We have been getting phone calls from bmg aka global group holdings too. They have called my cell looking for my husband, they have called his parents, our home phone and co - workers. They have been calling us for over a year now. Every time they claim they are filing a law suit against us unless we pay the money but we have yet to see anything. Today i got a phone call from a mr. Micheal grey who claims he is an investigator trying to track down my husband to serve him papers. Really? We are not hard to find. I would like to see these papers. I'm sure this is a scam and i have already reported these people to the fbi before and i guess i am going to have to do it again.

I received a call today from someone named James Jenkins (Phone number [protected] from PMC, LLC on my caller ID) who stated that I took out a BMG payday loan in 2013. While I did take out a payday loan in 2013, I paid it back in full, immediately, and have documentation confirming that. Like in the messages above, Mr. Jenkins threatened me with immediate legal action if I did not pay $588 immediately to avoid legal ramifications, court fees, etc. He also could not supply me with the original loan paperwork. He was rude, talked over me, and refused to field any of my concerns or questions. So, I guess I'm just adding to the above sordid pot. It sucks that people like this exist in this world.

I just received a phone call from a [protected] number stating they were a group called LAM calling on behalf of BMG. They said I owe them $680 from a previous delinquent loan and if I don't settle this more legal action will be taken. They couldn't give me any information on when I supposedly took out this loan or any other information of that sort. Also everything they were saying to me didn't make any sense and was all so confusing. So while they were talking I decided to google this BMG group and came upon this page which showed other people have been through this before and it is all a scam. This whole situation was scary and frustrating because I was really considering to settle this situation, but luckily I did some research!

These guys had someone call me and leave a voicemail from an unknown number. The woman, Karen Brown, said she was an independent process server from my county and was coming the next day to serve me with legal documents. I called the call back number she left, a Houston, TX number, [protected] and they told me they were from BMG Financial and that I owed monwy from 2011 and that I wrote 2 bad checks (I don't even write checks, never have) the man I was speaking to said all evidence pointed to me that I did this and that if I went to court, I'd have to pay $4, 000 because now they wanted triple the amount, but if I paid right now I'd only have to pay $832.00. I'm telling him I'm not abut to pay for something that I didn't do. Then his "manager" comes on the phone and he's asking me if I filed a police report since I'm saying its fraud I said no so he says well honestly 99% of these cases are won by the plaintiff if you don't have a police report. He's telling me I'm better off paying the $832 now instead of going to court. The entire thing was bogus. He asked if this was the first I've heard of this and I told him nothing like this is even on my credit report. He says it wouldn't be on my credit report. More lies. Then I googled the name they gave me, BMG Financial, and that came up as a mortgage firm in Florida. Clearly scammers who are trying to get money from any and everyone who is gullible enough to pay them. Please beware.

i just received a call from a Ray Garrett at NEA Group who 'bought' a contract from BMG. I owe $987 from 2012 but they will settle the claim for $527.86. He said the first and last Tuesday of every month a 'server' comes out to serve papers for the claims. The called my workplace and reached my desk through operator. The # is [protected]. A search of this number shows it coming from India.

I was called today and was told I owed for a payday loan I took out in 2011. I told the rep that I've never taken out a payday loan. She transferred me to her "supervisor". I was told the money was deposited into a credit union account that I have. I was told that I applied online and stopped making payments so it was sent to collections in 2012. The guy had my social and address I moved away from in 2006. He said I need to file a police report because I owe $900 plus and I have to pay if I don't report identity theft. I said I'm not calling anyone and to send me validation of this debt. I told him I closed that account in 2007 so how was money deposited in it? That's when said he would close the collection account and they won't contact me again. That easy?!?! SCAM!

It's both comforting and distressing to read so many versions of my own experience over the last three years. The common denominators are using bullying to collect on a closed or non-existent account, phone calls from various areas codes all over the country, and BMG. I hate to tell you this Ronda - but you will continue to hear from them. I've done the same thing as you many times - I've provided evidence that the account was closed with no outstanding debt, I've told them I know they are a scam and demanded a written statement of validation of the debt, and have been told a number of times that they had closed my account. In a month or two or even less you'll be called by someone else. They use "spoof" or "masked" phone numbers - meaning the area code and location in your caller ID is not where they're actually calling from. I once received a call from Fresno CA about a week after receiving a call from Illinois. I thought the voice from Fresno sounded familiar so after ending the Fresno call I blocked my caller ID and called Illinois - the same person answered the phone. They're shameless. They wont admit to being the same person you've spoken to countless times. Every time you explain the details and facts of your particular case which should begin a process of verifying and closing the case you're simply wasting your time. They know the debt is not valid and don't care. HOWEVER, the fact that they are engaged in an outright fraud does have some benefits. They cannot reveal what company they actually are and WHERE they actually are. So none of things they are threatening any of us with - court cases, wage garnishments, law enforcement involvement - can actually happen because it order to do any of those things they have to identify themselves to a court or to law enforcement. The same is true of a standard letter of validation of the debt - it has to contain details such as who and where they are. So they can never actually validate the debt - which means they can never collect it. After complaining once I received a "validation letter" but it may as well have been written by a grade school student. It was entirely deficient in meeting the legal standards for what has to be in a debt validation letter in order for them to legally pursue collection. That's the good news. The bad news is they are all about the telephone. You'r'e going to get calls. I'm retired so there's no job for them to contact - so I just keep adding their numbers to my call block list and I have always more blocking spaces than they have phone numbers. You can also change your number and remove it from public listing. They operate based on a single piece of information. All of us seem to have had a payday loan at some point over the past five to ten years - usually on on-line because a lot of those businesses come and go like lemonade stands - and the probably sell their information. Make no mistake - this is a crime. It's wire fraud because their primary means of perpetrating their fraud is the phone. And because they work across state lines they are engaged in a federal crime. The problem is it's not easy to track them down. It a lot of investigative time to come up with a result - and it does come down to a dispute in each individual case as to whether there might be a legitimate debt in there even though they have completely shredded the rules for legal debt collection. If anyone has an actual physical address that someone associated with BMG really is at please share it. On this site alone there is so much evidence of fraudulent activity and if enough information becomes available that law enforcement would know where to go investigate one of these phone boiler rooms then the mass of our collective experience would go a lot farther with getting them to act than if we just complained individually. And my experience and my theory is - that it might be just one boiler room. Buffalo NY came up in one post above and it has come up for me as well. So has Los Angeles. I had managed to isolate the phone calls I was receiving to a Los Angeles area code - even though none of the actual calls had come from that area code. I did it by cursing one of them out so badly and then hanging up on them - and the next thing I knew my phone was ringing and it wasn't any of the previous numbers - it was an LA number - and the woman I had just cursed out was calling me on her cell phone to tell she didn't appreciate my language. From that point on whenever they called I would answer and say "How's the weather in Los Angeles" and they hung up immediately . The important thing is NEVER think you can end this by paying them something - because, like the phone calls themselves, it will just let them know they've got someone who thinks one payment will buy you peace and quiet. If they're willing to make up one debt they'll make up a second one a couple months later, and on and on. Be strong and don't be afraid. And if they're calling your work tell whoever, your boss or office manager, that this is a scam and they should not take their calls or take them seriously - and if they're skeptical ask them to try to get a company name and physical address that they can then verify on the internet. And then point them to this site. These ### can NEVER win.
