The complaintant Avglae ordered and got a legal kit from CanLaw. He then cancelled his credit card payment thereby stealing from CanLaw
He is a thief and a deadbeat and con artist.
He owes CanLaw and we have every right to use vigorous collection methods to get this common ### to pay his bill

Canlaw is run by a bottom of the barrel ###-sucking thief; a wife beater; a woman hater; a woman beater; an infant beater (he went to jail for assaulting his 12 month old infant baby - what a dickless coward he must be); convicted for Employment Insurance fraud; and extortionist extraordinaire: J. Kirby Inwood. Mr. Inwood is currently under investigation by the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre of the Government of Canada and for distributing hate mail.

What ever you do, do not provide them with personal details, especially financial information. They will start running up made-up charges against your credit card and bank accounts, without providing any service or product. They are dangerous to seniors, distraught mothers, and other vulnerable people and is the source of voluminous outpouring of ethnic, racial hate mail.

AVOID THE CANLAW.COM SITE AT ALL COSTS.

We ordered two legal will kits from Canlaw cost of $198, didn't receive them so asked to resend or refund. He called me a ### and accused me of lying! The person ripped me off and berated me by calling me a ###. STAY away from site. I will report to Canadian Business Bureau. Why is he still active after all these complaints?

CanLaw legal kits are around $20 each. There is NO WAY he ordered anything from CanLaw that cost $198

He is just another deadbeat thief

I was defrauded $62 from this company. I first received an email with my receipt. Then a received an email with a link to download a .zip file. This file is password protected and I wasn't given the password. Upon asking for this password I was threatened, berated and ripped off. I will be trying to get the funds back from my credit card company. DONT use this site!

Anyone thinking of using Canlaw should read this warning from the Law Society of Upper Canada:

Public complaints about CanLaw lawyer referral service
The Law Society has received complaints from the public and lawyers regarding an online lawyer referral service called CanLaw (www.canlaw.com). The complaints come primarily from women who report receiving abusive and obscene emails from CanLaw when they request a referral for a lawyer (especially if the referral is for a family relations matter).
One woman who requested a referral received a reply which said: "Are you stupid? You want us to provide you with thousands of lawyers' names for free? Piss off you pathetic lunatic."
A woman who requested a referral in a custody dispute, but had her credit card rejected when she tried to pay CanLaw's $5.00 service charge, received this reply: "You are a deadbeat. You are also a lunatic. I hope you and your family die. Now go to hell."
The woman who received this email was particularly concerned because she had provided CanLaw with a great deal of personal information, including her home address and phone number, the type of legal dispute she was involved in and her credit card number.
Women lawyers who have registered with CanLaw also report receiving abusive emails. One lawyer who was not registered with CanLaw, but asked CanLaw to stop sending her unsolicited emails, received a response calling her "another stupid little girl who got through law school on her back" and a "despicable, ignorant, round-heeled, feminist bigot."
Some members of the public mistakenly assume CanLaw, which is based in Toronto, is in some way affiliated with or approved by provincial law societies or the Canadian Bar Association. CanLaw is not associated with any law society or with any bar association and its principal is not a lawyer.

Since 2000, various law societies have received numerous complaints about CanLaw and it's principal. They relate to messages that are offensive and expose the recipient to hatred and abuse. They include the following comments:
“Women like you are monsters who take and take and take.”
“Look you pompous power made two bit flunky, we do not take orders from the likes of you.”
“You are a sick, hate male sexist bigot who is definitely trying to restrict my freedom to express my opinion.”
Avoid CanLaw and it's lawyer referral index which is out of date anyways.

I agree with the comments above. I had a very similar experience. Incredibly abusive language in response to my request for the password to open up a zip file. I can't believe this guy is still in business.

Avoid him at all costs

All of the above comments regarding Canlaw are true. One fact not mentioned is that Kirby Inwood, John B. Styles (a.k.a Inwood) and Kirwood Inc. (his former company) were sued by The Canadian Magazine Index for Trademark Infringement in 2002. A copy of the court proceedings can be found here:

Not true –– actually, LawyerLocate sued J.Kirby Inwood and Canlaw for trademark infringement for register domain names that were similar to it's own namely, lawyerlocate.info and lawyerlocate.biz. A copy of the court proceedings can be found here:

Seems it is Inwood who is a liar and a cheat.

I recently posted a fair review of this business on Google. Here's the response I got:
"half a million Canadians disagree with you. The rest would if they see how stupid you are."
Nice guy – great PR tactics.

I had a similar experience when I ordered a separation agreement and will kit from Canlaw and was never given an access code for the file. Emails were not responded to and I was out $155. Stay away from this site as they will take your money.
