parts markup
Re: Invoice BC412-81312
I brought my car into your shop at 15826 San Pedro on January 4, 2019 because my car was shaking when I brake. I knew I was going to be needing work done on the front-end, however I was not prepared for the cost of the parts to have it all done. I paid for the work to be done, because I couldn't afford to not have it done. However, in talking with my father and my son-in-law, they said that the cost was way over-charged. I started looking at the cost of the parts and was astonished at the mark-up on them. I was told that the parts could only be bought from the dealer, so they would cost more, however the part numbers that were listed on the invoice, were basic part numbers, which I was able to find on both Auto Zone and Rock Auto, at a much lower price. I paid anywhere from $850-$1300 more for these parts, then if I had gone out and bought them on my own. How can you possibly justify such a markup? I go to your facility trusting that I am getting excellent care, however I cannot afford to pay the outrageous prices on the parts that you are putting on my car.
I would love to hear back from someone who can explain the disconnect on where you got the parts from, as well as to how you can justify such a huge mark-up on the parts you did put on my car.
Regards,
Kelly Mireles

manager is a liar!
On last oil change of $80 they told me oil filter didn't needed to be replaced, but no discount was given. I talked to the manager and told me my next oil change was going to count as the 4th and was going to be the free one. I only had 2. I went today and guess what... All BS they charged me the $80 and played like it was nothing on the system and the employee called the manager and still they were like stupids saying there is nothing on the system. NOT RECOMENDED! if I pay for an oil change they should change the oil filter its already paid! I don't care if its not needed to be replaced, I paid for a full oil change!
resurface rotor twice, causing specs to go below requirement
Resurface rotor twice, causing specs to go below requirement.
I was charged twice for a job poorly done. This is my 3rd time at this location Brake Check #406, the manager agrees this resurface should not have happen, even the documentation states below the required amount. I need this issue to be resolved, highly disappointed in service I was provided.
brake service on 05/29/2018
On 05/29/2018, I had my vehicle (2014 Kia Sedona) serviced at Brake Check Store 527. I spent 458.00 for Brake Services. On 06/01/2018 I went to the car wash and looked in my glove box for a bag of quarters (approximately $15.00) that I keep there and discovered that the money was missing. My vehicle has not been any where else for any kind of servicing since my visit to Brake Check. I had just used some of the quarters a day prior to going to Brake Check. One of the employees servicing my vehicle at Brake Check removed the coins from my vehicle. The Key for my wheel locks on my vehicle was also in the glove box. I have frequently used Brake Check and has never had any problem such as this.
A THIEF working at Brake Check Store 527 at 3825 S. Loop West, Houston, TX stole a bag of quarters from my vehicle.

Caliper repair
Took my truck in to replace the left rear caliper that was not releasing fully! They said what they do is rebuild the old one and would be like new! After 28932 left store and sure enough it over heated! Went back and they told me it would be another 161.00 to replace caliper! The 289.32 was for nothing! Said rebuild sometimes doesn't work! Corp. Doesn't even return calls! Stay away, their guarantee is worthless... Total ripoff!
rip off/slammed me with addl charges
On Saturday, 4/16/2011, at 7:23 am I arrived at Brake Check located at 8650 Marbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78227. The reason for my visit was an oil change and to get my brakes repaired as the rear brakes were squealing quite loudly. I was greeted by Charles, who had my 2006 Dodge Caravan taken to the bay to have the tires removed and a full inspection of the...

Tried to rip me off
My husband, a soldier about to deploy, to our Honda into the Brake Check in Harker Heights Tx. Our brake line was leaking and need to be replaced, they quoted us 700 dollars for the repair.
My husband had told the i was going to be driving the car to California after he left. The next day we received a call from the Brake Check mechanic stating that our radiator was completely clogged with "stop leak" and that it need to be replaced along with all of the belts.
The problem with this is we just bought this car from my husbands step-father, who works at Honda, he had replaced the radiator himself and knew for a fact that no "stop leak" had ever been put into our car.
Dear LizLady,
We are a family-owned and operated company and our customers are our top priority. We don't have a practice of recommending unnecessary repairs. We do a thorough inspection and let you know what we find.
As we discussed when you were in the store, we don't know for sure if Stop Leak was used, only that the color of the fluid in the radiator is consistent with the color that Stop Leak creates when used in a radiator. The fluid should be a clear blue or green, and as we showed you, it was brown. Our concern was only for your safety on your trip. While we may never know what caused the radiator fluid to be gunky, we made a repair recommendation based on what we could see from the inspection and our years of experience.

Rip off
I am filing a complaint with brake check for unsatisfactory performance after taking my vehicle to brake check for the last time I was told by a technician at brake check that brake check installed the wrong rotors on my vehicle I was charged $1500 for the parts and labor of this installation and now I am forced to take my vehicle to the dealer and reinstall the correct rotors on my vehicle to stop the problems I have had with my vehicle since February of 2009 the month I first took my vehicle to brake check also it came out to be $1000 less then what brake check charged me after a year of problems and inconvenience brake check has caused me at first my brakes were still squeaking after they had replaced the brakes, rotors, and hardware so i took it back twice to have the brakes replaced within one month then my brakes started shaking due to no clips holding the brakes in i took it back and after the clips falling off twice my rims were damaged brake check refused to pay for the replacement of my rims but they had the rims repaired by their own repair shop the rims are ok now but i still have a problem with my brakes
I feel like I was cheated out of my money and time with this company and now I have to go to a real mechanic to get the job done properly.
I believe with my experience with brake check this company has no business working on foreign vehicles or any vehicle I might add I highly recommend that no person take their vehicle to brake check this company overcharges and does a bad job.

Scam and lies
I brought my car to BRK CK in Jan 09 to fix my break cable. Quoted $100.00 to fix went back did not have part cost $65.00. Since then my car has been doing something weird and I finally took it to my mechanic and he said that when they took my brake cable apart the must not have put the electronic control back together properly or must have loosened something.
So I have spent 65.00 and now my car has another problem. I would like to be reimbursed the money I spent and also have my Mechanic fix the problem and have brake ck pay for this. I really do not want to take my car back there due to the rude manager which was there at that time. Aslo since the my radio cuts in and out also.
I just want done to my car what I ask to be done and at the price he quoted but ultimately I do not see myself bringing my car to your store. Please do the correct thing for the customer and I will not spread the bad word to all I know instead I will tell the good that you do if your work is not done properly.
This is not my first complaint at this location check you records.

ripped off
I took my 2003 toyota camry to Brake Check with a complaint of a shimmy when the brakes were applied. $316.90 later the shimmy was still there and now the brake pedal went almost to the floor when applying the brakes took the car back the very next day and was told they would have to look into it and it would probably be another $300.00 or more. Took it to...

Please do not go to Brake Check. Their service is terrible. They charge you for stuff you don't need to do or didn't even ask them to do. We had gone there obviously to get our brakes checked. They told us that they would get the check done in 2 to 3 days. After that when we went to pick it up we were asked to wait for half an hour but ended up waiting for more than 45 minutes. They got it done and we took it home. On the way back the brakes did not feel as though the needed repairs were done. We had to stop at another garage to get it fixed properly. we will never go to this place again.

We love to steal money by taking you customers for fools. ha!
Dear CHristiano,
I am sorry that you felt the repairs on your car were not done properly. We hold our customer satisfaction as top priority and if it doesn't get done right the first time, we promise it's not done until it's done right! While it's inconvenient to come back, I wish you had brought the vehicle back in so we could look at the work done and determine if something was wrong.
We'd love for you to give us another chance. We are a family owned and operated company and our growth and success depends on having happy customers. Please contact us at marketing@brakecheck.com so we may research your case and have a district manager evaluate the repairs.
