On 4/5 my 85 yr old Mom was admitted outpatient for a TKA. She had a lengthy stay because she got CDiff then a UTI that went septic from sitting poop constantly. She was discharged to home with no support no rehab offered with pneumonia. Centura’s patient advocacy will not follow up. I took my son to get some blood work done and have a check up because he having some problems with fatigue and severe allergic reactions. Dr. Brockman spent more time talking about her son and family than examining my son. She continually interrupted me when I was trying to explain the symptoms and tests I would like done. All she wanted to do was quickly write a prescription for allergy medication before any tests had been done or blood work. After having to tell her how to do her job and demanding she run tests I was told that I would receive a call about the blood test results in a couple of days. It took over a week to hear back even after I called. When I finally received a phone call I was told there was something off on the blood work, the person who called didn't appear to be a medical professional, most likely part of office staff. The explanation that was supposedly written by Dr. Brockman was incomplete and didn't make any sense as to why she was talking about a previous shoulder injury from over a year ago when blood test results were supposed to be discussed. This was just read to me word for word by office staff. I had questions as to what it meant and no explanation could be given. I was told that doctors don't have time to call patients to discuss the results and I could make another appointment and be charged again to see a medical professional if I wanted more information. Apparently the results will be mailed to me. I guess from there I need to do my own research on the results or pay for another doctors visit. I thought a doctors job was to provide care for the patient. Now I have a 17 year old son with something off on his blood work and no idea what to do about it or what any of it means.
Desired outcome: I would like a full investigation on the care Dr. Brockman is providing. Writing a prescription before there are any tests are done is completely irresponsible and dangerous.
Wound care/unethical billing
On February 1, 2021 I went to St Anthony’s wound care clinic to try to get help with a non healing wound that developed during Lyme Disease. I was waiting awhile for the provider and my leg began to cramp (symptom also caused by this illness) so I sat on the floor to try to stretch it out. The provider came in and with an alarmingly vitriolic tone scolded me to get off the floor, it’s filthy.
I explained that this began during my treatment of Lyme Disease. She rolled her eyes and shook her head. I explained the extensive antibiotic protocol and said that it may be linked to this condition. Again, patronizing and dismissive. I explained that it was extremely painful to the touch and if covered it would swell and spread. Another eye roll. She asked what I was putting on it and I told her propolis ointment. She said that she didn’t know what that was but she had a special medical honey. Propolis is a healing agent in honey, how could she not know this. She said that she was going to cover it and leave it alone for a week. I said no it is too painful and it makes the wound worse. They did it anyway, I wanted to get out of there. The bandage made the wound swell and fell off before I got to my car.
Billing says that I consented and therefore this is adequate treatment. Did she force that bandage so that they could bill me $1600+ eventhough I specifically told her that it could not be covered? The provider was hostile, I’ll informed and now no longer working for St Anthony’s so she can not be questioned. And now I am expected to pay the balance of $598.12 for zero medical advice and for mistreatment of the wound that happened while I was in pain and needing to get away from this terribly unprofessional provider. I am still being billed.
Desired outcome: Centura has already collected money from my insurance. I would like you to stop billing me for the remainder as I did not receive medical advice and the bandage that you refer to as treatment was against my consent.
Is Centura Health Legit?
Centura Health earns a trustworthiness rating of 91%
Highly recommended, but caution will not hurt.
We found clear and detailed contact information for Centura Health. The company provides a physical address, phone number, and 2 emails, as well as 5 social media accounts. This demonstrates a commitment to customer service and transparency, which is a positive sign for building trust with customers.
The age of Centura Health's domain suggests that they have had sufficient time to establish a reputation as a reliable source of information and services. This can provide reassurance to potential customers seeking quality products or services.

We looked up Centura Health and found that the website is receiving a high amount of traffic. This could be a sign of a popular and trustworthy website, but it is still important to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of the site before sharing any personal or financial information
However ComplaintsBoard has detected that:
- While Centura Health has a high level of trust, our investigation has revealed that the company's complaint resolution process is inadequate and ineffective. As a result, only 18% of 22 complaints are resolved. The support team may have poor customer service skills, lack of training, or not be well-equipped to handle customer complaints.
- Centura Health protects their ownership data, a common and legal practice. However, from our perspective, this lack of transparency can impede trust and accountability, which are essential for establishing a credible and respected business entity.
Eric Matthew Stramel, DO
On October 25th emailed Eric Matthew Stramel, DO requesting information and a prescription for a device called Aerobika to help loosen chest Phlegm. This is the exact email I sent.
"Both my wife and I received the omicron vaccine 9/28/2022 and the next day we both became sick. My sickness seen that's documented on the web site became a virus that led to nasal and chest congestion. I have COPD and my nephew has severe COPD. He recently had Zepher valves inserted into his left lung. Afterwards he was prescribed a device called Aerobika which has helped loosen chest congestion. I still after 4 weeks have some nasal and chest congestion with persistent coughing. Could you prescribe that device for me so I can pick up the device at the Target CVS on Gartrell? Thanks'
On November 1st this is the exact email sent to Eric Stramel office from me."Your statement says 48 hours to respond. I sent an email request October 25th and have yet to heat anything. This is not the first time I've requested information via email. I just don't get it. You're in the health industry and you should be more responsible for your patients/customers. Maybe you just don't need the business. "On November 1st this is the response received from Sierra Melendez, MA."I apologizes for the inconvenience. I have asked our team to follow up with you regarding your purchasing option for an aerobika device. Hopefully our team can get back to you by the end of the day or tomorrow the lasted. Thank you for your patience and again my apologies for the inconvenience."Today I sent a reply email to Sierra Melendez, MA."Apparently, your office lacks in customer service, so that leaves me with no choice but to FIRE you. I will follow up with Centura corporate to explain my reasons for leaving. "
For many years I have all my medical issues addressed by Centura associates. I would like to continue that relationship, but I need to have help finding another pulmonologist. I live in the Parker, Colorado area and would appreciate having someone close. I hope you will help me as Centura has many times in the past in seeking a new pulmonologist,

ER visit
FIRST OFF, DO NOT GO TO ST. ANTHONY'S SUMMIT MEDICAL CENTER! I would rather sit in pain for 3 hours down the mountain to Denver than go here ever again. You pay a ridiculous amount of money for them to do essentially nothing! I went to St. Anthony's Summit Medical Center in Frisco, Colorado on June 4th, 2022 due to a foreign object lodged in my eye. I tried my very best at home to get it out but it wasn't working so we made the decision to head to the ER in Frisco, Colorado. That was the start of a VERY BIG mistake. We arrived very late, around 1:30 or 2 in the morning, and had to wait for awhile. I wasn't worried about it thats fairly normal for an ER! Once I was admitted, I was greeted by a very stressed ER doctor. She had said that she was the only doctor there and had told me she would be right with me. 30 minutes later she is back and essentially asks the questions needed to know that I have something in my eye. She then proceeds to use a q tip to try and get the foreign object out of my eye with no luck. So then, surprisingly she asks my boyfriend to take the object out of my eye which he manages to do. So, we went to the ER to have my boyfriend take it out of my eye, what a waste of time! Again, no ones fault though that he managed to get it out after we drove and visited there. I was prepared to pay my bill for the eye drops she gave me and my visit there. Wellll..., get ready to sell your left kidney if you want to get any type of medical care here. I received a bill in the mail for a total of $3,837.09 for the 30 minutes I spent waiting after being admitted and for my boyfriend to take it out of my eye. I essentially paid $3,837.09 for eye drops. They charged me at a Level III ER charge, after doing some research is what is known as a "moderate severity & moderately complex case". Also did research on averages for level III charges and not ONE I LOOKED AT WAS ABOVE $2,500. They charged me $3,097.33 to have my BOYFRIEND end up taking it out of my eye. And on top of it charged me another $457.54 for a specific "Removal eye slit" procedure. One she didn't even do. So I disputed multiple times just for the $457.54 charge because they did NOT perform the procedure and received the same BS every time. I even had proof with a picture of the foreign object on my boyfriend's finger in the ER room which I sent over multiple times. Eventually a cute handwritten letter came addressed to me stating that because I stepped foot into an ER they had the right to charge me for a procedure that the licensed professional did NOT DO. I will attach some of the wordage in the letter below. Overall, lesson is do not go to the hospital here, you will not receive the care that the prices reflect. All I am saying is, if you are going to charge me an absurd amount at least do the job your charging me for. What a waste of time and money. Good riddance.
Billing
Centura Health has on the last couple occasions billed me via the health portal as well as by mail before submitting any claims to my health insurance. I almost made a full payment but received a notification from my insurance that it was covered in full. In the portal and on my bill it just said Insurance Covered $0. But then in fine print on the portal it said not submitted to insurance. Why wouldn't they submit it to my insurance before billing me. This is fraud. I can't even imagine how many people have paid a full amount that they do not owe.
I contacted customer service and all of a sudden my bill is $0.. Isn't that convenient.
Desired outcome: After confronting customer service they updated my amount due to $0.

Early morning call demanding pre-payment
I just received a call from the billing department at 8am demanding that I pay my up front costs prior to a procedure tomorrow. I was told that it is now Centura's new policy and that I needed to pay. I did not know who this person was or give them permission to call me. I have never had to pay up front for a procedure that has not happened yet. My insurance deals with it and I pay whatever is left. I have never been late on a bill. I also do not have co-pay with my plan and the lady on the phone was demanding and insensitive. This is not how you treat patients and I am considering cancelling the procedure and using a different provider. I am a person, not a number. Rotten and rude. No thank you!
Desired outcome: update your policies and better training for your staff
I had the same experience- received 2 calls and an email saying I must pay for the estimated cost (after insurance) for a procedure. I have never been asked to pay up front for the cost of a procedure. When I asked Mercy hospital in Durango (where the procedure is scheduled) they just gave me Centura’s phone number.

H. Pylori Test requested by Dr. Peter Heng
I seen Dr. Peter Heng in February with concerns over many stomach related issues. H. Pylori is a cause of stomach issues so I brought it up to Heng and asked if we could do a test for it just in case my stomach issues were being caused by H. Pylori. He agreed and tested me for H. Pylori. I later received a bill for 117.00 for this test. My insurance denied the claim. This was odd to me because I have good insurance. I contacted my insurance to see why they denied they claim and they stated the code that Heng used was incorrect. The insurance told me to contact him and ask him to modify the claim with the correct code. I contacted Heng and he denied to assist. I contacted Labcorp to see what I could do in order for the test to be covered under my insurance. Labcorp stated that the code that Heng used stated that it was not a necessity. Labcorp stated all Heng needed to do was call them and state that it was a necessity and they would re-submit the claim to my insurance. Once again, I emailed Heng and asked if he could call Labcorp and inform them that the test was necessary. I provided Heng the phone number for Labcorp and the invoice number so there was very little work he needed to do. However, once again he stated that he would not call them as he did not feel that the test was necessary. I am now stuck with the 117.00 bill for a test that my insurance covers. Heng will leave you stuck with a bill that will not be covered under you insurance if he "believes" that the tests you request are not necessary.
Desired outcome: Dr. Heng to submit the correct code to Labcorp so the test is covered under my insurance
Policy
Centura, in it's wisdom has decided that patients can no longer call the front desk at the 84th local, or the hospital, Now an answering service takes the call after a 20 minute waiting time on hold. The answering service will not ask the front desk to get the test orders and hold them for me to pick up. They will make no effort to help, and when I asked to talk with a supervisor I was hung up on rather rudely. I tried calling Centura Health's corporate office and they told me a patient advocates office will call me back in a few days. They said they have no avenues for filing any complaints. Do you work out of any other hospital than Centura? They are really treating their patients poorly. Apparently some high priced Harvard grad decided it will save the receptionists so much time if they have to put everything down and go rundown a MA to get it printed when he was busy doing something else, and make the patient wait 40 minutes as opposed to just getting it ready in advance! Yes because patient advocates are not busy enough and get paid much less than receptionists! All they are accomplishing is adding an extra employee to call the front desk. Brilliant, just brilliant!
Physician returns messages and returning calls.
Having issues with Dr. Aaron Lloyd my physician. He will not return messages in a timely manner. Their have been times as long as 10 days before he would return a reply to messages. Seems his priority is in a different place instead of his patients. This is completely unsatisfactory in dealing with his patients. If this is not addressed, I will have no other option but to change a different Dr. and healthcare system.

I was in for a quad muscle tear yesterday, 9/24/2020 with Dr. Doner, I will first say that I was treated well by the entire staff.
I had an e-rays and MRI to determine the extent of the damage to my muscle. I called today 9/25/202 to get the results of the MRI and was told that I wouldn't get the results until next Friday when I have my next appointment. I am in a great deal of pain from an injury that happen over a week ago. And now I am being told that I must wait for another week just to find out the extent of the injury and if I must have surgery to repair it. It is already mentally and physically draining. My bill of rights says that I have the right to be informed. A simple phone call telling me that I will or will not have to have surgery will either put my mind at ease or prepare me for having surgery. I fail to understand why I can't get the results in a 2-minute phone call. It's a waiting game and very frustrating.
The simplest of information will help.

Office visit to STM Canon City Urgent Care
My name is David Neal Rainey, billing Guarantor Number 5782908
While visiting the Canon City area I developed problems related to my sinuses and before leaving I visited the above facility on 3/29/19 for what was categorized as an office outpatient new 30 minutes CPT(R) Code 99203. I paid my $30 co-pay and had not had any other communication regarding the visit from either my health insurer at the time (BCBS MS) and then last month, 15 months after my visit with the to STM Canon city Urgent Care I received a bill for $444.00 - my $30 co-pay leaving me with a bill for $414.00 for an office visit that consisted of merely being given a prescription to some antibiotics.
I am writing to protest that $444.00 is far beyond what would be considered reasonable and customary for such services. I ask that you review this matter at you earliest convenience as it would appear that a mistake has been made and I am requesting a reduction in billing amount for the service provided.
