The first time I searched English Bulldog breeders and found Beverly Hills Puppies (supposedly in Miami, FL). This puppy was for my little 6 yr old granddaughter who has a life threatening heart condition. The puppy purchased from them was sent from GA, not FL. per the paperwork from airline and I have emails where he(Martin Leon, the so called breeder) tried to explain that away. When trying to find the replacement puppy after he didn’t respond, I went on PuppyFind.com and found some and the one I clicked on happened to be the same seller (he apparently has over 10-20 avail every day so that is now a red flag). He first told me to pick a replacement puppy and we would work something out - I of course assumed he meant for free since I had already paid $1500.00 for the first one and over $1000.00 in vet bills. After my granddaughter was set on one and after sending several emails that he first ignored, he said he would "graciously" sell us a 2nd one at a discounted price. I felt he should have sent one at no fee but because of the situation here with my granddaughter I stupidly paid another $850. This replacement puppy ARRIVED here sick and I mimed told this Martin Leon at www.beverlyhillspuppies.com that this was UNACCEPTABLE and that the vet said she doesn’t think this puppy will make it! I have paid over $1300.00 in vet bills in the first 2 weeks alone! His response after the first vet visit was that the vet was trying to make money off of us again and the puppy couldn’t be sick. I assured him it was a different vet and he said OH well. He refuses to refund my $850.00 which I think after giving him $2350.00 and paying over $2300.00 in vet bills AND still without a healthy puppy for my granddaughter that I was not being unreasonable. I told him that I would contact anyone and everyone and if he was a reputable breeder he would refund my money. His response? No, the vet is lying and trying to get money from you and you just don’t know how to take care of a puppy. What an idiot! The puppy came off the airplane sick and I have vet papers to prove that. We have always had dogs in our family and never in my life until the 2 puppies from him has this happened. After investigating I found out that this is a puppy mill run out of Georgia. I had put in a dispute on PayPal and they told me I had to go thru PuppyFind. PuppyFind said I had to go thru the seller (even though their site says if you use PayPal you are protected!) All Paypal do was send a copy of my complaint to the seller, the seller but the BS about the vet over charging etc and that was the extent of PayPal's "resolution"! I contacted Puppyfind.com and they said to put a review about the seller up and I did so. After I did so I saw that another purchaser had a puppy that almost died of Parvo (one of the things the first puppy had!) and what did Puppyfind do? They took down the truthful negative postings and left up the others (who this seller probably put up himself!) I feel PayPal and PuppyFind make sooo much money off these puppy millers that they protect them! What other reason would PayPal not refund my money and what other reason was there for PuppyFind to take postings down from buyers in 3 different states that had gotten sick puppies?

We have sold many puppies via PuppyFind and occasional a puppy gets sick. We have always attempted to be just and reasonable with Lee Ann Dove. The first puppy that we sold her passed away months after we sold it to her for some unknown reason. We never received any documents from a vet on the deceased puppy. Since her first puppy apparently died we sent her a second puppy at a financial loss to us.

We are sorry to hear that her puppy is ill. We know that a puppy is a living animal, and animals some times get sick. From her correspondence the second puppy was sick of Kennel Cough. This is a condition very common with puppies. This puppy was vaccinated against Kennel Cough. Kennel Cough is not covered by our warranty. We believe that the vet is not exaggerating the facts to make money on this situation. Lee Ann Dove never sent us any medical reports or medical invoices. We believe that she should review the manner in which she has been caring for the puppy and which vet she is utilized.

Lee Ann Dove filed a dispute with PayPal and PuppyFind. PayPal and PuppyFind ruled in our favor and closed the case. We stand by our warranty and by the health certificate signed by our vet. Our vet examined and signed a health certificate which is a State of Florida form certifying that the puppy was in good health. Our vet signed the certificate which states:

"ISSUING VETERINARIAN'S CERTIFICATION: I hereby certify that the described animal was examined by me on the date show; that the vaccines, anthelmintics, and diagnostic tests indicated herein, were administered by me, or under my direction; said animal exhibits no sign of contagious or infectious diseases, and shows no evidence of internal or external parasites, excluding fleas and ticks; and to the best of my knowledge the animal has not been exposed to rabies, nor did the animal originate from an area under a quarantine for rabies."

Under the PuppyFind Advertisement under additional information we very clearly indicated:

“(See WARRANTY information on our website)”

In the same section it indicated:

“Visit our website at www.beverlyhillspuppies.com.”

Our warranty does not cover:

“Buyer understands that this guarantee does not cover fleas, ticks, ear mites, coccidia, or kennel cough”

In our warranty the Buyer agrees that no other guarantees or warranties including those of merchantability have been expressed or implied by the seller. Furthermore by purchasing a puppy the Buyer agrees to hold the Seller harmless for all items and condition not stipulated in the agreement:

“By purchasing a puppy from Beverly Hills Puppies, Inc. both BUYER and SELLER understand and agree to all terms and conditions contained herein and hereby accept this agreement. Failure to comply with all the above terms and conditions will result in the SELLER having no recourse on the limited warranty stated in this agreement. The Buyer agrees that no other guarantees or warranties including those of merchantability have been either made expressly or implied by the SELLER. There are no guarantees or warranties which extend beyond the description of this written warranty. By purchasing a puppy from Beverly Hills Puppies, Inc. Buyer agrees to hold Seller harmless for all items and conditions not stipulated in this agreement.”

Lee Ann Dove has filed complaint with PayPal and PuppyFind requesting a reimbursement of medical expense. In her complaint PayPal and PuppyFind investigated to situation did not find fault on our part.

We invite all to visit our website at www.beverlyhillspuppies.com

Respectfully yours,

I also bought my puppy from Martin Leon and she is perfect in every way! Just yesterday the vet said that she was perfectly healthy and she is such a blessing to have in our family!

I am sorry to hear that your puppy is sick, but this is no scam everyone! I got my puppy when Martin said I would and in perfect condition

Thanks!

Thank you Beverly Hills Puppies, Inc., for selling us Hercules. He is the best! We purchased an English bulldog puppy in December 2008 for delivery in January 2009. Beverly Hills Puppies, Inc. was very fast and efficient in making all the arrangements. The puppy arrived as promised. The puppy has passed his medical examination with flying colors. If anybody is going to purchase an English bulldog we highly recommend Beverly Hills Puppies, Inc. They are the best! Thank you, Joe Weinberg

My brother and I were very skeptical in purchasing a puppy from this website, even before we saw any reviews; mainly because we had been doing some research and the deals Martin was offering seemed to good to be true. Theirs were the lowest prices we had seen and even came with warranties like PAWS that other breeders charged extra for. We really wanted a bulldog and we were on a budget so we went for it. After our purchase we came across these bad reviews and we became very doubtful of our decision. We called Martin and tried to cancel our purchase. He assured us he was not running a puppy mill. Martin Leon does not sound like the warmest man over the phone but he gave us plenty reassurance and we really wanted the puppy so after plenty inquiries and much reassurance we stood by our already anticipated puppy and awaited anxiously. He arrived two days ago and we couldnt be happier with him. From the begining he did not seem overly frightened or stressed and we could tell he had obviously been socialized. He has so much personality! We took him to a vet that specialized in bull dogs and there were no problems besides he had a little runny nose. He sleeps a lot and he's so cute but when he's awake hes extremely active and dedicated explorer and hes already learning how to use the pee pads (since we cant take him outside yet). The negative reviews made such a negative impact on this experience I sincerely wanted to let potential buyers know that yes it is very unfortunate that these other buyers had such awful experiences. I truely feel for them but we couldnt be any happier with our new puppy and Martin has been great to us keeping us updated and what not so just know theres good to every bad. Agian, regardless of all our previous doubts and worries, I'm glad we were able to have this wonderful new addition. We couldnt be happier.

I also purchased 3 puppies from this scammer. The first dog is o.k, the 2nd pup has demodex mange and costs over 1, 00 dollars so far and is unbreedable. He did replace that pup but now that pup is 1yr old and needs 10, 000 worth of knee surgery or I have to put her down because of the pain and severe difficulty walking. It breaks my heart to watch these dogs suffer because of breeders reproducing sick pups with hereditary disorders. I have set a fund up in my 1yr pups name to see if I can collect enough money to save her and not put her down. I don't have 10, 000. If anyone would like to contribute we would appreciate any donation. the account is at Pioneer Savings Bank in Troy N.Y. and the fund is The Chloe' Van Vorst fund. You can get a receipt for tax purposes. The banks phone number is [protected]. I hope someone stops this man and he pays for the pain he has caused so may people and animals.

I sold a to Leeanne Dove a puppy a few years back and the neighbor who referred her to me called me and told me that she was beating the puppy for peeing in the house, it was about 2 weeks after she bought the puppy from me. The neighbor said she could hear her yelling at the puppy and beating on it. I called her and asked for the puppy back and she called me everyname in the book and hung up on me, then she called the spca on me and said I was a puppy mill, ummmm hello I only own 6 dogs. Recently she called my niece who breeds Yorkies and I happen to see her name and number on her pad of paper and I remembered the name and asked my neice about the caller and she said yeah she called about a puppy but that she was sorta weird and never called back. So I googled her and found this. Thought maybe I should mention this cause I dont want her to hurt anyones elses puppies. She lives In Virginia in the 703 area code. Dont sell any of your puppies to Leeann Dove !

Stay away from Beverly Hills Puppies. We purchased puppy with unseen birth defects. Now we are stuck with a dead puppy and a huge vet bill. Paws refused the claim because we didn't get to the vet on time. Why would we? It was an unseen birth defect. Paws should be ashamed because it is indirectly supporting this puppy mill. I purchased a beautiful eb from beverly hills puppies 21/2 years ago that has been the joy of my life. He had kennel cough when we first got him off the airplane which was quickly taken care of by medecine from the vet, which is very common for puppies. He was perfect in every way, physically and health wise. We recently had to have him put to sleep for swallowing a piece off of a dog toy that become lodged in his small intestine and perferated his intestine and toxins leaked into his body.. Emergency surgeory failed. So please be ware of any kind of rubber toys even ones marked as indestructable. I miss him soooooo much. But any ways i was very pleased with my purchase, he arrived when he was supposed to and i have papers in hand. He was a beautiful, perfect dog. My experience with beverlyhill puppies was wonderful and I thank them for the wonderful edition that I had..

We have purchase three puppies over the last five years from Martin. Everything has been perfect. I have seen their operation; it is the next thing to being perfect. We cannot understand why people must post complaints for living animals. I am sure that sometimes a living animal will become ill. My dogs over the years have also become ill. But I understand that any living animal will for time to time become ill. I feel for Martin and his organization. They are very honest and decent people. Ruben Steiner

I purchased a puppy from Marty a couple weeks ago and I have to say he is great. He came well socialized, good weight, happy, and playful. He is everything and more than I expected. The vet also said he is perfect. I do not believe that Marty is a puppymill but he does sell alot of dogs. It is my understanding that some of those dogs are other family members as well because Marty is not the only one in the family that breeds dogs. It is so sad to hear about people getting unhealthy puppies but we have to remember that they are living things and just as people, they all do not come out healthy. And many times we do not know until they get a little older. Also, my puppy is trying to eat everything, he is a vaccuum. This is very dangerous and if anything happens to him it could be my fault not the fault of the breeder. We really need to reasearch and understand the dogs that we buy before we do so. These dogs are not typical and it is known that you will more than likely spending more than average at the vet.
A couple things that I was not happy about was the food that they advised you to get, Royal Canin puppy, this food is ok but not the best, get something with salmon in it for their skin. Also that is not what they are feed before they come to you. My puppy came with some food taped to the top of the kennel and it was completely different that the food I was advised to by and because of that he has not had solid bowel movements. Changing food on puppies is very hard on them.
Also they health certificate that he came with showed that he was vacinated at 6 weeks old. Here in Florida they are not allowed to start vacinations until 8 weeks. That raised some major eyebrows at the vet. Makes me a little leary of what vet he is using and why they would not know the laws around vacinations.
With that being said he is a great puppy and he is just beautiful. Everyone that meets him wants to steal him. I guess I should have got him chipped!

Why in God's name would anyone buy a puppy when any reasonably informed person knows what goes on in puppy mills? How horrific. Anyone ever hear of rescue? Adopt! Thousands and thousands of dollars being paid to people who completely exploit and abuse animals. How do you think they have so many puppies available all the time? They breed the mothers over and over and over until they are no longer of use. It is pure and simple abuse and exploitation. Sickening! Bulldog rescue people! I can hardly believe there is anyone out there who would still buy a dog from a "breeder". You will get a sick animal 9 out of 10 times, pay thousands in medical bills and perpetuate this problem in society. I dare you to google puppy mills and see the horrific and deplorable conditions these animals are kept in. I have personal friends with the Humane Society and In Defense of Animals that rescue and break up puppy mills on a daily basis. I have personal knowledge of these horrific abuses. Why oh why would anyone "buy" a puppy online, and have it "SHIPPED"?! What a horrible beginning to life to be put in the cargo hold of a plane where the pressure is questionable and the noise unbearable. No thinking rational person would EVER do this to a living creature. For the man who posted this complaint. You should have known better. Rescue a nice loving animal for your granddaughter. I am horrified to learn that people are actually purchasing animals in this way. How dreadful. Sickening really.

Dear Kim Lores -

The reality is you get maladjusted, weird, many times sick animals when you rescule them too. To imply that breeders only provide crap quality is dead wrong. I honestly am completely tired of hearing people run around condemning people who buy from breeders. While I agree that shipping a puppy in a cargo hold borders on animal abuse, I absolutely do NOT AGREE that pure bred dogs are inferior to rescue dogs. On the contrary, pure bred pets are leaps and bounds superior to rescue animals in nearly every way, including health. If you care at all about a well adjusted, good personality, upbeat and mentally stable animal - pure breds are the way to go. Every one I know who rescued a dog deals with major mental issues and emotional baggage. There is some value in getting a pure bred dog. Your time would be better spent encouraging people to not give up their existing dogs, rather than going around condemning people who just want a clean, normal, happy puppy from a legit breeder. Im thankful for these reviews of this bad breeder however. I was just about to buy from them. No more.

Please note that the U. S. Secret Service has arrested and charged Lee Ann Dove with embezzlement from her employer. The case of US vs. Dove is in the United States District Court for Eastern District of Virginia Case # 1:11CR00473. Lee Ann Dove apparently utilized unauthorized funds from her employer to purchase for her the puppies in the complaint of 2008. This will supplement the complaint posted by Lee Ann Dove of 05-18-2008.

Beverly Hills Puppies was scheduled to testify in behalf of the United States government and against Lee Ann Dove. The hearing was scheduled for January 23, 2012. Apparently a plea bargain was agreed to eliminating the need of a trial. This case speaks for itself as to the character of Lee Ann Dove.

I wished I would have read this before we purchased our puppy! We bought our puppy through "Top Breeders of America" web site and the puppy was from Beverly Hills Puppy Martin Roy Leon. I live in Texas and received our English Bull Dog in October. Our puppy arrived with a rash ...that was actually a horrible life long condition caused from a very low immune system. NEITHER company has yet to do anything on the warranty that they both claim on their websites... It is now May! They have the puppy back (we sent it back in January)... But we have not been reimbursed for anything! We have been out almost $4000 now and have nothing! (includes the price of the puppy...which I discovered is about $1000 more when you go through "Top Breeders of America". Very stupid mistake on my part! ) I have receipts, vet letters, emails, and pictures to prove this all. They have not returned phone calls or emails! I will be posting more. I want everyone to see what our family has gone through as well as how sick this puppy was! It's very sad! I wish I would have know :(

I think this is all disgusting ! How can people run puppy mills, its just a disgrace ! Plus Martin Roy Leon stating that Lee Ann Dove was arrested for embezzlement... What the heck has that got to do with the sick puppy she received ! I think that comment is purely trying to take the heat off the obviously disgraceful puppy mill that is being run. You should be ashamed of yourself. You are the dog in this whole thing, not those poor unfortunate puppies !

I just bought a great looking bull terrier from them. After reading these comments I was a little worried but I bought the puppy anyways. After day 2 she started vomiting and wouldn't hold anything. I have spent more that 1000 dlls in vet bills. Martin also stopped answering my e mails and paws warranty always finds a way not to reimburse you. He wouldn't send me my akc papers untill I made a claim in paypal. Buy at your own risk.

to me

Leeann Dove will spend 2 years in Alderson penitentiary, she pleaded guilty to all counts charged against her. She will be on three years of probation after she serves her time. She will have 200 dollars per month garnished from her wages for the rest of her life. She has forfeited her vehicles and motorcycle to the State. She does not own a home as she sold her townhouse for 1 dollar to her boyfriend Cecil Elkins, who was her able and willing assistant in crime. She tactfully sold the townhouse to him before she started stealing from Great Falls Landscapes. Thought you might like to see that justice has prevailed and she certainly earned her punishnment. At the end of the day maybe she will learn that being a criminal is a terrible thing. Jeff

DaisyMobilePetGrooming.com gave me the best sense of relief. I’d never had a mobile groomer for my dog, Glock, so I didn’t know what to expect. Other groomers were rude and unavailable but Daisy’s was caring and always accessible. The conversation on the first phone call was so friendly and down to earth. Daisy’s was on time and my groomer further eased my mind by being nice and knowing what he was doing. His trained eye and ability to handle my dog in a friendly and confident way was a relief from some of the other rude services that I’d heard about. My boy loved the treatment he received as the groomer and I shared stories! Daisy’s service was high quality with immaculate results. And I love the all-in-one convenience of all their mobile pet services. Daisy’s Mobile Pet Grooming is a relief.

What are you people even complaining about?!?! All of these reviews seem to disregard that what you're buying, a PUPPY, is a LIVING animal. If your kids got sick, would you call yourself bad parents? I bought a bulldog from Beverly Hills Puppies more than 2 years ago and I could not be more happy with him. I looked up the breeder again to buy a 2nd pup from Martin and found these reviews..Some of you on here are PURE evil. I had a wonderful experience buying from this breeder. If any of you have your doubts about Beverly Hills Puppies please email me at ldaemont@hotmail.com I will be more than happy to share with you my experience and I cannot wait to get a second puppy from them .

I also bought a beautiful little puppy from Martin...The transaction was fast and went smooth...within a week after receiving him, he developed cherry eye which will need surgery...after receiving the last 3 generations of his bloodlines, I was quite saddened to see how much inbreeding he had...also saddened to see the AKC will even register them with so much! I will most likely have a couple surgeries to pay for and no response back from Martin...I have always rescued my bulldogs in the past, so I am aware of all the possible issues...sad to pay for a puppy to have the poor little guy in pain! Shameful! Never again!

PLEASE BEWARE! Wow! It surprises me how far back these complaints go and nothing has been done about this... I purchased my French Bull dog around June 2015 (pretty recent) and have had nothing but health issues with her. I am upset with myself for not having researched Beverly Hills Puppies, Inc. first. Our baby came to us sick from the beginning. Where do we start? She came to us infected with Giardia and of course gave that to my other healthy baby boy (NOT purchased from Beverly Hills Puppies, Inc.). Her feet are deformed and her legs do not work correctly. She cannot chew as a normal puppy would chew. Martin of course was emailed once we had all the facts from the veterinarians-5 of them to be exact. We purchased her to breed with our male once they reached the breeding age. That will never happen. She also may have water on the brain per the veterinarian but further tests are needed and will cost several thousand dollars to run. She will need to be on medication for this illness the rest of her life due to the fact she gets seizures from this health issue. She is again at the Vet's as we have been told Giardia never gets cured. It can come back over time... Although I was able to get some of my money back, (no help from Martin Leon) I have spent close to $5000 with the purchase price and veterinarian bills, medications, etc. We cannot return her to Beverly Hills Puppies, Inc. as we would fear what would happen to her due to her health issues. AND we never have received the so called AKC papers on the puppy not that it matters now. We even have written letters on file from our veterinarian regarding the health of the puppy. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE! Do your research, read the comments. If you are able, go see the puppies personally and meet the parents of these puppies so you know what you are getting. This has changed our lives in a way you would not understand. Everybody knows how attached you can get to your puppy. It breaks our heart to hear the veterinarian say that she may need to be euthanized. Not something you expect when purchasing an innocent puppy. We just want to prevent this from happening to anybody else.

I purchased a French bulldog a little over a year ago from Beverly Hills bulldogs. Martin was prompt in answering my questions and concerns. My puppy did have kennel cough when I got him, however, other than that he is amazing. He is the sweetest and best looking frenchie! He doesn't have any of the genetic issues French bulldogs are prone to and I couldn't imagine our life without him.
