Multimodal multitasking is the simultaneous performance of 2 different kinds of tasking, for example, listening to an audiobook while doing laundry. This strategy helps in doing more by using times that would otherwise be wasted, beaten unproductively. It is specifically good for people who have tight schedules but would want to advance their personal activities or get new knowledge while doing other essential activities.
Multimodality multitasking - this is what I call "using my time twice". Such a good life hack. Great content, thank you!
Ali has been on quite the adventure these past few years and here’s to many more in 2025.
One thing I would like to point out is that when we try to hyper-optimize for productivity, we also eliminate opportunities for spontaneous life activities and experiences.
For example, if you’re listening to a podcast in public, the benefit is the learning from the content, but you inwardly forgo your ability to be present with the moment and you outwardly signal to the world around you that you don’t want to be bothered.
I wonder what we, as a society, have lost in the name of productivity…

Great content - I have been convinced I need to incorporate quarterly planning in my life and then your content came in! I like the sound of a quarterly quest - sounds much less like work!

I really don’t know how people listen to books while doing other stuff! I know that Multimodality Multitasking is great and saves time, but if I’m not completely focusing on what I’m reading, I can’t get any benefit from that book, that’s why listening to books isn’t working for me, I take notes (or what I call Quotes) from any book while I read it… I would appreciate if anyone has a way to teach me how to do that with audio books or give me an alternative method!
oh thank you ^_^
