I have leased a 2021 Kia Seltos LX from a dealership and started to notice some engine issues. About 5 months ago, the Seltos would simply stall while driving. There were never any dash warning lights displayed and decided to get it checked out.

Quick back story: I have always changed the oil for the first 2 or 3 intervals on every car I have purchased or leased. I changed the oil in the Seltos and had an oil change scheduled for when I took it in for the engine stalling. Never made the appointment and had it towed to Cochran Kia in Robinson.

Upon repeated calls from myself there was never anything resolved. It literally sat in a lower lot for over 2 months. Someone finally left me a message stating the warranty was not covering the engine replacement and the $10K to fix it was my responsibility. Why? There were no official records of getting the oil changed (hence the back story above). I told them from the start of this issue that I changed the oil on my own. They said Kia would not accept that even though it’s clearly stated on their website that owners can change their oil themselves with no effect on the warranty.

Desired outcome: I would like Cochran Kia to have the entire cost of my problems reimbursed upon completion of engine replacement. The expenses are as follows:$10K for the engine repair$2K for a rental car for nothing was offered at all.
