Change of service without reason
I make my living on the web and because I live in a rural area the only option for reasonable connection speed at a "reasonable" price was Accel Networks. The service is a wireless accelerated 3G connection. They provide a signal amplifier and 2 antennae. And it's not cheap.
When I purchased the service their AUP (Accepted Use Policy) and the content on their site guaranteed that I would have "Unlimited Data Utilization" and I did until Jesse Chappell became their new Director of Network Operations.
He sent me an email telling me that I was abusing my privilege by having used 11gb in a month, far in excess of the 5gb he said I was entitled to, and demanded that I contact him to prevent any further dire action on their part.
Well I checked their site and the AUP and web pages hadn't changed so I penned an email to him and the agent that secured the service for me.
Jesse never responded but everyone else has been scratching their heads over this in agreement with me that there is no usage limit.
Until today.
Their new AUP now contains a clause that limits usage to 5gb per month.
You can tell that it was written very hastily by all the spelling and punctuation errors.
So I expect that I'll be hearing from Jesse any day now telling me what a bad boy I've been.
My service now is consistently one quarter the speed that it had been.
The service is a good one and very reliable but their new usage policy sucks big time.
Seems that something near $200.00 per month is a lot to spend for a service limited to 5gb.

Why go through Accel at all?
The technology is awesome but, their (accel-networks) service is horrible.
Just buy your-self a Siearra Raven X and a Wilson Booster with all the wiring and connectors and subscribe for service yourself. You'll save not only on your monthly costs but, you'll also save yourself a lot of aggrevation.
Mick,
I agree with you. I'm also a developer that works through the web for my living. I'm also living in a very rural area. I just now got a Verizon mobile broadband plan that has a 5 GB max per month. My plan is $59.00 a month. I was about to check into ACCEL, but if they have the same 5GB max per month with a monthly price of $130+ (depending on the length of the contract, e.g. 1, 2, or 3 years), then it's a no-brainer for me to stay away from Accel. Thanks for the heads up, Mick!
