My partner & I recently visited Woolworths within Carousel shopping Centre in Cannington. We both live & work locally to the store, and often visit for groceries etc. On the 19th December at approximately 1900 - 1930 we were stopped by security when leaving the self serve area. My partner and I both purchased items on separate tills. Neither of us printed a receipt, to save on paper & the fact that we each only had 2-3 items. When walking through the security panels my partner beeped, due to the fact that he had just bought toothbrush heads which had the square magnetic security device still attached( which is often found on cosmetics). The two security guards who had been standing right there the whole time stopped us, and queried if we had our receipts, when we said no, he proceeded to ask another staff member to have the last items/ receipts on our machines printed. The machine my partner had used had unfortunately been used by another customer, therefore creating some confusion. The security gaurd became very hostile and aggresive, claiming that my partner had never paid for his items, and that I should stop talking & defending him because he had clearly stolen. I told him to have a look at the camera footage, to which he refused. My partner offered to show his netbank statement in an attempt to clear the matter, he was asked how much the transaction had come to? To which he replied he had paid roughly $22 dollars something. Upon showing his statement, which clearly showed the recent transaction (time, place, amount) all accurate to the situation, he still refused to let us go, claiming that it had proved nothing. I then asked for the manager, to which we were refused by two employees. Another younger girl started looking for the transaction, to which she couldn't find. I asked her to re-scan all his items to show that both the amounts were identical proving he had in fact paid for all of them. Once she had done this, you would think we would receive some sort of apology, but no, still the security gaurd continued his harassment & refusal to let us go. At this point, it had become ridiculous. 3 Woolworths employees were trying to find the video footage, which they found moments later confirming what we had said all along. WE PAID FOR OUR ITEMS! Absolutely disgraceful treatment. And the worst part, the security gaurd laughed as he made some pathetic attempt to fix the situation. As far as I'm concerned, he needs a sturn talking to, a written warning/ should be fired. Disgusting attitude and days before xmas. You should ashamed of yourself! How you can employ people like this is really beyond me.
