I was owed over $8000 and i have been paid back with there new system. I had more memorabilia and i gave it to them. I started recieving my money within 3 days of the auction close. Their new system is great. They have completely changed and it now is benefiting the consignors.

I have been doing business with American Memorabilia for a while. They did owe us funds from auctions. We have gotten paid with the new structure of their site. We got paid 24 hours within the auction close. American Memorabilia has paid me and is now paying faster than any other sports auction house.

Please be aware that you are continuing to do business with a company that is still not paying past consigners who don't have more items to sell. They claim their new system creates cash flow for paying everyone, but none of the many stiffed consigners with whom I've been in contact (who also didn't have more items to sell) have received the money owed. We continue to be ignored and treated like dirt. This is a company with which you wish to be associated?

Victor and Kieta are more than 1 year past due on approximately $1500 owed me from two prior auctions. They will not reply to calls or emails. They floated their business and paid their own commission, sent my memorabilia away, and still have not paid me. This is highly unethical and must be illegal as well. I will never do business with them again.

Well, maybe if they owe you $50 you are able to get paid from buyers premium of new system.
These thiefs still $8000 from us! Could you calculate how many items and at wich price we need to sell with them in order to recover $8000 from buyers premium + include credit interests that we are paying till now for those memorabilia?!
They are thiefs, they are doing illegal business, their auctions is dangerous for society; therefore, they need to be in jail.
As they told me that they are not going to return any money to me I do my best to put them in a place that they are deserve.

Glad I read this - was going to bid on items in their recent auction (ending 9/3/2009), but am afraid I would send payment and not receive the items. As a buyer, I have been more than happy with their service - they have been timely in their mailings, and have been accurate with their billing. Even the shipping and handling is relatively reasonable. But after reading this, I just have a bad feeling. My business will stay with Huggins & Scott, Lelands, Grey Flannel and Robert Edwards. They are ones I have purchased from regularly over the years and have never had any problems. Thanks again.

Too little too late - I've been a bidder of their auctions for years, and after reading the stories from the consignors, I don't trust AMI to send the items after they have my money.

i'm prompted to post this complaint after running across a similar complaint filed this month on this site. i too consigned several items of vintage sports memorabilia to this online/catalog auction house located in las vegas. the owner - victor - accepted my items at a memorabilia show last summer (2008). i was told i would receive payment within ninety days and likely, sooner. that was about eight months ago. the items were sold and they were paid. i was not. they have refused to respond to any calls requesting payment, or at least, the status. i am extremely frustrated and am seeking further info. thank you for this forum.

I've had the same problem and have contacted the BBB in Las Vegas. Of course, American Mem. contacted me after I complained to say that they were working on it. I consigned some precious sports/music memorabilia for their June, 2008 auction and I still have not received payment. They owe me $1958 and I'm praying that I will get my money.
If you look at their closed auctions for the past few months, they are pulling in a ton of money. Very, very frustrating, especially when they advertise that they will get you top dollar and very quick payment.
Please contact me at luanne994@aol.com as I would like to hear from others regarding this huge rip off company. I've been looking for a forum to voice my concerns and this it.

I'm in the same boat and was desperate for funds when I sent a family heirloom to them last summer; they even spoke of providing advances once the item was authenticated. Of course, once it was authenticated and declared "excellent", they then stated they don't do advances. It sold in September '08. Neither emails nor phone calls are productive. They forget which excuse they've already given for not paying as promised. I filed a complaint with BBB in Las Vegas last month, but have heard nothing beyond a recognition of receiving my complaint. At this point I want, make that NEED, my money (about $1600).
Tonight I emailed Kieta (again) stating that at this point I not only want my money, but I also want to get any regulatory agency I can to investigate them regarding what appears to be fraud by internet. I was glad to see someone mention this here. I'm fairly certain this falls into a federal level of fraud. FBI? I'm not sure which agency would manage that? I admit I want my money before they go down, but they shouldn't be allowed to continue abusing people's trust. What about class action lawsuit?

I too have NOT BEEN PAID over $3, 000.00 from AMERICAN MEMORABILIA. I sold some very valuable items as well in the June 2008 auction, and must have called over 50 times to complain since the auction. Kieta the accountant at America Memorabilia will not return calls, and pretends to be on another line every time I call and ask to speak to her. I did get a short, vague email stating that " partial funds " will be sent, I'm still waiting. I did call the Las Vegas BBB, and Las Vegas Attorney General today for forms to fill out.

Same story here. Sold an item in the June 2008 auction and have not been paid yet. They owe me $3, 500. They told me that they are going to have me paid in 90 days (end of April) and are working with an agency to get me paid. This is the 5th time the date has been moved as to when I was to receive my check. Let me know what the lawyers say and I may proceed as well.

I am amazed that they are still running auctions.

Unfortunately, the word has not gotten out yet as to just how bad AMI is in terms of honoring their obligations. So there are still many people out there that still hold AMI in high regard, since they probably were at one time, for a long time, a good place to consign to.

I have been looking for a forum like this for a couple of years now.

I always wondered how they were able to command such high prices for some of their items. One of my theories is that since they're not paying their consignees, the consignee feels forced to bid on other items instead of getting paid. They are then forced to bid higher than an item might be "worth", just to get it over with. Then, sometimes, when an auction ends and they know that they're not getting cash for it, they tell the winning bidder (the consignee that they owe money to) that the item was taken back by the seller, or sold to someone else. They then offer it to the second-highest bidder, who is also sometimes another person they owe money to. So what I'm suggesting is that many of the sales are attempts from the people they owe money to to get something back from them. Just a theory.

I have been monitoring the bbb website for some time now. I saved all of the screen prints as well.

On 2008.07.31 they had a "Satisfactory" rating, with 6 complaints.
On 2008.12.17 they had a "Satisfactory" rating, with 16 complaints.
On 2009.01.16 they had an "F" rating, with 23 complaints.
On 2009.02.03 they had an "F" rating, with 28 complaints.
On 2009.02.11 they had an "F" rating, with 30 complaints.
On 2009.02.23 they had an "F" rating, with 31 complaints.
As of today, they still have an "F", with 31 complaints.

I agree with Lea's comment that perhaps a Class Action lawsuit might be the best approach. Complaining to the BBB is a waste of time. Complaining to the Attorney General is also a waste of time. So unless you live in or near Las Vegas, you're going to have a tough time resolving this issue. Their contract also has a clause that requires you to resolve all issues in Las Vegas !
