I applied for a loan modification and was approved. Several months now I have received notices of foreclosure. Now chase is claiming that the modification was not approved . I have been making the required monthly payments on the new lowered payment. I was told that as long as I made the 3 months payments that my lowered rate would be permanent.
They never applied those payments to my loan.
I need to get in touch with an attorney to take on this case

Pamela,
I can't tell you how frustrated and lost I feel with this whole thing. They also said we were approved, went through the trial payments, only to tell us we were no longer approved after several months. Now we are considered delinquent even though it was their scheduled trial payments. They sent us an email with a supposed option which is ten years on interest only and start thirty years over again, losing eight years of payments. They wanted the form signed, notarized, and faxed the same day they emailed it to us. I feel that they are making us sign under duress. I can't help but feel so lost and sad.

Yikes...I'm still awaiting a decision, now I'm freaking out even if I DO get approved!

I applied on March 20, 2009 and I STILL have not received an answer. I ended up having to submit all of my information 3 TIMES! The last time was August 2009. Finally spoke to one person who seemed to have a clue and told me the information was never passed on to the right department, but he personally would make sure this time it did. It finally did, it's been in underwriting ever since awaiting a decision. They said they did an appraisal on my house in Nov. 2009 and that it's normally a couple days after that they make a decision. Well, it's going on 2 months now, and every time I call they just tell me it's still in underwriting awaiting a decision, they don't know what's taking it so long.

I sympathize with all of you. I was three months behind on my mortgage with WAMU/Chase. I applied for a loan modification. Sent in the paperwork to Wamu then had to do it all over again for Chase. Each time it was sent they said they need something else . I was determined to save my house so I did whatever they asked.

I also had problems with getting in touch with people for answers or just questions Finally they said they had everything and I would be hearing from them. They put me on a trial loan modification and said during the loan modification trial I was approved to pay half of my mortgage for the next three months waiting final approval. It ended up being 4 months. I paid each payment they requested. Then at the end of November they said I was not approved and need to make a full payment by December 1st. They also informed me that I was now six months behind and they would begin forclosure proceedings.

If they had told me that by paying 1/2 payments as they requested I would still be considered late I would have continued to make my regular payments in full.

There is definitely a communication problem with them and we are all suffering because of it.

I contacted NY State Banking and they had Chase contact me and explain. They explained that they were right and I was wrong. I feel so frustrated that they are doing to to so many of us and walk away free of any obligation of wrong doing because they are a major instituation.

Where do we all go from here.

We have the same thing happening to us. It all started when we had WAMU pay our late property taxes. They took it upon themselves to also pay our city taxes, which we were about to clear up without their help. The total was around 3K all together, but they put 8K into an escrow account. This was about six months ago & the account is down by half. Because of the escrow account, they raised our payment to some astronomical amount, so we went for the loan remodification. We gave them what they wanted for the 3 months & had heard nothing. Sent in 2 more payments...still nothing. We stopped making payments in November & they say we are now 6 months behind. This is impossible, considering we were giving them the amount that THEY requested during their 3 month trial. We have requested an Itemized billed from them & are about to contact an attorney as well.

what all of you are going through is because of a lack of understanding of the process. You are being told that if you go to a company to help with your modification that they will rip you off . Do you go to court and defend yourself ? not a wise move. You pay a lawyer. If you don't have 2 days a week to set aside to call your lender and fax documents then have a mortgage broker represent you. A good broker will be of great help as they know what the bank is looking for and the documents that are required. As far as trial payments... The payments that you make on a forebearance plan or trial payment are set aside until you complete the process of review. Once the review is over, then the payments are applied to your account. The review is not a guarantee of modification, it is just agreement by you to make an estimated payment to show good faith towards a workout. If you do not follow up with the bank on a weekly basis they will reject your request for the simplest of excuses. You have to pursue them to get a workout, if they say they will call you back don't wait, call them. Just remember in a lot of states an attorney can NOT represent you in the modification process, you must have a mortgage brokers license. And of course remember that all of this is the result of a government plan, which means tons of paperwork and lots of hurdles. The good side is if modification drops your payment by $100 a month on a 30 year loan you can save $140, 000, not a bad savings for some paperwork, and most modifications offer more savings than $100 a month.

I have been attempting a modification since April 2009 - have sent 3 separate packages, yet to receive an answer other than the last package is out of date, please resend.

I do believe this is the mode of operation, put it in a loop, never to be heard from again till you give up and default.

Also in the same boat here. Been trying since Feb 09. Every time I call for status, they have a different story than the last person I spoke with and say that income information is out of date and resend. Each time I call I somehow am put back at the bottom of the 90 day waiting period they say is for a modification. Foreclosure proceedings have started on my house now. I dont know what to do now!

I'm in the same boat! I had a health crisis in late 2008 in which I was informed that they had found a softball size tumor in my head..I immediately closed my mortgage company as I didn't know whether I was going to live or die. After 4 surgeries it is still there but, I qualified immediately for SSD. I'm a widow and still have my youngest out of 5 boys in the home, as I've lived here for 20+ years. I have short term cognitive recall issues...which is especially flustrating BUT I keep all documentation! I am interested in filing a class action law suit with Chase Home Finance AS they are violating the federal RESPA ACT. IE-I requested all last years communications & the "drive by appraisal"...they still haven't got it to me. I've been working on a loan modification (and it was granted in 4/2009), then in December 09 (after making ALL the payments on time-and even Dec 09 early) the denied me due to "insuffient income". I have no idea WHERE they got this from as I have sent/faxed in "over and over" my income documents. Much less--everytime I talk to someone @Chase "I get a different story" of the status of my file! Currently, my Hud counselor expedited my file to FNMA...so I am waiting on their response... Oh ya, I looked up on Chase's web site what my house value was...there was a satellite picture of my house! With a value of $272000! I do NOT know where they got that value from. As I know my house is underwater mortgage wise.

The same thing happened to me. I started the process in April 2009 when my hours were cut. They kept losing my paperwork and I had to refile it 3x's. They finally gave me a 3 month trial and told me I was no longer qualified and said I owed the diffence in the pay, they put late fees on my account, so on and so on. Now they say I am behind in my mortgage but after the 3 months I started paying our normal mortgage payment again. They are calling at threating to take my home. Me and my husband did hire a lawyer to try to get the remodification done but they said under Chase or making homes affordable plan that they cannot help we make too much money which is funny to me. Our house is not worth, underwater mortgage, what we owe on it since the real estate crash and we cannot get rid of it even if we wanted to. All we wanted was to take our 20 year, 8% interest mortgage to a 30 year at today's interest rates and they refuse to work with us. Since me and my husband are both tax payers it must be nice being the bank that our tax dollars went to to bail out but when we need help they say too bad.

If it helps anyone dealing with these fools, Chase Home Loan Modification is different from Chase Homeowner's Protection Office. I was referred to the latter by MHA.gov after I went through CCCS, as MHA suggested. Turns out you can'r modify your loan if you are only receiving unemployment. They lose docs all the time and one will call you saying please call; anyone can help. When you call back no one has any idea why the last one called. I have faxed over 1000 pieces to these idiots! Oh their modification dept told me I was not approved because I was not 2 months behind. Am I stupid? They would foreclose in a heartbeat! The CCCS lady said modification can be accomplished without ever being behind. Here is the HPO email address, if anyone needs it; you can attach docs to it hpo.chase@chase.com And I'd be willing to bet the Home Mod would be hmo.chase@chase.com Good luck with these stupid fools! I myself have given up. Chase will screw you any way till infinity!

S/N Service co., Eureka California
CROOKED AS THEY GET! Loan Modification SCAM !

Supplied all needed financials to them for my husband and I...I don't work but now he has an excellent job with excellent income...and has for over a year

I hadn't heard a word from SN Sericing...I called them Friday July 2..they told me that my husband is NOT on the loan and therefore Iwe don't qualify for a modification---although each and every item we've sent to SN Servicing CLEARLY details that I don't have a job, he has an excellent job, and we're BOTH on the loan---
They told me our home is being sold on August 9 2010--(After MONTHS of getting everything together and sending every item they needed) Never once did the bimbo at Sn Sericing (Katie) mention one word about me being the only Loan applicant---Ifthis isn't a scam I don't know what is! I'll wager that this "scam" is the next big breakdown of the whole foreclosure/financial mess our country has wound up in---this is a nightmare!

My Mother inlaw, age 84, walked into citimortgage two years ago and told the loan agent, Shalu, that she could use about 20K or some for home improvements.

So what did Shalu the loan agent do? She created a HORRIBLE disaster for my Mother in law!

My Mother In Law only owed 200K on her 30 year fixed mortgage...with pymts of $500.00 a month...

Shalu wrote a 300K mortgage--100K cashout loan---for my Mother inlaw...the payments were $1800 a month (Much more than my Mother In Laws income of $1200 a month!) My Mother In Law had NO IDEA that Shalu wrote this loan out, she panicked and tried in vein to pay it all back but the payments were still too high for her -- Shalu said she would "Fix it" for her --

Shalu "fixed it" by writing ANOTHER loan for my Mother Inlaw, 1 that was still too much to pay each month, a high interest disasterous loan of $230k --she did so within 7 months of the 1st loan funding.

Than Shalu directed my Mother In Law to go see her son Vinod at BofA, who was also a loan agent...He in turn wrrote up a $260: loan for my Mother In Law, AN OPTION ARM LOAN NO LESS! another "quick fix" !

Did I mention that my Mother In Law suffers from dementia/alzheimers? Its very evident she has this disorder and it was in plain site when she got loans 1, 2 and 3. They played upon my Mother In Laws trust...She thought they were there to help her...not put her into foreclosure!

(Vinod said he got the info he needed for the loan application from his Mother Shalu---Shalu quick fixed the loan application greatly, said my Mother In Law works for a dept. store making $11K per month! ) My Mother In Law had no clue that they were snakes. Good Lord she's 84 years old!

I am writing in HORROR reading these complaints, as I am going thru the same thing, and there is a sale date on my house in TWO WEEKS! My process started LAST YEAR, when my hubby was laid off for quite awhile. I Immediately called Chase (who took over my Wamu loan) and explained the situation. They stated I could apply for loan mod and that they'd send the paperwork. In the meantime, I received a call from (surprisingly) an extremely nice woman who asked if I would like to try for the new Fannie Mae program whereby we would pay half our mortgage pymts for SIX months. She took ALL my info over the phone (call lasted over an hour) and told me that YES, I was eligible for this program. We paid every month for 6 months and in the meantime, my hubby went back to work. When 6 months expired, I began making my full mortgage pymts again (totalling FOUR full payments between Jan and Feb) I then received a letter saying my balance was $5000(est), so I called to make a payoff. The rude woman I spoke to said "You cant - youre now in foreclosure" WHATT? I said Ill pay it RIGHT NOW. She said it was now $10000+ and that she couldnt receive any pymts anyway, as I was in modification process. So, filled out forms - never received. They sent out NEW forms (new program) I felled out EVERYTHING and faxed it obver (40 pages). Each time I called I spoke to someone different giving me diff info. Finally, I was told I was missing information and that I also had to fiill out even NEWER forms! I did - this bundle had 36 pages - and kept in constant contact with them regarding status. ALL employees DID manage to agree on ONE thing - That as SOON as the correct info got to underwriting, the foreclosure would be postponed.
This week, I called my case worker Lauren, who stated she just needed her mgr to sign off to go to underwriter because - FINALLY - they had all the info they needed. She told me she would call me by days end to confirm. She never did. I called the following day, got someone else - who told me that YES - its in underwriting. Lauren called me back yesterday to tell me the same HOWEVER - When I asked "Well now the postponement will take place as its with the underwriter, right?" She told me "Weellll, , not necessarily - it has to be approved and this and something else" I dont even know exactly what she said as I was in shock! MY sale date is in less than TWO WEEKS! She said, "I knoooww - its reallly soon - I am working on it" Youre working on it?
So basically, I was approved for a modification - made 6 months of good-faith paymnets - began making REGULAR payments every week to get caught up, and when I wqas about to pay off and make loan current? They said NO - youre in foreclosure for lack of info. Then they request info THREE more times, which I did, and now it may not matter! I am currently undergoing chemotherapy, am extremely ill, and this situation is exasperating my disease. What do I do? Call fannie Mae? The atty general (I live in MA) - I mean I have NINE business days to get this squared away! Please help if you know anything I can do to save my home thats been in my family for over 50 years - where my children, husband I have no whre else to go!

Michael Bennet
United State Senator of Colorado

2300 15th St., Suite 450
Denver, Colorado 80202

Dear Senator,

We hope you will be able to read this letter. We represent thousands of Colorado residents that have hope in The Affordable Homes Program. In theory, when President Obama explained the program, it sounded really hopeful in this economy. But we are not sure if these were just words or someone who is supposed to be implementing this program is not fulfilling their duties.

Our case is one of many we hear about in which the program did not work. In July of 2009, we sent all of the required paperwork to the Program Making Home Affordable Chase Bank in order to take advantage of the program. Nothing was said to us as far as the timeline of when we would hear back with some sort of results. Since then, we have been on the phone with Chase Bank representatives (they call them specialists) with zero results. We get a different story each time.

Last November (2009), finally someone told us that they have not received any of our documentation and there was no record in the bank….Right then and there she has arranged for a quick interview and said we qualified for the program. She has said that we were ready to enter a trial period of three months (we make 8 payments on time of trial Nov thru June #1) but we had to resubmit all of the paperwork that has already been previously submitted by us.

On December of 2009, We received a letter said the our trail payment has not been received. We did paid by phone on December 10th, we kept receiving this type of letter and if you see we did paid on time all the trial period.(copies attached #2).

We have kept calling every week or two to check on the status of the process with no resolution. In the meantime, they kept asking us for copies of our 2009 tax returns even thought they had a signed authorization to check with IRS. We have faxed those taxes at least 10 times to the Bank and each time we called to check with the bank and got confirmations of receipt from the people on the phone(copies attached #3).

The time has passed by, we kept calling every week. In May 26th of 2010 we received a letter that we didn’t get in the program Home Affordable Modification because we didn’t provide them with the documents that there request in the time frame. (!)(?). (copies attached #4).

Mr. Senator, you have no idea what the level of my family’s frustration is. We called again and spoke with another “ specialist” - Mike, who said that he doesn’t understand why the denial letter was received by us because he saw in his “system” we are in the program. That was very exciting. Mike made my day. Several days later, at the end of June, we finally got the contract.

They were going to reduce our payment from $1064 to $818.82 The contract explained that for seven years, the payments were going to be fixed at $818.82 and subsequently would go up but not to the original level of payment.(No copies of the contract, we send the all package sign and we never received our copies back)

We were telling our friends that the program works, and that it was worth keeping up communication with the Bank no matter how frustrating the process was. Each time I called, it took me up to an hour to get through to someone.

On July 15th, The bank cashed the check of $ 818.82 that we send with the contract, the call a quick payment(copies attached #5) and they advised us that our “first payment” was to be August 5th. We signed the direct deposit for the new contract ($ 818.82) It was established in the contract.

We kept calling the entire time to check on the contract status as we never received a copy of the new contract from the bank. Each time we called, we were told, we were approved: “please do not worry about this, you are in the program” now your first payment is going to be September 5th.
The problem arose when our funds were not taken out of our account for the mortgage payment ($ 818.82).

October 1st, no money was taken out either, we called and checked - once again were told: “no worries”.

On September 7th there was an envelope received by us - turned out, Mr. Senator, there was a same contract with different numbers (copies attached #6). Now our payments were going to go up from $1068.66 (original payment) to $1071. We called once again; they told us that there was a mistake in their “system”. We call Chase and asked whether we had a choice, they said no. What a joke!( Our economic situation was and still the same) We didn’t sign the second contract.

Chase kept sending us bills for $1067.99 (the trial amount), each time we paid on time November, December (copies attached #7).
On December 9th of 2010, the day of our 32nd wedding anniversary, we got 8 certified letters and others 8 letters in the regular mail (copies attached #8), said that we were in default because we failed to pay the required monthly payment since 03/01/2010. And if we don’t, pay within 32 days of this notice, Chase will accelerate the maturity of the loan. We are attaching copies of all the payments in 2010(copies attached #9) only 3 payments are Missing: August, September and October, this are the payments that Chase was supposed to take from our account, but the took July’s payment (direct deposit $818.82) as per their initial instructions.

Mr. Senator, this is our last hope to have justice. We are not the only people in this boat. But we feel that it is our duty to inform you what American Families are going through on a daily basis.
As you know the banks are hiring people with no experience and they give no training at all. And we the people are paying all the consequences.

We are so tired of all this“game”the Chase as be playing with us for almost 2 years. Please Help Us! All this process has been a torture, the stress is killing us, we don’t know if tomorrow we going to have our house. 'We Don't Want To Give Up! All this time we did everything Chase told us to do, we send all the papers every time the ask for it, we didn't miss any payments in this long period of the trial. We Don't Know What Else To Do?

Since this is a really long story, we can send you a power of attorney for our Chase account so you can see the entire detail.
We know that they have all the “records”, as each time we called, we asked to confirmed the notes from the previous conversation and you will also find all of the document and the two contracts that they sent us.

The American dream Mr. Senator became an American nightmare.

Sincerely,
Fortunato Del Moral Margaret Del Moral

This is exactly what has been happening to us. Chase has so many people working different portions of their loan modification program that they have no idea what each department has done. This has to be the most poorly run, unprofessional, screwed up company in the United States. We have submitted documentation (complete) 3 different times. The first person tells you they have everything. The next person tells you that information is missing. The next person tells it's been sent to underwriting. Then they tell you it was misplaced. If you try to make payments they are put in an escrow account and Chase uses the money to pay taxes without your authority. Forget lawsuits. By the time any of them are decided your home will be gone. Does anyone on this forum know a newspaper reporter? This would be a great series of articles reporting how a major company is destroying the American dream and basically ruining peoples lives because the government is allowing it. There is no accountability in this industry. We need a way to get this out to the public so no one will use Chase as a mortgage company EVER!

Please take a moment to read this letter. It will open your eyes to the everyday reality of thousands of our fellow citizens. I am referring to the Obama's Home Affordability Program and the way it is not working. We call this letter is Chapter III in my story.

It all began at the end with me losing my job and seeking help from the bank though Home Affordable Program. We filled out the appropriate paperwork, submitted proper documentation, faxed it to various numbers, hundreds of phone calls later, hundreds of lost communications later I was finally told we qualified. No contract ever arrived. No payments were ever withdrawn; in the meantime, once again, I kept on making phone calls, sending faxes, letters etc… I have gotten so many conflicting stories from different bank employees, my head is spinning. I am attaching some history for your review with this letter, because retelling the story once again in this one would take up several pages…

Chapter I: We have written a letter to President Barack Obama on Oct 10 2010 with the details of our sad story and how his Home Affordable Program paid with the money of taxpayers’ did not work for the American families (please see the attached letter). We were hoping that someone would at least reply to us with a courtesy acknowledgement but have not heard anything to the date.

Chapter II: After 2 month of no notice from the White House, not even a courtesy letter, we send a certified folder to the Senator of Colorado Michael Bennett dated Dec. 10 2010 (please see attached). I have explained the situation, attached copies of all of the payments, dates, our conversations with the bank etc. And once again, we have not gotten any sort of a reply from anyone in his administration or any other appropriate agency.

We, the citizens of this country, have been faithfully paying our taxes and contributing to this country’s wealth and greatness. I also feel that we, the hardworking citizens of this country, have helped the banks recover from the financial meltdown.

After we realized no reply would be forthcoming, we have decided to post our story Chapters on the internet for all to see. And I got flooded with the emails and the phone calls from people who are in the same desperate situation with the same bank – Chase. These people also have not gotten any resolution to their problems, have not been heard and were about to lose their homes.

On January 28, 2011 The United States government's (Homeland Security)
National threat level is elevated or yellow and for all domestic and international flights, the U.S. threat level is High, or Orange. And is working on protecting our citizens from the external attack; however, no one is paying attention to the attack from banks like Chase that are terrorizing the lives of thousands of our hardworking American families internally. We think the national threat level shut be High or Orange for this matter.

Going back to us: we have been paying our mortgage payments monthly. Last night (Jan 29 2010), we have received our check from the Chase bank not cashed with the letter advising us that we are formally in foreclosure. We are willing to fight for our home but it is truly unfair that we the little people with very few resources have to go up against the wealthy and corrupt banks and no one is willing to help us in our plight.

Thousands of honest families are suffering in the hands of disorganized, corrupt, and ignorant
If our story was unique and represented a single occurrence that would be ok, but bankers.

I hope that once you read this letter, someone would be willing to at least notify us of its receipt with the courtesy note.

Sincerely,

Fortunato Del Moral Margaret Del Moral

I am now a single mother of two who, through divorce, needed to do a loan mod with Chase. I too have been going through the exact same things as described here, only to be told by Chase today that my loan mod was approved, but the new payment is EXACLY the SAME as the original monthly payment! How can that make any kind of since at all!? I don't know what to do. Anyone have any suggestions?

As I read all of your comments, I can say that my husband and I rode the Chase wave for nearly four years. We completed numerous modifications, only to be told that they were denied. Our home was sold without our knowledge, as we were in the middle of a modification for about the tenth time. We obtained a Mortgage Fraud Attorney out of Minneapolis. We should have done this from day one, but we had faith that we were dealing with a company that was simply overwhelmed by the massive Washington Mutual Mess. Needless to say, we scraped together $5000.00 to pay our attorney. In the meantime, I sent an email to President of Chase Bank and the President of Chase Mortgage division. Look on Loan Safe.org...you will find the information there. I did receive a response and Chase completed their own investigation. Of course they claim they were correct in their modification game, until I told them our attorney would be contacting them..hehehe... Amazingly enough, our eviction process was halted indefinitely and we are in the process of suing Chase Mortgage for the return of our home (they sold it to themselves), the cost of our loss of equity and the sheer HELL they put us through. I saved every note, every letter I ever wrote to them, even the ones that asked them if they were stupid or something for not returning our calls for a YEAR, as well as every letter they wrote denying modifcations. I saved the copies I faxed from each modification. Our attorney told us that with these documents, they have established a good case and Chase's lawyer is baffled. Take good notes...quote what they tell you. Get names, departments, phone numbers. GET AN ATTORNEY. Our attorney said he's done hundreds of modification repairs, but never one where a house was sold. We can see a light at the end of the tunnel. It's going to be nice when our payments will be paid to the court and the court will pay Chase, so they can no longer screw with us. It's about time you stand up and take back what is yours. Our attorney says everything is looking good! You can win this fight with the stupidest bunch of idiots I've ever dealt with. We are!

Chapter IV
After a few days, that we posted our Chase story online (January 31ft 2011) we got a call from the office of Senator Bennett asking for our Chase account and that was it. One day later we got an email from Marianne McKiernan ( ABC 7 News)-that was on February the 8th, telling us that she read our story and that she was going to forward it to her contact at Chase Bank, and if we don’t hear from Chase within the next 5 business days, then to please let her know. Two days later on February 10th we got a call from Brenda Jones (HD 24 Executive Analyst at Chase Bank) she told me not to worry, and that they were going to take care of our account and hold the foreclosure. She also forwarded us an email that she sent to one of the Chase specialists with high priority executive complaint. After that we sent an email in response to Marianne (ABC 7news), telling her that Chase will work with on our case, and to thank for giving us hope again.

Days later we got a call from Elizabeth ……. (Bank Specialist from Chase), she told us not to worry because they were working on a new contract, and that we would be very happy, the new contract was going to be way better that the one that we received in June of 2010 ($ 818.00) and in the worse case scenario - it was going to be the same. We were extremely excited with the wonderful news, but in the meantime…time was passing by and we kept calling 4 to 5 times a week leaving messages to check the status of our loan modification. Once in a while we get a call back from Elizabeth Treppo (she is a busy woman) she always says that everything is going just fine.

On March 2nd, I spoke with Ms. Elizabeth, she read the terms of the new contract to me, and the payment was going to be $989.00. Of course, I was very disappointed and I asked her what happened with the contract of $818.00 that she had mentioned earlier. She said: "Mr. Del Moral don’t worry I’m working that out.” Two days later March 4th we got the envelope from FedEx, with the contract for $989.00! This was Friday, I called Ms. Treppo right away and left her a message, we were so desperate that we also called on Sunday, then again on Monday and left her a message on Tuesday. She called us back and told us that she is working on it and not to worry, and if it was necessary she would tell her boss to get involved in this case. We still keep calling every week (at least 3 to 4 times).

On March 7th, Ms. Elizabeth called and told me that the new contract will be ready this week…….. Nothing happened and we keep waiting.

On March 13th, the Sheriff came to my house and knocked the door, when I opened he asked if I was Mr. Fortunato Del Moral, in my mind I thought that they were coming to give the foreclosure order. He asked for my wife, I told him that she was at work; he called to check on her. He came by because the HOA was worried about us, because the Christmas decorations were still on, and the neighbors haven’t seen us. This was horrible, my wife spoke to the sheriff and he told her not to worry. That day, I called Ms. Jones I told her about what happened with the sheriff, that it was nothing to do with her or Chase but that we are desperate. Ms. Jones, once again, told me not to worry and that she understood how we feel, and that there would be a happy ending to our story.

On March 21st, we got a letter from Chase saying that our approval was denied or canceled because we never sent the contract back (?!).

Well…..Dear friends that read this story and this point you have no idea the level of stress that we are living, to give you an idea: my wife and I are sleeping in different rooms and we try not to talk one to each other, to avoid having to talk about the status of our Chase modification loan.

On March 22nd I got a call from Ms. Treppo, she told me that the new contract it’s almost done, she read me the terms and the payments are going to be $700 and change, and the first payment will due on June the 1st 2011, she was a little confused, she told me if we don’t receive the new contract on March 28th, then to please let her know.

We have to mention that each and every time we speak with Mrs. Jones and Ms. Elizabeth they are always exceptionally nice and they both give us a lot of hope.

On March 24th we received a call from Hamp Center Service (Obama’s office to help with the loan modifications). The caller's name was Ms. Robin, she told us that their office sent a letter to Chase and that we had to wait a couple of weeks. She instructed us to contact her directly if we don’t hear from Chase.

Today is Friday the 25th after a long day of waiting FedEx did not show up.

On the 28th another day of waiting for FedEx, nothing happened we called Ms. Elizabeth three times and left her messages.

At this point my dear friends my stress level is causing me to overeat, I am gaining weight and I can’t stop eating, I don’t want to do anything in my house, I don’t want to talk to anybody, my stress turning into a full blown depression.

Today, Thursday March 29th and I am hoping FedEx shows up…but honestly, we do not know what to think, we are so tired of waiting, calling and fighting, we have no idea what is going to happen or what to do at this point.
Our hours are like days, our days seem like months.
We are going to call Ms. Elizabeth and we are going to leave a message again.

On March 29th we called Ms. Jones and she told us- that everything was approved. She read the terms and conditions and the payment will be $700 and change, and the first payment would be due on June the 1st, but she didn’t see that the documents were sent at that moment she said that she was going to send an email to Ms. Elizabeth and also to the people in charge of sending the documents, and they would contact us to tell us when we are going to receive them. Also Ms. Jones explained to us, that once we receive the contract we have to read it, initial each page and sign it, and to please send it back as soon as possible to Chase, because it would take a few weeks to get the finalized contract back.

April 1st (fools day), this morning we got a call from Ms. Robin from the Hamp Center Service, she told me that we were approved and that Chase told her that the contract was sent to a different address, that is why we didn’t receive it, I asked her what the payment was per this new contract, and she told me it was $989.00! I explained to Ms. Robin, that we received that contract, but we didn’t sign it, because Ms. Elizabeth told us that they were working on another contract, she was kind of disappointed with us, and she told me that we cant be picky and can't play with the mortgage loan modification. I explained to her that this was quite a long story and everything we have done is exactly what Chase told us to do, two hours later Mr. Robin called back again -very excited, she spoke with her contact at Chase and they told her about the newly approved monthly payment of $700 and change, due on 1st of June. I thanked for her involvement in our case and I promised to keep her informed about what is happening.

One hour later Ms. Elizabeth called me and told me that she was waiting for new documents and that for sure our new payments were going to be $700 and some, due June 1st, like always Ms. Treppo gave us a lot of hope. I have to wait and see if we get the new contract next week...

Today is April 17th, is my wife’s birthday, and it was horrible, normally on this day my gift to her is to plant flowers all around the house, she loves flowers, usually we invite friends ….today was different….we went out for breakfast, and I told her how depressed I felt, I didn’t know if we could keep the house, after that I slept all day long. I did that so that I wouldn't have to see how bad my wife was feeling. At 8 pm she bought a very small cake (about 3 inches high 3 inches wide) and she put a candle in it and told me to take a picture, so we can send it to our kids and pretend that everything was fine. Dear friends, I’m giving you some details of our every day life to show you how bad the atmosphere is in our house.

Going back to our Chase story ….on April 18th I spoke with Ms. Jones and said that she sent an email to Ms. Elizabeth and to the people in charge of finalizing the document to check on what the problem was?

On April 19th Ms. Robin from Hamp Center Service called us to follow up on our case, and I told her that we are still waiting for the documents and she told us that she (once again) was going to call her contact at Chase, and that she would call me back.

Today is the 20th ……I honestly don’t have any hope at all, I have to start calling Ms. Elizabeth one, two…three times and wait for her to call me back, I think I’m going to call Ms. Jones to see if she has any news, no news or bad news. I will see.

I’m so tired and I think my wife is too.

Today is April the 22nd and Ms. Elizabeth called to give me the update, she told me that everything is the same, the only thing is that the department that is in charge of writing the documents stopped the process (?), and she wasn't sure until when, she said to call her on Monday the 25th and to try not to worry because everything was going well.

Today is Sunday the 24th at this point, I don’t know what to think, I don’t know what to do, I have gained 30 pounds as of today.

Monday the 25th, I left a message to Ms. Elizabeth and a sent an email to Ms. Jones to check the status but so far no reply.

Tomorrow, I will wait and see...

My advice with this long experience, if somebody is trying to get a loan modification, the first thing they have to is to go Office Depot and buy a big stationary book and to write each and every detail of their own story down from the first day.

Well dear friends soon you will get Chapter no. 5, I have no idea if the story will have a happy ending…..stay tuned.
