I, like many of you ladies, recieved a charge of $4.95 on my bank account but it was under web access along with an 866 # so after some research online reading many of your stories I decided to call the # [protected]) and they answered right away said customer service may I help you & I told them what happened & he put me onhold for about 5 mins then transfered me to a lady who said I was automatically signed up for a secrets & insiders club that was a monthly charge. I asked her to cancel it and with in a few mins she cancelled my automatic subscription, make sure you ask for a refund though! I asked her would this money be refunded back into my account & she said well you didnt ask for a refund, so I asked her to please refund my money back into my account & she politely said yes it should be back into your account within 5 to 10 days.

i applied for a free sample and paid the asked amount of around five dollars (australian), then i received what seemed to be a life time supply and they keep taking my debiting my credit card account every month and i didn't ask for a subscription, the amount they are taking is quite a lot and very frequent.

What is being done to stop this FRAUDULENT company, Acai Burn? I signed up for a free sample and understood that I was only to pay for shipping and handling - around $7.00. Within 10 days I have a charge of $130.00 on my Visa account. I've tried several times to call the cancellation number that I found on line, but its always busy. How do I stop these ridiculous charges?

Unfortunately, Now companies like this are so desperate for money and clients, they have changed the fine print and the way they word things for them to legally take from your account and here's how.

In previous times, say for a subscription to a magazine company, you would check a "yes" box and would mail in a payment or mail in monthly payments... Basically an "opt-in" situation...

Now, what they do is, get you with a hook ("free trial" that costs only shipping costs to you) and with the account that you signed up with, they automatically draft your account monthly, or weekly... Making it a "opt-out" situation. The only way for you to cancel is to contact the company to cancel - when half the people did not even realize that they signed up in the first place.

These companies have so many affiliates and other companies that are listed in the fine print in the terms of use, that your account may be drafted by other companies also - companies you may not have even heard of.

Moral... Don't do online shopping! If you need something, buy it from a store! Much safer... and with Cash!

I'm 21, and i've learned from my mistakes already!

Good luck to you all, I hope this helps someone!

I noticed i was not the only one complaining about the advertising, deceptive advertising, practices of this company.
Question is, what is being done to get the word out and get us our money back. Complaining is good, but to what end...they don't even try to accommodate us at all...

Although I cancelled the product within 7 days and returned the unused product, I continue to get charges on my credit card. I have confimation numbers proving I called over a month ago and still charges which were supposed to be reversed were not. Dr. Oz needs to stop hawking this product. This is Fraud

I agree...I am appalled at the way the company handles customers. I was on the phone with them for over an hour only to be hung up on. I put in a complaint to the BBB...dunno if it'll help but maybe...

I have also been charged several times for this product and when I call
they say that it has already been cancelled but they continue to bill me
for this product. They even said that I would have to go to my bank and
have them to get my charges put back on. So I would not recommend this
product to anyone just for the fact that it is just a plain out scam.

Beware!

I sent for $4.95 for shipping charges. I then had $83.95 unauthorized taken from my account.
They refuse to refund and I did not receive anything for the money. Rip off! Acai Berry Breeze

I know this isn't going to help, but I have positive actions you can take below so read on. In the Ts & Cs it does actually say:
"a pre-authorized pending payment of Fifty-Eight Dollars and Seventy-Six Cents ($58.76) does apply for the trial offer for your initial fourteen (14) day trial membership ("Trial Membership")." I failed to spot this when I glanced through the terms and conditions when I signed up but thanks to comments on this website I've cancelled my order. I did 3 4 things:
1. phoned [protected] to cancel the Comprehensive weight loss e-book package
2. phoned [protected] to cancel the Insider secrets to weight loss package
3. cancelled my order via the on-line chat facility and mailed the transcript of the chat to myself as evidence of cancellation
4. spoke to my credit card company as soon as I'd read the comments on the consumer forum. I can dispute any charge this company make on my card provided I have evidence of cancellation. So I have 3 cancellation numbers.

However, I'm resigned to paying the $14.90 postage cost even though I said I wanted the 'Ultimate Shipping Package deal' which said postage was free and I don't think I have any grounds to dispute the $58.76 as I stupidly ticked to say I'd read the Ts & Cs. So this will amount to around £33 which I'll have to put down to experience.

These people said they you could do a free trial for just postage and packing the goods made me very ill were returned to sender who has continued to take unauthorised sums of money from my account to date over £100, when my credit card notified me I tried to contact them but to no avail. I have had to stop all non pin access to my credit card. These people have put me to a major inconvenience.

I agree with Cheryl - this product and its means of marketing is a form of fraud - no fine print was even provided to me with the so called "free" sample/trial.

The real eye opener was the US$59-95 deductions plus the smaller fortnightly unauthorsied deductions for associated companies !

Don't do it folks - stick to good diet and moderate exercise.

Found out this is a scam. DOH! Call all of the phone numbers listed earlier to cancel. Insider Secrets is easy. Get a confirmation number. E-books (Comprehensive Weight Loss) is easy. Get a confirmation number. AcaiBurn is harder. Get a confirmation number AND return the unused product to
AcaiBurn, P.O. Box 10233, Des Moines, IA 50381. Make them tell you you your order number and put it on the return package. Ship BEFORE your 60-day trial ends. Get a tracking number from the shipper. Don't do this and expect to get hit with a $58.95 recurring charge. Ouch! No need to get nasty with them. Just say "I want to cancel". My lesson learned, dangit!

Called my CC Company first. Waste of time. They want me to call the vendors first. Fine...
Call Insider Secrets, cancel and get a confirmation number.
Call E-Book (Comprehensive Weight Loss), cancel and get a confirmation number.
Call AcaiBurn, cancel and get a confirmation number. Get your order number too. They may want you to ship the unused product back in order to stop the $58.95 recurring charges.

Ship the unused product to

Get a tracking number from the shipper!

No need to get nasty with anyone. Just call, tell them "I want to cancel".

Only ordered the trial sample bottle, NOTHING else, much to my surprise, I find that I have been charged $58.76 twice. I did not agree to any of this. Today I called and spoke with a rep from their company, and Was told I had to send the trial bottle back at my expence, after receiving this, then they would credit my card for the amount taken. I will let all know if this happens, if not I'll go to the BBB, see if they can help.

if you want the real thing, just order from nutsonline. you can get the raw organic acai powder by the pound, or 4oz bags. i use it in smoothies with hemp milk and organic raw cacao powder. neither is cheap, but they're the real thing, baby.

actually, i found their prices to be much cheaper than what i can buy in a health store in canada, even after delivery and exchange. just don't buy capsules or juice concoctions; you'll pay at least 5X as much for the same amount of acai.

if you live in Australia and consider that a fraudulent transaction has or is about to occur against your credit card then contact your credit card company and advise them of your problem with this unscrupulous lot. They will stop your card immediately to prevent any other transactions occuring. I attempted less than an hour after authorising the purchase of my "free" trial, to chat with this mob so that i could have the whole thing cancelled. They informed me that it was not possible as the product had already been processed (in their dreams). I was then informed that in addition to the extra postage charges that had been added after i authorised the transaction, that I would not be charged the $79.95 for the trial if they receive the package back before the 14 days trial period is over. Fat chance of that ever happening given that it is probably going to take the best part of 14 days to get from US (or wherever they hide) to Australia.
Bottom Line...cancel your card based on suspected fraudulent future transactions with acaiburn
PS wait for the bombardment of this site from acaiburn as seen above this post

Why do you have to phone the free phone for so called security reasons> If you have cancelled and given the return details and the packet has been confirmed as delivered. You should honour that in stead of making busy people phone

We also ran into trouble when we ordered only a "SAMPLE"! They charged our credit card for a full order. We called after hunting for a phone number and called - it was such a pain - they act like they don' t undertstand you - I think they must be trained to "double-talk" so you get completely confused.
Anyway, we called our credit card company and they credited us - after all the fiasco, the company ended up refunding us so then we had to refund our credit card.

It was very frustrating and a huge waste of energy - you would have thought I would have lost at least 10 lbs!

Don't bother with this company, they will scam you - if I were you I think I would order it from nutsonline as jrnymn suggested.

Actually, I think it is not really very good for your heart.

FYI only - My doc put me on a plan of lean meats, veggies, fruit, nuts and I have lost 39 lbs. since February of this year (2009) I cannot exercise due to spinal neuropathy, I just try to keep gently active and I am doing great - no rice, potatoes, bread or anything else starchy. When I cheat I have a baked yam.

God bless you all - hope everything works out!

This is not true. You do not refund people. I cancelled my order on June 19, just one hour after I placed it. I received the product 17 days after that and returned it right away to China, as requested. I sent lots of messages and always received weird answers. It has been 51 days now and no refund yet!

Office de Protection du Consommateur (OPC), a Quebec government organism, is working on the problem. They found out that Acai Berry products are sold on phone or on the Internet with false representation. First of all, Terms and conditions are not CLEARLY displayed on their web site or given by phone. They do not comply with Quebec laws for lots of reasons. If those people want to do business in Quebec, they'll have to follow the rules

My Girlfriend is on the phone with one of your representatives, who is telling her she will not be able to get any sort of refund. Even WITH the product returned before the 60 days, without being opened at all. Even though the website states it is a 60 day trial, the representative is claiming that it is only a 14 day trial. We took the representatives name and ID number, as asked by our credit card company, and are going to dispute the charge that way. So much for the 60 day guarantee you just finished speaking of.

I got a 30 day free trial, not a free product that I had to cancel in 14 days. They charged my account approx. 25 day later for 59.88. I thought the charge was for the 2nd bottle which I was OK with but I don't even get product, I just paid for the product I thought was free. Here is their phone number . This scam is a far-reaching, multi-layered, blood-sucking nigh criminal business! Not only do you have to ensure that you send this stuff back RIGHT AWAY, be mindful that subscribing to this placebo means that you also join some Value Savings Club that charges $24 a month to your card--EVEN AFTER YOU RECEIVE YOUR CANCELLATION FROM ACAI BURN AND RETURN THEIR SUGAR PILLS.

When you cancel this, be certain to address this Value Savings thing and get that done, too!

I was scamed by Acai Burn also. They automatically sign me up with "Health Member" membership and VH access membership.
The funny thing is, those transaction was outside of the unite states so there are foreign transaction fee.
I call my credit company and got the phone # for the two membership customer services:
ONV/WeightLoss: 888-[protected]
VH Access: [protected].

I call both up just now and cancelled them. They knew I was call to cancel and they knew they are scam people. But I was told there is no refund.
It is not much, totally less about $10, so not a big deal, but thining about everymonth they scam million's of people and that $10 adds up to be a huge amount.
They are based outside of the country so they know they can not be caught.
Very very sad they do this to people.
