Acces-VR / Adult Career and Continuing Education Services review: Should be zero.

If anyone on here is still having problems accessing services through ACCES-VR, please contact us at [protected]@gmail.com in order to join our private facebook group, ACCES-VR INDEPENDENT COMPLAINT, REVIEW AND SUPPORT GROUP. In the face of gross mismanagement and bureaucracy, we have no choice but to organize. We are current and former clients who have experienced unacceptable treatment and/or service from ACCES-VR and are now organizing so that we can share our stories, compare notes, and see if we can bring to light what’s really going on at ACCES-VR. The group is for us to share and document our stories in order to take meaningful action. It is also there as a source of unofficial guidance and support to you as you deal with ACCES-VR.

ACCES-VR was audited by Thomas DiNapoli's Office, the Office of the State Comptroller, in 2022 but to no avail! Things became even worse after that. The entire department is mismanaged and completely unaccountable for poor service provision. Downstate offices can’t seem to properly train or retain new staff members and caseloads are topping 300 per counselor. The Department claims that funding is available for services but the reality is that ACCES-VR routinely blocks the public’s access to funding through an endless maze of document collection that effectively just makes people go away.

Again, we are not lawyers or anyone running for local office, though we sure could use their help! We do not represent the interests of the NY State Ed Department, since they certainly don’t represent ours. We are a small group of current or former acces-vr clients who have HAD IT with the status quo.
