this review
