60,000.00 educational debt with interest still rising on the unsub loans
They enroll me, drop me and blame me for dropping. Then, a month later the cycle happens again. Enroll and drop. Again and then again. They milk their students of federal aid. They gave me a form stating that I dont wish to receive title four funding. Like what? Crazy, American Intercontinental University has made me so stressed out, I’m depressed and...

I did not attend any university after 03/01/2022, too many issues surrounding financial aid, now I can see why.
When I began in 08/08/2018, I had the same advisors until 2020, I had none. Therefore, I continued on my own hoping things would work out as planned.
Cannot be enrolled at 3 locations at same time.
The online location address I used: 231 N. Martingale Rd, Schaumburg, IL 60713
Desired outcome: All loans forgiven, possible refund, and Bachelor's Degree.
I did not have enough space to add everything
Harassing phone calls
The school has contacted me 4-6 times per day every day since I merely requested information. They alter the phone number to make it seem like it comes from a location close to my area code. Just today they have called me twice already, once at 9:00 and once at 12. Blocking numbers has no effect since it just registers as a different number. I never registered with the school since they encouraged me to drop my current enrollment before even saying if they would accept CLEP credits. I have not done business with them, I don’t owe them any money, yet they’re calling more than a debt collector would.
Desired outcome: They need to stop this harassment.

Fraudulent loans taken out in my name.
I did not attend this university, and yet somehow they swindled the government out of $9,500 in my name. I never received a dime, never took classes with them, and they will not return my calls. This was during [protected]. Currently in the process of filing a fraud complaint through my servicer, and will request the OIG look into this "university".
Desired outcome: Clear my name from the form! I did NOT authorize AIU to receive any government money or otherwise in my name ever. Investigation of this business, full prosecution by the OIG to take place.
Liars and owing money and money driven school
I started at AIU in 2017. When I started at AIU in 2017, I started class when they decided to remove me from class because I hadn't given them my high school diploma. And I told the representative that my high school was closed and I had no way to get my transcripts. But I told them that I had an associate's degree from Taylor's Business Institute. The registrar told me they still needed my transcripts from high school, and I could not use my transcripts for Taylor's Business Institute to continue class. Now there's no record showing that I started classes in 2017. In 2017, the registrar's department called and asked me if I could go to Taylor's to get my transcript. I told them it would be an unofficial transcript. Is that okay? The person said yes. I also asked how would you get the unofficial transcripts. The representative told me to take a picture of it when I got it and send it to AIU. So I find out that I wasn't supposed to get them. AIU was supposed to send a request to Taylor's Business Institute to get my official transcripts. This also happened in 2017. So, in 2018, I officially started classes. Now there were records showing that I attended. I never received any of my loan money the whole time I was at AIU. I have only received 3 school checks since I started at AIU. My financial aid and pell grants were all gone, so I was on loans for school. Now I owe AIU over $20,000. Then, in 2020, I started back. I was working on my master's degree, and it was stated that if I returned to AIU and registered in my master's degree, I would receive a lifetime scholarship. And that scholarship will go towards the money you owe AIU, and that was not true at all. That's why I returned to AIU. Another issue came up. I had to send my laptop in for repair, working on my masters, and I did a withdrawal, and they told me that it wasn't a good enough reason to withdraw, so I got dropped from the school. I'm trying to work on my masters at another school, and they will not release my unofficial transcript, saying they don't do unofficial. Because of AIU, I cannot finish my education or achieve my goal. I dislike myself because I went to American Intercontinental University. But I'm happy with myself, because I have my bachelor's degree, and I made the changes I did. I hated going to American Intercontinental University.
Phone calls
I am receiving phone calls every morning night all times of the day all times of the evening and is getting out of hand! I have already told three people to stop calling me from their University I don't know why they're calling me but it needs to stop I am so frustrated right now I don't even feel like making a complete sentences! This morning the phone call started at 7:30 a.m. and it has been three so far please take me off of your call list
Desired outcome: All I want is the phone calls to stop
Harassment phone calls!
I am constantly getting phone calls every half an hour from this place even after I block the number they call me from a new one! Everytime I answer nobody speaks and everytime I call back it always goes to voicemail! I'm really getting pissed off especially since I do not want to go to college and have never put my number out there for it to be called like this. And especially after there's Google pages about them harassing people, you'd think they'd stop calling. Fu*k you AIU QUIT CALLING ME.
Desired outcome: I want this resolved ASAP.
Forceful hard sales tactics... Forced me to apply while on phone with them
I'm looking to go back to college to obtain my bachelors degree. I applied at a local college campus and started getting phone calls every half hour from AIU about my "request for information" when I'd never heard of them or put in any request."
I finally spoke to them and told them I'd already found a local college with in person classes and they argued that it doesn't hurt to just get information from other colleges then transferred to and admissions counselor.
I was on the phone with an admissions counselor for 2 hours before hanging up. I kept trying to say I had stuff to do but they wouldn't take no for an answer. I have been called several times a day since.
I was talked into submitting an application. They wouldn't let me do my own research and apply on my own time. They sent a link to my email and made me open it and apply and I had to let them know exactly which page I was on going through the application. Then they wanted to keep me on the phone even longer to have me complete a "practice class" and asked me to open my fafsa and add them as a school. All while still on speaker phone with them.
I was hoping to just apply to get them off my back because I'm a very shy non confrontational person who is on the spectrum but they just would t let me get off of the phone. They demanded I stay on this ridiculously long phone 1st call when I'd never even heard of them before that to complete my financial aid and everything without even letting me weight my options or research on my own and refused to even acknowledge or give a response to I've already found a college near me I like.
I'm glad I hung up. I've seen other reviews of being walked through the practice class then not attending them getting a bill for the practice class they force you to do on the first call answered.

degrees scam
Stay away from this scam. I completed AIUs BBA degree plan and completed it shortly before I retired from the US Coast Guard. I thought along with my 30 years of experience a degree would give me a better chance of getting a good civilian job, wrong! I soon found out no employers looked on the AIU degree as a real one. I decided to go back to school and get an MBA, and after applying at no less than 5 colleges/universities if found that not one of my AIU credits transferred. So I had to start all over. I now have several MS degrees as well as an MBA in project management. All I ended up with as far as AIU goes in 3 wasted years of time and over $25k in student loan debt. I should have known better, with AIUs high pressure sales tactics to take loans out and constant calls but I did not think about it. Also AIU outright lied about it's programs graduation employment numbers, salary stats as well as their so called after graduation employment help IE resume writing help and so on. I also should have been concerned about the grades I got in classes I was a well below average student in high school and did in fact drop out in my senior year, yet even with no experience in the business field I was getting all A's in classes and ended up with a 3.98gpa. I saved all papers I wrote during my AIU classes and looking at them now, IMO they would get a C in high school at best. I bet thinking back now if I would have submitted a drawing of a happy face as an assignment it would have received an A as well. Do yourselves a favor people, stay away from AIU.
I compleated my BBA from AIU (online) in 2005 shortly before retiering from the US Coast Guard. I was thinking that with 30 years of experiance and a degree I would have a much better shot at getting a good civillian job, well guess again. I found that my AIU degree was 100% worthless, no employers considered it a real degree. So i started looking to go back to school and get a MBA, but after applying for clkasses at no less than 5 universities I found that not one of the AIU credits would transfer and I would have to start all over with my continuing education. So not only was I stuck with a 100% worthless degree from AIU, I also had over $25K in stuident loans. I should have known better with AIUs high pressure to take loans for classes. Also AIU lied about its after graduation employment assistance, resume wri8ting/review help, program compleation employment and saliery numbers etc. I also should have been concerned about my grades. I got a 3.98gpa from AIU, but in high school I was a below average student, and droped out of high school in my senior year. I have now earned several real degrees from real schools and looking back at my AIU papers that I submitted (yes I saved them all) I have to laugh and the trash I submitted. IMO looking back I could have submitted a drawing of a happy face and got an A. People save your money, go to a real school.
student loan fraud
I been attending AIU online for three years. During that time I repeatedly asked for an explanation of my loan increase, when I clearly didn't take out an excessive amount. The staff keep changing, my admission counselor quit two weeks after enrolling me according to AIU. Everything I ask about my refunds they lied to me about, I keep getting a new financial advisor. Boone will give me copies of my disclosure aid forms. I seen a change on my student board where my loans amount from two years ago went up almost 2, 000. Those semesters was paid for so why is my loans changed and increased from two years ago. I can't get any direct answers. I tried several staff, I got a staff at Georgia campus instead of Schaumburg, IL campus. The guy on the phone at Georgia campus said he never hear of the people whom the financial aid office staff told me to call. Over the last three years they switched staff do much because of my financial aid issues, I don't know who to trust. I know they are scamming student and commiting fraud. I kept an old copy of my student loans and pays from my financial board and they been alter twice with different loans amount and they keep going up. I been pressured to sign a loan repayment agreement but when I click on my student document, it says no document to be signed at this time. I am pissed my loans will be over 57, 000 when I graduate. Even my personal accountant sees errors with my loans and all types of red flags. I am taking legal action against this school, I'm still waiting for a response from the financial advisor. She's unresponsive to my questions.
school is good, resources not so much
I was blocked out of my classes on June 11th, 2019 after 6-am. I had due dates for assignments that they pushed on me to get done at a certain time, I'm considering going back to doing nothing like I did two years ago, this school gig is not working anymore. I'm approaching 40. These Colleges and Universities do not respect their students, they treat them like crap. I get two new classes and can't continue my work on them, after I took notes down and written due dates of the assignments for the classes I needed to do, I must have sniffing my cat's catnip, when I decided to return to this school. I request my refund, if they screw me over I will want to take legal action.
My number [protected].
AIU is unreliable and they screw you over.
financial aid
I see a lot of people on this forum have had bad experiences with AIU especially with them lying about financial aid covering the courses and then later charging you a debt. This college is full of liars, frauds and nothing but a diploma mills all over again! I'm meeting with an attorney and plan on filing a lawsuit against the school. If anyone is interested email me at [protected]@yahoo.com.
high pressure sales tactics, constant calling.
I had been considering a BA in Business Administration, and had been contacted by another school.
I did not solicit information from AIU, they contacted me, at about the end of February, by phone. I agreed to look at the information that was e-mailed to me, in my own good time.
Since then, I have been getting calls daily, sometimes more than one a day, today, (3/9/2019), it has already been four. They are getting progressively agressive, insisting that I sign with them, that I could qualify for loans and grants and how important it is that I start right away. I have come away with the feeling that all AIU is interested in is getting my money anyway possible, and their tactics are intended to "push the sale", no doubt getting the admissions "counseler" a comission, and "NO!" is not a word in their vocabulary .
I work in a correctional facility, and part of the training I recieved is in recognition of con jobs.
keep calling
I am a graduate of AIU. All of a sudden they are calling me like 3 or 4 times a day. How do I stop them from calling? I have no desire to go back. I just want them to stop calling me, unless they want to forgive my debt. If a person doesn't answer for a week then they are not going to answer. I just want them to stop calling because I have no desire to return. The number they keep calling is [protected].
intellipath
My problem with American InterContinental University is their Intellipath system, when it comes to certain subjects, hard subjects like Aspects of Psychology and every time I go in to learn about Long Memory and other
topics, they keep on switching the questions and answers, so that I won't get
them and I wish that they would stop that. I'm still failing or barely passing this class, because of that and they are doing it for fun, to make fun of me and
I know the staff doesn't ant me to pass this class and have me owe them money for life, good school, but that's a bad class. Do yourself a favor; when enrolling into this school, never take that class; if you do try to do some of the
work, not all of it and move on to the other class you have, because this class
will leave emotionally and physically drained.
I have been mislead.
Intellipath is a pain in the behind, but they switch the questions up because you're supposed to read the lessons and retain the information that you read. At least you haven't dealt with questions in lessons that have nothing to do with the lesson at all. My Programing and Logic course had tons of questions in Intellipath that had nothing at all to do with the specific lesson. It is hard, but college is not supposed to be easy.
schools loans in excess without hands for my degree
I was charged $43, 000 for a Bachelor's degree in IT. I never had any hands on for that Degree so I basically don't know what I am doing if I got a job. They promise you a job and Harass you after getting an associates degree to get a bacheolor's then harass you about getting a Masters Degree. I was scammed out of my money for a Degree I can not use since I got it back in 2012. They also stated that the job will train me in what I need to do well no one will hire you with out the certificates which are not included in the degree part. That is a seperate bill. The A+, network security are hands on certificates that shows the job you know what you are doing. We'll I have the paper work but I still do not know what to do if I had a job in IT, because I was never taugh any hands on from AIU Online.
harassment, american intercontinental university
I went through a long interview with a girl. One of the questions was what would I like to do with the money I make after I got my degree from AIU. I gave her an answer, but according to her it was wrong. She then suggested I buy clothes, a new car and other popular answers. So I told her I'd like to buy clothes and a new car. She was happy with that and went on to the next question. A few days later she called me back congratulating me for being accepted into AIU. They then considered themselves justified to harass me with phone calls ever since. I told them I changed my mind about attending AIU so to quit calling me, but they relentlessly called me anyway. I didn't sign up for any classes, apply for financial aid or anything. Then I started getting suspicious calls as if I owed them money. Finally I called AIU myself and the woman said she'd patch it over for them to quit calling me. Today I don't have new clothes or a new car and I don't care. I hope I nipped the scam in the bud, but if I didn't, next I'm going to the Attorney General's office and file a formal complaint. Nothing excuses the greed and amorality this institution has made their everyday policy.
forced into large student loan debt without my knowledge
I enrolled in to AIU online and like many others was contacted at work and pressured into student loans and all they said to me is that my education was paid for . I attended for 6 months and it cost me 40, 000! I have been paying it back over the course of 10 years and have been denied pell grants due to this debt. I am furious and would love to file a formal complaint and have something done. its so wrong to do, especially single mothers who pay more out in student loans than cost of living. I would atleast like a transcript!
I was also mislead into around 50, 000 in student loans for a degree that I was told didn't matter and struggle to pay back
fraudulent classes debt I don't owe
In 2004 I only took the virtual tour with American Intercontinental University. I never took one class or did one assignment for this school. But, yet they took my 2013 tax refund the above amount for a class or classes I never took. I never attended one online class with this school. The contents of their letter is a total fabrication of what happened. I only went onto American InterContinental University site for the virtual tour. In doing so I was maneuvered. I had no plans in enrolling in classes by the simple fact I had just been laid off, I had no money to invest into school at that time. Plus, I was attending Olive Harvey College, which I was eligible for financial aid with them. Where is AIU's proof I entered into their virtual class rooms? An assignment completed by me... How did I pay the $35.00? What form of payment did I use? Check, money order, (Visa, MasterCard)? They seemed to have so called proof of everything else that benefits them, not returning my money. I repeat, I didn't attend any classes. And, look at the time span July 11th-July 19th. Clearly, I had no intentions of attending classes with this school. And, no I didn't understand I was being forced into contract for classes. I wasn't even able to talk to a live person, after realizing I was being railroaded, I tried online and by phone. Lastly, I have had jobs between July of 2004 and now which I received refunds, why was this amount taken at this time, if I truly owed it from 2004, it is now 2013 nine years later? I question that by itself, and I am almost sure they have done this to others, just taking our money. In my eyes they have not proven I took any of their classes. Looks like they have attempted to charge me for looking! The Department of Education redirected my refund to AIU when in fact I didn't owe them.
