Working with an audiobook producer, I produced an audiobook of my novel. We gave it to Audible to market. It wasn't difficult and we quickly had the product posted.
A few days later we found an error in the book — entirely our fault. We quickly fixed it (it didn't change the size or format of the file) and gave it to Audible to replace the old version.
But they refuse to replace it. It wasn't a matter of an additional upload fee (which we would have been willing to pay). They simply refuse to accept and upload the new version. They even refuse to suspend the sale of the wrong version until they can post the new one. I gave them the phone number of our technical staff to process the new version but they said for "technical reasons" they were unable to call them. (Phones not working?)
They have made vague references to a review committee and finding a manager who has the authority to approve an update. But nothing definite and a timeline that could be weeks. I don't know why the initial post happened so fast and a quick fix — which does not even involve their technical staff — takes weeks and layers of approval. Again, the original producer has processed this — what is the problem?
This happened on 9/12/23
Desired outcome: I'm not looking for any financial compensation or a special deal or even an apology. I just want them to take my producer's new file and upload it to Audible and Amazon. It should take about 10 minutes.
