I opened up a checking account with capital one since I've had the account capital one automatic system has been randomly restricting my account for unknown reasons when I called to see why I was told by a rep that my account was new and that they didn't have any control over the system I verified myself and thought to myself hey they are just doing their job up until that same week I found myself getting the account restricted 5 times in one week and the following week it started all over with capital one restricting my account since I work from home I have lost my job because I was forced by capital one to call them and verify myself or not be able to use the account since I set my direct deposits to the account I couldn't risk the account being closed down so there were times that I logged off of work just to verify my identity times I would call they would verify me by asking me questions that I used to set up the account then they would ask if it's ok for them to send a link to my phone number on file I say yes and they say to make sure there are no glares or shadows since I am a part time photographer I know all about how to take pictures i used a dark green folder and laid my license on the folder both sides but the system sometimes wouldn't verify me even though the representative would admit that the pictures were indeed readable but couldn't understand why the system continues to not be able and verify me then since they could only send the link to my phone once I found myself calling 4-6 times before I had to get a supervisor to manually verify me this has been going on every wee that I've had the checking account each time the representative including the supervisor would apologize for the inconvenience since I was laid off due to the inconsistencies from capital one I was forced to take out loan of 15k from Junius bank to cover some bills and last minute Christmas shopping the funds cleared on December 19,2023 I logged into the account and there was another restriction on the account so I called as usual but this time was different because the system know longer was allowing the representatives to send any one time codes to my phone number on file and they said that they were instructed to have me forwarded to the fraud department I spoke with them they verified me then begin to send a link to me were I had to upload my license and as per usual the system was not able to verify me so I asked the fraud unit if there was anything else I could do because the system is corrupt and continues to not be able to verify me he said that he could no longer send me another link and to call back so I did just that and once again the system would not allow the rep to send any passcodes to my phone and they were instructed to forward the call to fraud department when I spoke with them they sent me another link and I took a feont and back picture of my license the rep admitted that the picture was a really good picture and that his fingers was crossed that it go through but it didn't so he said that I would need to go into the branch then he hung up so I had to call back a 3rd time that same day were I was forwarded again to the fraud department and that's when a a young lady said that after there initial review capital one was going to close my account I asked her why and what did I do she said I don't know but your account will be closed than I responded by saying so vani just go in to the branch and verify myself she said no that option is no longer available and that we will mail you a check then I asked her if I could come into the branch and get my funds she said that she would haft to put on a request to see first which to me all sounds illegal to do it's one thing to put restrictions on my account then cause me to loose my job now you close my account and prevent me from accessing my funds days before Christmas is bizarre capital one has caused me a financial burden and they are preventing me from accessing my funds.
Claimed loss: Lost my job and they closed my account after 15k loan hit the account
Desired outcome: Public apology and allow me to go in person to verify my identity and access my funds. If they want to move forward with closing then that's fine but allow me to get my funds from the account.
