I ordered the Acai berry product because of the 14 day trial period. After I received the product, I took it for a few days and decided to return it because I did not think it was worth the cost. Within the stated 14 day period I began trying to call the number they gave me to get an rma number and return the product.
I started trying to call on the 11th day of my 14 day trial period. Everytime I called, I got either a busy signal or an automated voice that told me to push 1 and then I got dead air. I tried calling for 5 days and got the same thing. I tried calling at different times of the day to see if I could get through but no such luck. Finally, I gave up and sent an email. By the time I got a response to the email I sent, the 14 day trial period was up and my account was debited $78.81 on exactly the 14th day. The email they sent me stated that I did not contact them within the 14 day trial period therefore, I had to pay for the product. They did not respond to my question as to why the line was always busy when I called or why I got dead air.
This company is a scam. Do not order from them. When I finally got through to the customer service line, it sounded like I was calling India. The guy could barely speak english, would not let me speak to a supervisor and was extremely unhelpful. I am going to file complaints with the BBB and the Florida Attorney General's Office.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I ordered the Acai Berry trial, and didn't get it until 10 days into the trial period of 14 days. Then I was charged the $4.99 for the trial and then $78.81 dollars twice on the same day. I have called them and emailed them and all I get is a run around. They stated that they only charged me once of $78.81 according to their records. I beg to differ. I have sent them a copy of my charges to my account. So will wait and see what happens. This is a scam! Stay Away!
I too got caught in the scam. I place my order on 1/22/2009 and recieved my acai samples on 1/28/2009 and I called them at [protected] to cancel my trial period so i dont get billed any more. When you call you will hear an automated voice prompt first telling you about purchasing, then about canceling and then about any other questions. I waited and push #2 for the third option and got right on to speak with some guy in India. I said I wanted to cancel my order and he tried about 3 times to get me to reconsider. First trying to extend my free trial, then my trying to lower my monthy payment from the usual $78 or whatever to $30. No way. I just said I want to cancel. IMPORTANT MAKE SURE YOU RECIEVE A RMA # TO PUT ON THE SHIPPING PACKAGE WHEN YOU SEND IT BACK IN ORDER TO BE REFUNDED! ALSO DEMAND A CANCELATION CONFORMATION NUMBER! SHIP BACK ASAP AND MAKE SURE YOU PUT A TRACKING ON IT SO YOU MAKE SURE 100% THAT IT GETS TO THE PLACE!
i just called literally 30 mins ago to cancel so im crossing my fingers that i wont be charged. Good luck everyone!
I just went through the same thing. I called to cancel my Acai Berry-in my 14 day trial. Now I have to return the product, with an RMA number on the package and hope I wont get charged. I also talked to a foreign speaking man who tried to scam me into extending my order at a lower cost. I had to get very blunt with him. He then tells me that he cannot send a confirmation number because "our lines are very slow". I wish I would have researched them a little more before ordering from them. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of my arguement with them.
Thank you! You just saved me money and a headache. I received a call and told them I needed to do research on the company and to call me back in 15min. Needless to sy it has been over an hour... I hope others will do the same before purchasing. Again, thanks, these type of post will help many folks!
I wish that I was one who done research. But I just wanted to loose weight. Boy they got me! I called to cancel but a guy I talked to You could hardly understand him, but he told me "Oh I give you discount, you only pay $38.81 a 40% discount. But guess what I got charged $78.81! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY THEY WILL SCAM YOU! It's a shame the way the economy is and they do this to people...BEWARE!

Hello:
This is a scam, we also got scammed by this company. My wife ordered this free trial product. She got the product after the 14 day trial period. She placed the order on February 25, 2009 and received the product on March 27, 2009. She tried the product for 2 days and got sick and started to have abdominal cramps and vomiting. Then she called to cancel the product on April 6th, 2009. She got connected to some guy in a foreign country and could not understand him. She made it clear that she needs to cancel the product. She got the order cancellation number (CAN#: 4320504) and sent unused product back. On April 10th I saw my credit card statement and saw three charges (2/25/9 for $4.99; 3/13/9 for $78.81; and on 3/30/9 for $83.80). This time I called the company and got connected to some guy in India, who became agitated and refused to credit the account.
Please be careful, as this company or individuals are clearly a marketing compnay (like a typical pyramid scheme) and hides behind layers of traps. I will wait one week and file a lawsuit in Superior Court and a complaint with Department of Consumer Affairs. Anyone reading this and similar other comments / blogs should stay away from this scam and write their experiences to help prevent innocent person being taken advantage of by this company.
I agree this company "www.advancedwellnessresearch.com" is a fraud and a scam. I had the unpleasant experience with this company also. I was connected to their customer service center in India (called BPO which is business process outsourcing). The customer service will not provide any information about this company ie their mailing address, owner of the company or any other managers information, but keep arguing about how good the product is, keep saying cannot issue complete credit, however...etc etc.
The way to find out information is to to contact the Department of Consumer Affairs in Illinois and Florida and any other state that you live in. This way different Attorney General's Offices can file a joint lawsuits and hopefully get this company out of business. Further, now you can also file a direct lawsuit in your own state (go to your states, county court house website to obtain infomation about how to file lawsuites under the personal and longarm jurisdiction of the county court over any internet frauds and scams). I hope you stay firm and do the right thing and dont buy anything over internet (its not cheap or convenient but full of headaches and frustrations)
I have a similar story: I ordered the free trial from New Zealand and paid $20 for express airmail. It took three weeks for the product to arrive. When I called the company (an Indian call-centre) I was told it was too late for the free trial and I would be charged the full price, which they did. I managed to stop the subscription of the product but later found out that I was charged the postage cost twice. There was no point in calling the Indian call centre again as it had been very hard to communicate with the staff the first time – bad English and no power to actually do anything about any mistakes that may have occurred. All up the product cost me 120 USD and of course it is not worth it. It is sad that people have no pride in doing business and have to employ fraudulent practices like this. I put this experience into my 'learning lessons in life account'. I remember how I felt that night when I ordered the product – I was frustrated and thought I was too fat (which I'm actually not). Then along came acai berry, on the side panel of facebook and the journey began...
