CitiMortgage beware

In Nov 08 I decided to try and get my interest rate reduced by submitting a workable solutions package. I was told it would take approx 45 days for a response. I am still waiting. On Friday, Dec 19, 2008 I received an "Urgent" UPS overnight envelope from Cititmortgage asking me to immediately contact them about a new "loan modification" program available to customers. I contacted Citimortgage first thing the following Monday morning, Dec 23. I faxed over all the requested documentation and was told someone would contact me within 2 weeks. I am still waiting. So now I am in limbo with 2 separate programs Citimortgage is supposedly working on to modify my loan. To make matters more complicated, which I take full responsibility for, when I paid my January 1, 09 payment, I physically walked it in to Citibank however I missed my cut-off time to deposit funds into my personal bank account which I wrote my mortgage check on. So the one time the check clears the same day it did and I had insufficient funds. I called Citimortgage to alert them to the fact and they said not to worry, this was common and that they would deposit the check a 2nd time and I would not receive a thirty day late on my credit. So when 1/28 rolled around and the check still had not been re-deposited I got worried and phoned Citimortgage, I was again told not to worry the check had not been sent back by my bank yet and that once they receive it, it would be re-deposited. So today, 2/9/09 I receive a letter dated 2/2, postmarked 2/6 stating that my account is delinquent and to submit certified funds in the amount of $8K in order to bring my account current. Needless to say $8K is much higher than my payment amount. I phoned Cititmortgage and after being on the phone for about 2 hours and speaking with 6 separate people I was finally told they did try to re-deposit my check for a 2nd time and it bounced again. I was furious. My funds far exceeded the check amount daily. I also verified with my bank manager that Citimortgage never re-deposited the check a 2nd time. My bank manager is preparing a letter to Citimortgage stating these facts. If they were just honest from the beginning I would have paid the mortgage in cash, but I trusted the information that they would be re-depositing my check a 2nd time which they never did. Now I have a 30 day late on my credit report because I made the mistake and relied upon inaccurate information from Citimortgage. My gut tells me my check was sitting there all along for the past 4 weeks and they waited until I was passed the 30 day mark to slam me with extra fees and a mark on my credit. Not to mention I am still waiting on the reply for my loan modification 81 days later. On Bloomberg Financial TV, Financial Experts state CITI is considered one of the worst banks in the industry and should not be bailed out, but since CITI is so big the government is afraid to let it go under. I am not sure what can be done to protect ourselves from gigantic mess of a company.

I went through the modification process and was denied because, "they could not find an affordable solution". Any solution would be better than the current one. I believe their programs are a scam to make the Government believe that they are trying to help people.

I am having problems with Citi Mortgage too. In December 2009 I signed an application online for a mortgage relief assistance. I was suppossed to receive a copy of these loan documents in the mail and I was suppossed to receive coupon books from CENLAR, which the payments would start 07/2010 to CENLAR. I never received the coupon books. In the meantime I filed Chapter 13 Bankruptcy in 4/2011. I have missed one payment from 5/10 to the present yet according to Citi Mortgage in their request for Relief From Stay I haven't made payments since December 2010. Compleltey false! I have been in dispute with Citi Mortgage over two payments that I sent in last year using money orders as I no longer have a bank account. Theyare not crediting those two payments and cannot account for that money. Thank goodness for receipts! I will present my receipts to the judge whenever a hearing is actually scheduled but they are not honest and I am wondering if Citi Mortgage or CENLAR actually holds the mortgage loan at this time.

I do have a similar story...I applied for a loan mod in January 2008. I repeatedly asked if this move would destroy my credit, the woman I spoke w/ Diane, said NO. My credit would only look bad for the first few months but once (if) the Mod went through, it would be as if I never did anything to "hurt" my credit. I ask OVER and OVER "ARE YOU SURE!" because I did not want to ruin my credit. Diane assured me that that would not be the case. I had informed Citimortgage that my company was going through changes and although I COULD afford my mortgage (and probably could for the next few months) things were headed for a change and i would be losing at least 1, 300 a month due to these changes. She said she understood and I felt she was simpathetic to my problem. I wrote my letter, as I was advised, telling my story of hardship and sent it out right away. I received a call two months later letting me know that I qualified for a Home Loan Modificaion. Diane then asked, " So, what can you pay a month?" I informed her of my situation and told her that I was being proactive but I could still make my mortgage payment but probably wouldnt be able to in the next 3 months...She said, "So...if you give me an amount we can work with it..." I did not understand what she meant? Did she want me to "pick" my mortrgage price? I said, "Well we can afford 1, 500.00 a month? " She said, "OH! well would you say 1, 000.00 would be appropiate?" Hmmmm...well yah Diane, huh? What are you talking about if I said 1500 then of course 1000 will work. I got off the phone I told my husband, "WOW, I think I just got coached!?!" Well, that was just the beginning of a total nightmare that almost cost me a marriage, a baby, and my mind. For TWO YEARS, July of 2010 to be exact, is when I was notified that my loan mod was accepted...this was after a TWO years of lost papers, check stubs, current check stubs, and current current check stubs. FYI to Citimortgage...if you give check stubs and I call... and YOU keep telling me to call back in a week, and I do...then you say you need more current check stubs, I send them...then call back... and when I do you say that those stubs arent current...well DUH! I guss I just need to buld a time machine to go in the future you idiots! Maybe if you would check the stubs when I send them and stop telling me I need to give you the info that, Oh WOW you already had, but the last person that checked my file said I hadnt...ARRRRGH! Seriously people, The last 3 months was people @ Citi telling me that things were going to the "Review" dept. and to call back in 7 days...when I did that they would say that I needed this document, or that check stub...IT WAS UNDER REVIEW FOR 3 MONTHS! One day I came home from work exhausted and crying and told my husband, "Screw it! I dont care if we lose this house. We fight all the time and have spent more money at Postal Annex than this house is worth! Eventually the clouds parted and we did FINALLY get the text that the loan mod was going through. Well now we do pay 500.00 less but our credit report says that we are over 90 days late on a motgage payment...WE NEVER MISSED A PAYMENT! WE PAYED WHAT CITI BANK TOLD US TO! WE COULD'VE PAYED MORE AND THEIR COMPANY SAID NO...how is that fair?

You are absolutely correct. After an agreed upon deferred payment plan with the CitiMortgage department misleadingly called the Home Retention Unit in Rocky Hill, Ct. I was lead to believe my Mortgage would be modified in one of several different plans underway. This was based upon information I gave to CitMortgage when I entered into that agreement. I was told to pay $1080.00 per month instead of my usual $2290 at the end of the month for 6 months and then after August (the 6th month) my loan would be modified in one of several ways increasing the length of the loan, refinancing etc. I was told that they were unsure how this would go since they themselves were just becoming familiar with plans initiated by President Obama. I was concerned about the ever rising tab I was building but they told me I was in the same boat as thousands of others, and that because of the vast amounts of cases they were handling the paperwork was on a long delay. They kept mentioning a "package" that I would be receiving in the mail sometime after August. That time frame came and went and the payment plan was extended from September and on each month through December. I was told month after Month the package was to be mailed to me but was delayed or unexpectedly lost in the system etc. I was reassured each month that I was in the same situation as thousands of others. Then one day in December I was told that Home Retention Unit was no longer in charge of my file. It was now in the hands of Loss Mitigation Unit and the calm reassurance was over. In January I was told that the "package" I had been waiting for all this time was a down-loadable file called the "Customer Hardship Assistance Package" I was told to complete it ASAP which I did. I faxed the 10 page (with supporting Data) file back to Loss Mitigation and after a few days they called me back again to verify a few items on the list. I was put on hold and 5 minutes later I was told I was not a candidate for the Obama plan modification or any other plan for that matter. By now since the start of the agreement in April I was 10 months behind on my mortgage and would need to send them a check for $22, 724.60 immediately. If that wasn't possible the deficit could be repaid over one year along with my usual mortgage payment of $2209.00. The monthly payment on the deficit would be an additional $1894.00 per month for 12 months. This would come out to $4103.00 per month for 12 months. When I asked if this could be spread over a longer time frame I got the "I'll ask my supervisor" and "No, that is not possible" 1 minute later. When Citibank was in trouble they got a far more sensitive response from the US Government. I realize where I went wrong in handling my finances that I had taken on too much debt because I had always been able to consolidate it by refinancing with the ever increasing equity in my home. I was an idiot but one of millions of idiots who didn't think it would end. The people who refinanced just before the crash all are different than me only in the pure luck of getting in before the sky fell. I realize that another group of people are doing alright because they showed the restraint to live within their budget, bravo to them but the economy ran at full rpms on the sub-group I was in or we wouldn't have gotten into this trouble. I can't see the logic of the banks who provided the loans and the needed their own loans to recover now acting judgmentally towards the people who took them up on the loans the offered so freely. I'm not asking for a handout just a reasonable term or arrangement that would repay my loans and not leave the bank with another foreclosure that benefits no one.

I HAVE HAD A HORRIFIC TIME DEALING WITH THE CEO, AN APPOINTED PERSON DUE TO MY COMPLAINT, THE ESCROW AND LOSS MIT. DEPTS. NONE OF THEIR STORIES ARE TRUE OR
CONSISTENT! THIS IS SEVEN MONTHS OF CONFUSION AND DISAPPOINTMENT AND THEIR
DEMANDING MONEY CONSTANTLY, NOT APPLYING THE MONEY PROPERLY, NOT ALLOWING
ME TO SEE WHAT I AM BEING CHARGED FOR (I.E. $15/MO. FOR DRIVE BY'S), REFUSING TO
APPLY MY MONTHLY PAYMENTS TO MY MORTGAGE, HOLDING AS MUCH AS $7, 200 IN A
"HOLDING ACCT" USING MY MONEY FOR FREE...AND CLAIMING I HAVE NOT PAID MY PAYMENTS TO ALL THE CREDIT UNIONS, PROMISING TO DO THE LOAN MODIFICATION WHEN THEY HAD NO INTENTION OF PUTTING IT THROUGH, DOUBLE TALKING AND LYING TO YOU!

I HAVE HAD IT! I HAVE ANOTHER LOAN FROM THEM, PERFECTLY FINE! THIS LOAN ABOVE...

I REQUESTED THE TAXES IN AN ESCROW ACCT. THE PROBLEMS BEGAN THERE! ESCROW CHARGES ARE WAY ABOVE WHAT THE TAXES ARE. THEY CLAIM MY $2, 106 PYMT IS NOW $2, 700! NO
CLEAR EXPLANATION. I WOULD NOT TAKE ONE OF THEIR MODIFICATIONS NOW THAT I KNOW
WHAT THEY ARE PULLING ON THE PUBLIC, IF MY LIFE DEPENDED ON IT! THEY ARE CLEARLY
IN TROUBLE FINANCIALLY AND WANT US TO PAY FOR IT! I HAVE CANCELLED MY 20 YR OLD
CITIBANK CARD THAT HAS A LOW BALANCE, SINCE THEY ARE GOUGING US FOR 15-25%!

IT IS NOT NEW NEWS, THAT CITIBANK GROUP, WHO TOOK THE BAILOUT, CAN'T PAY IT BACK!

I INHERITED CITIMTG. WHO TOOK OVER ABN-AMRO, WHOM I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH. I OWN
FOUR HOMES AND NONE OF THEM...HAVE I EVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH. I HAD A GOOD CREDIT RATING UNTIL I ASKED FOR A MODIFICATION. THEY SEEM TO THINK THEY CAN CHARGE THE WORLD

OUR FINANCIAL RIGHTS AND NOT...THE "O" PROGRAM THAT ISN'T WORKING AND NEVER WAS

WE THE PEOPLE...NEED TO GET OUR RIGHTS BACK...FINANCIAL AND OTHERWISE AND STOP
BEING BULLIED BY THESE WEALTHY THIEVES WITH NO GOOD INTENTIONS BUT TO ROB US, RUIN OUR CREDIT AND TRY TO STEAL OUR HOMES!
THIS IS AN OUTRAGE AND OUR GOVERNMENT AND SENATORS SHOULD NOT ALLOW IT!

WHEN I ASK FOR DOCUMENTATION, I GET NONE. WHEN I SENT IN A LARGE PRINCIPAL PAYMENT
FOR THE OTHER HOME MTG I HAVE WITH THEM, THEY IMMEDIATELY SWITCHED THAT PAYMENT
TO THE MODIFICATION LOAN PROGRAM AND NOW THEY ARE DEMANDING ANOTHER $9, 000
ONE MONTH LATER! LIARS AND THIEVES! NO STRAIGHT ANSWERS. JUST BITS AND PIECES TO

WE ARE ALL IN THE SAME STEW KETTLE; HOWEVER, I AM TIRED OF ALL THE LONG PHONE CALLS,

Just went through a home modification due to the loss of my job . I submitted the hardship paperwork back in September of 2008. I had only missed two payments but needed help catching up. Citimortgage lost my paperwork the first time. I then had to resubmitt the second time. I called everyday and also would sit on the phone for hours trying to get the issue resolved. Finally in Jan 2009 my modification was approved but I had to continue to make my payments for three months on time, which was not a problem. The money that I paid was never applied to my mortgage, but put into a sub- account, thus causing my mortgage to appear even later then it really was. Finally after speaking to at least 100 representatives with diffent stories, my new loan paperwork was sent to me. I sent the paperwork back only to get an additional bill for all the late charges and drive bys to see if my home was still being occupied. I was told in October that this would take 45 days. No one ever called me, I called them. Mind you I was only two months behind, but my credit reflects 10 months of late payments, which is untrue. I have called the FDIC and filed a complaint. I recommend you do the same. This is unfair practice my opinion, that they purposely took 10 months to complete my paperwork thus charging me late fees. I have contacted Citi but they are not willing to remove the late charges which were a result of them being understaffed and changing governement regulations.

My complaint is against CITIMORTGAGE and is related to extreme escalated ESCROW charges applied to my “Un-Escrowed” account around May ’09, which doubled my mortgage payment of $1, 206.00… to $2, 400.00. I had paid all of my taxes by early June ’09 but was eventually locked into escalated mortgage payments due to errors committed by CITIMORTGAGE’S Banking, Escrow, Tax and Customer Service Department(s). In early August CM locked me into projected escrow balances and the elevated payment is now cemented at $1800.00, $1422.00 and now $1600.00 not sure because each Customer Service "phone fiasco: rep informs me of different amounts day-to-day, week-to-week.
I fear by the time my complaint is eventually reviewed by the Attorney General’s office…and the OCC I will be “locked into” foreclosure. I have been in communication w/ CM weekly and even daily and recently enlisted the folks at Hope for Homeowners (a federally funded Consumer resource group) to delete the escrow from my account. The following timeline details the chain of event since March ’09 to the present: (Exact dates can be provided for the following timeline if this issue goes to litigation).

In Mid March ’09: Regular mo. payment to CITIMORTGAGE was $1206.00/mo. In March ’09 I sent a certified check for $3500.00 (issued from my Credit Union) for delinquent taxes directly to the my County Tax Office (YCTO). In March I still owed $4300.00 and made arrangements to pay the balance in June ’09. This was approved by my local County Tax office as I had until mid July ’09 to pay the balance.
Mid April ’09 – CITIMORTGAGE (CM) issued a check to the local County Tax Office (YCTA) for $7, 800.00. Upon receipt of the CM check, YCTO immediately issued a rebate check of $3500.00 to CM for the $3500.00 I had already paid the previous month. I was not notified or CC’d of the rebate transaction to CM.
Early June ’09: Oblivious to the rebate…on June 10th I called (CTA) for the exact TAX balance as I was ready to send in the 2nd Certified Check. I was informed CM had paid $7800.00 (the balance of $4333.37 was now $0) and finally informed a rebate of $3500.00 had been issued to First Bank of America for delivery to CM’S Tax department to be credited to my escrowed account. Around this time I began receiving incessant calls from CMS’ automated Bill Collection dept. stating I owed $2400.00 for the month of June? I was surprised to hear this as I was current on my mortgage payments at this time. When I would call back the Bill Collection folks @ CM they said so not worry this would all be AOK when the $3500.00 was finally applied…. they would keep checking as it had not yet showed up.
Mid June ’09: CM Escrow and Customer Service folks said I would be able to apply for deletion of the escrow on my account if I resolved the remaining balance of $4333.37 and they would track down and apply the $3500.00 to my remaining balance I would be at $0 balance I could fill out an escrow deletion form and resume my original payment of $1206.00.
I immediately sent a personal check to CM for $4333.37 noted “apply to escrow”. Check was received and applied immediately but the escrow balance was still $3500.00 for the missing check… concerned I called local CTO Controller’s office and confirmed the check had definitely been sent in May.. When I called CM to check if received they promised to keep checking the system… and would $0 out my escrow balance when they found it. (I paid my normal payment of $1206.00 in June certain any day this would be resolved when the check was finally located.) I made several check up calls to CM for the remainder of June still not concerned at this time.
Early July ’09: Rebate check is still lost at the First bank of America and now my cell phone rings from 7:00AM to 11:00 at night (cell records will confirm) as now I owe another payment of $2400.00. I make another $1200.00 payment… hoping an adjustment will be made when the rebate is applied and the escrow is zero. The only good news is now my payment is “only $1800.00 due to the $4333.37 finally adjusted on my escrow. I am growing concerned because it appears I will not be credited the $3500.00… I paid in good faith back in mid March ’09 to my Local County Tax office.
Mid July ’09: I called CTO again and "conferenced in" the Tax Office w/ Customer Service at CM. During this call it was apparent (after almost 3 months) the check was still in limbo and I was pressing for the escrow deletion to get my payments back to normal. During the conference call we all decided that CTO would stop payment on the check and issue the rebate to me… then I could forward the check then submit another personal check for the $3500.00 to CM to $0 and delete the escrow. The check came from CTO the next week and was deposited into my account. I called CM and let them know the check had arrived and would be paying down the escrow as soon as the check hit my account.
End of July ’09: Called Customer Service and asked to be patched to the escrow department… was on the line w/ Craig and brought on Regina we were in a 3-way call… the record will show 99% of the time I pay CM w/ check by phone. Both escrow agents assured me the $3500.00 would be applied to the escrow. I authorized the payment and was assured the escrow would be deleted and I could expect my normal pay schedule to resume. Finally the rebate had come full circle.
Early August ’09 – Phone calls from CM's Automated Bill Collection harrassment come in from 7:00AM -11:00AM for monthly payment of $1800.00. When I called CM to check on the escrow deletion nothing had changed. During this call I found out CM (On August 1st) had paid ahead as well as projected my 2010 taxes allowing them to keep the inflated mortgage payment and now I was locked into projected escrow payments.
Mid August ’09 - After approximately 20 calls from early to mid –August most ending in disconnects after hours of being on terminal “HOLD” (cell phone records will verify) I discovered the $3500.00 was misappropriated to pay the "escalated" Mortgage payments. This was a blatant lie to me from the 2 CM escrow agents and countless other CM reps over the past 3.5 months. My CTO recommended I contact the Department of Banking (OCC). I have filed a claim and I’m on a waiting list… I also filed a complaint w/ my Attorney General's office. Recent calls to CM have been w/ the HOPE for Homeowners counselors conferenced in to witness my attempts to resolve and avoid litigation. The “Hope for Homeowners” counselors, referred by the OCC WEBSITE, have been on the phone with me and CM up to 3 hours at time while we spoke to “Escrow Supervisors” who are the first second and third line of defense for getting through to anyone who had a clear picture of my account information. Taking names and ID #’s are useless… an hour w/ Leslie ID# 22594 (she was filing an escalated request to a senior supervisor) we were disconnected. We got her back on by luck were put on hold and disconnected again… then we spoke to Nancy we asked for her ID and were immediately disconnected… We called back, and Shabir a gentleman who proceeded to tell us IDs# are not useful it is not possible or names as there is no way to get the original Supervisor back on the phone. It is a maze of unaccountability… Shabir said my monthly mortgage payment is now $1442.00 but would go to $1006.00 if I paid my projected balance of close to $5000.00 dollars is paid. I am certain CM is doing this to others as YCTO advised me to contact your office. Please help me bring them to accountability for deceptive practices.

My story is similar in trying to get refinanced through workable solutions. Citi has several departments working on my loan, and none of them seem to know nor care what the other department is doing - they constantly are contradicting each other. I can't get the same person on the phone twice. My mail and phone messages are ignored. I don't have a payment book nor am I getting any invoices, so I don't know what to pay when. Yet they keep sending me threatening letters saying I'm not paying. And the worst is that they've had at least one, maybe two, private investigators trespassing on my property and on the neighbor's property, and this evening when my kids were getting ready for bed and I was doing laundry on another floor of our home, someone from Citi walked right into my house without being invited and without my knowledge and asked my 11 year old daughter to give me a note. The note was crudely written in both English and Spanish, with a phone number, but no identifying information as to whom it was from. When I called the number, CitiMortgage loss mitigation dept. answered! My children are scared to death. You are right - these are horrible people with too much power. What can "we the people" do about this?

I have heard back from them too. I am currently making my mortgage payments and have never missed one or been late. Yet. The loss mitigation rep told me based on my Hardship assistance application that I DO qualify for assistance. But...
There is a "trial Period" where they will reduce my monthly payment for 3 months. Then at the end of 3 months they review my file and decide whether or not to mod my loan. He would not give any indication of what the modification could/would be. So after the trial period if they do decide to mod the loan the amount of money i did not pay as part of the trial period gets worked into the new modified loan. However if they DONT modify my loan then i owe them all the missed payments for those 3 months. To make things worse there is another catch too, my credit takes a hit for Missed/Late payments over 90 days.

Why is it that i am supposed to become delinquent on my payments? This makes absolutely no sense to me at all since according to the Loss mitigation person I DO QUALIFY Already. If i Qualify then I qualify. Whats up with needing to wreck my good credit. What if at some point i want to go out and purchase a new home in the future... Now i cant get a loan or a good rate because my credit report shows 90 days delinquent payments on my mortgage.

Not only that but their mod program that they wouldnt comment on goes something like the following according to one person's comments who has gone through this process in its entirety...

Say your current rate is 7.5%, they will give you a new rate of 5.5% for 12 months then 6.5% for the next 12 months then your loan adjusts back up to 7.5% for 40 years.

For me this amounts to a savings of about $200 per month for 40 years. I am already 5 years into a 30 year fixed, it makes no sense to add on 15 years of interest to save a mere $200 a month. Has anyone else actually modded their loans or gotten offers like these?

I applied for the Hardship Solutions package and received my call today. Because my expenses exceed my income I am not eligible. Eligibility applies only to those who's income and expenses are equal. They had the nerve to ask me to cut back on my grocery spending and to increase my income. Sure, I will get to work on increasing that income right away.

And like many, many others on this board I too have had escrow problems with them ever since I bought this home.

CitiMortgage refinance hassle

I attempted to refinance with citi mortgage, and I had a bad experience. I was assured I had received "final" approval for my refinance. But... I had to fork over $250 for a "rate lock" fee. I did so. Then, lo and behold, a condition arose that had to be satisfied before closing. Specifcally I had to scrape off peeling and chipped paint from the outside of our home (It's an fha loan). Hello! We live in erie and the winter is record breaking for cold and snow. When the h-e-double hockey stick am I supposed to do this work?

Then, citi mortgage increased the proposed loan amount by $2, 000 over their previous estimate. That would have meant refinancing an under $76, 000 mortgage for... Get this... $83, 000. The "explanation" I received was that the loan payoff amount had changed (Yes... It was lower because I make my payments on time you idiots), and because of the appraised value of the house. Neither "explanation" made any sense at all. I expected some increase because they were going to escrow my property taxes and insurance... But certainly nothing like $7, 000!

These scam artists promised full approval, took my $250 and then made the loan unworkable. I would suggest people avoid this bunch of con artists at all costs.

Citi is the Worse! I am stuck re-financing with them because my house is not 80% LTV, whose is? Thanks to some legislation that Obama passed, I am able to refinance, but only with my current lender, and this is so I can get my ex-spouse off the mortgage or I would not bother with this hassle right now. They have lost everything I send them, tell me to send in AorB, so I send in B, and then get told a month later, that A is all they will accept. Things I was told in the beginning of this process are not happening and the whole process is laughable. Again, something I sent in 6 wks ago is not received? Last week I was all set for a closing date, but now the underwritter wants something else and what I sent before has to be sent in again! What a joke. Also, super high closing costs! The APR is higher than average too! Unfortunately, I am stuck without any other option. I am very dissapointed in CItimortgage.

I have exactly the same experience. I am with CitiMortgage now for 4 years. At one time they voluntarily reduced my interest with just one signature. This time I tried to reduce the interest from 5.85% to 5.00% and they asked to to go through a tedious process. During the sales pitch they promised me to have a Citi credit card with one year interest free. Few days later I received a letter from their credit card department saying the application has been denied because they couldn't verify my employment. If I wanted to really get that credit card, they said, I would need to provide tons of documents. Screw it, I felt. They never did try to verify because I worked in a small company and no one had received their call. That I don't really care but it just shows the tactics they use to deter you, i.e. by putting a big burden on your to get the paper work.

As far as the actual refinance part. The minute I finished the conversation with their rep. my credit card was charged with $810 application fees. They sent an appraiser to my house before the loan application agreement was signed. Few weeks later I got an email from their processor requesting me to provide a list of documentation and explanations. I did my running around and satisfied their requirement in one day. Few weeks past, I didn't hear anything from them so I sent them an email. They replied me that my application had been declined.

The rep. I spoke to never replies anything. Voice mails, emails, she never replies. The only person I could have some communications is their paperwork processor who's role is just to making sure the right documents were sent and signed.

BTW, they pre-qualified me with an one hour phone conversation asking many questions. I told them the truth and the rep. said my chance was excellent because my high credit sore and high income. I am making $400, 000 a year. My house was appraised for $1.3 million and my loan is $800, 000. I also have paid off property for rent income. I consulted other loan agent friends of mine and they all said there was no good reason to decline my application. Some people on the Internet have suggested that this is a practice of CitiMortgage to collect loan application fees without any intention to refinance to begin with. Shame! Shame! Shame! Shame! CitMortgage.

We are in the same boat, trying to refinancing with Citi. They asked lots of documents, some of them were not even remotely related. Our loan processor, Cathyann never return phone calls or emails. It has been two months, but still hanging!

Citimortgage promised a rate reduction from the existing mortgage I have with them of 5.8 to 4.2, with 3 weeks to close. My property appraised at $500, 000; my loan amount I requested was $118, 000.00. I have paid back $30, 000 in extra principal beyond the mortgage payments in the past year. I have an 830 credit score with an income over $150, 000 per year. Two months later they still want more paperwork and need to know how much I pay in taxes on another property I own, worth $400, 000, which is free and clear! This is a joke! I paid the appraisal fee of $455.00 and they have done nothing but stall. I honestly believe I am in the top 1 or 2% of credit-worthy individuals. They could have reduced the interest rate in a stroke of the electronic pen. And all the federal money that has gone to shore them up! It's outrageous. I'm cancelling my request for a loan. I'll have the property paid off in 2 years and don't need their stall strategem.

I too am in that boat with Citi and they seem not to care. I have been in the "process" (whatever that is) of refinancing my citi loan with citi since January 2009. Not even leaving the company. I have worked with 4 different loan consultants, seemingly they keep leaving the company and my loan process gets dropped. Now they can't find my financial paperwork that I sent them, this makes me just a little nervous that they now admit they can't find my paperwork.

OK, 4 people later, 6 months down the road, they want me to pay higher fees, because I didn't close on time. I did everything as they asked, and had all my paperwork to them quickly, then... long periods of time with no responses. Someone would finally call me to see if I was still interested in refinancing, and the process would start all over again. Each time with different fees, different promises, different closing costs, and a higher interest rate. Seemed no one can honor anything they promise without a supervisor who always, without fail says no or never says anything again.

I have found the email addresses for 2 supervisors, These are:
Gutierrez, Brian J": brian.j.gutierrez@citi.com, and
Canales, Richard ": richard.canales@citi.com. I assume the second is a supervisor but I have never heard frmo him and Brian won't respond either. Whoever they are, Citi loan consultants have been forwarding them my loan info and financial info, but have never identified who they are to me.

I have also been privileged to have been on a mass email where my information went out from the loan consultant to many people. This occured 3 times. This email was not a blinded email so I have all the email addresses for many other citi customers. I had to remind them of the privacy policy they have to send us each year.

My loan consultants have been: Kimmy Jackson, who they report no longer works for the company and dropped my loan process, Arlene Matos took over and she also somehow disappeared from the company, again dropping my loan process. The next consultant I worked with was Valerie Mendoza, this one was brief and I have no idea where she went. Then I received another call some time later from a Claudia Gutierrez, again asking if I was still interested in refinancing my loan. She also passed me on and dropped out of the process. And finally I started woking with Aaron Balli, the last consultant who made promises to get things done and meet my needs. Then he sent me an application and expected that I would start all over again with the entire process but sent me out dated loan papers with the name of the first consultant, (Kimmy Jackson who does not even work there any more) on them.

Each time they changes consultants, there was a long delay with no information and then a phone call asking if I were still interested. Each time I said yes and they tried to get me to start allover again. Each time they told me they were unable to locate my paperwork. Excuses like, It was on someone computer that was cleared when they left the company, it was destroyed because it was to old, or simply that I must not have sent it at all.

I am now in a holding pattern again with no information coming, The last I heard was that I was going to have to re-apply and start again. But this time Aaron was going to talk to his supervisor Brian Gutierrez and had good news for me. BAM! Gone. I have since emailed Aaron and his supervisor Brian with no response. Brian's email the last few times has been "out of office" status with redirection to 2 additional names for assistance. I have also emailed these 2 individuals with no response. So now I am posting to every web site I can find as well as working to contact President Obama's economic team where Richard Parsons, Chairman of the Board for Citigroup sits. Citi received $20 billion in bailout funds. Maybe they can hire someone who will stay around.

I am having the same frustrating experience when trying to reach a deal for my past due payments. A week ago I received a letter offering to postpone my overdue payments to the end of my loan!

When I called they said that I don't qualify because I am past due? I asked who qualify for this program they told me that it is only for people who is up to date on the payments... duh! Why I will be asking to postpone my payments if I am up to date?

Does anybody has a way to reach Congress to let them know that the famous "BAILOUT" is only for Wall street not for the people on the streets!

I am having the same issues with Citi! I started my refinance at the beginning of Dec. They charged my Credit Card on 12/16 for $480.00. We keep getting the run-around with everything! Something keeps coming up with making them happy and stalling for more time. Even stupid stuff that is a typical requirement from the get go with other mortgage companies.

They have made me feel like I live in a Dump and have ruined the Holidays and here we are passed Valentines Day... and I still have NO ANSWERS...however they have my money! Sometimes we have gone weeks without having emails answered or any phone calls and in the mean times I have spent thousands on the house trying to please them and it is all for nothing.

I've been online comparing rates and closing costs to refinance my 30 year fixed mortgage. CitiMortgage is what I have now at 6.5%. I checked out Citi for refinancing and their rate is MUCH higher (6.104 apr with 0 points) and closing fees of $4400 (I have escrow for taxes and insurance) so with Citi it wouldn't save me anything.

I checked out LendingTree and the best I've seen there is 5.577% apr with 1 point. Closing fees are comparable.

I checked two local banks, the best gave me 5.102% apr, 0 points and $3522 for closing costs.

My impression of Citi is they aren't wanting to refinance so their rates are high.

Lending tree, by the way, currently won't refinance if a loan < $100k.

CitiMortgage defer a payment

I am so happy to hear that I'm no the only person that is feeling like Citimortgage is the worst lender to do biz with. I have great credit and I still can't defer a payment. I have ask several people over the last few weeks to help me in a serious time of need and I can't get any help! My developer went bankrupt and left me with major problems in my house and I need to fix them. But rather than going into my savings, silly me, I was thinking that I could defer my mortgage for two months to take care of the problems. Guess that works with some banks, not with Citi! Oh they mention having a "hardship" plan, but it doesn't work for everyone. Guess bail outs are only for the big guys, not the small guys that fuel big biz. What a world we live in!

Well, I am just getting started on my CitiMortgage -no service, rude deferment request. I too have never been late, I have good credit, but due to job loss, no unemployment income and no more savings, I was told that I could not get a deferment. Yesterday I was refused a deferment via phone by the most rude and information grabbing, trying to get money bank associate on the phone. I felt as if I were a deadbeat talking to a collection agency and not a bank associate offering assistance. I know that Fannie Mae allows banks to make deferments, and I do not know where to go for help. I need an attorney, I am ready to join any class action effort in IL (Chicago)

Beware !- Citi-Mortgage has seen the enemy and it them. Trying to receive a payment deferment- HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE.

There is not a single person for two weeks that can tell me what my deferment status is. Some do not know, others have said its approved and other Citi Mortgage operators say it been denied.
Citi, mortgage has perfected " Catch 22". This company knows as much about customer service, as a pig knows about Sunday.

CitiMortgage scam and cheating

Due to my paycheck schedule, I decided to start making two monthly payments to CitiMortgage for my loan, split evenly.

I got a letter today saying they are going to 'accelerate' my foreclosure! Of course, I know that all my payments have been made! I have bank records to back it up.

I called the hotline. The last reported date they received my payment was in September-the last month I paid the entire mortgage in one payment. I have made three payments since with October's two payments (which equal MORE than my mortgage) not being recorded, nor my payment in November. Keep in mind, my bank account was debited. That means, they have my money...have not recorded it and they are threatening me. Also...it is not like they have been 'rejecting' the money and putting it back into my account.

I hate this company. It is no wonder they are failing. I hope they do at this point so another company can take over my mortgage.

Have anyone else had this issue? What do I do? Any legal attempt to take my house by them would back fire as I have proof they have accepted my money but I am still scared. How can a company do this?

Did you pre arrange your twice a month payment with CitiMortgage? If not, when sending in 1/2 payments did you list how much of the payment was to go to escrow, interest & principal? Without doing that, if they receive money they will automatically apply it directly to the principal, not as a 1/2 months payment. This is how you ended up as past due on your mortgage. .Your mortgage is a legal contract & you cannot make your own changes to it. The only thing I can suggest is to talk to someone & see if they applied the money to principal & ask them to remove that amount & re apply them as monthly payments, & honestly I don't know if they can or will. I know they offer a twice monthly payment plan, but you have to switch over to it, you can't just start doing it without them being a part of the process. How are they supposed to know where to put your partial payments if they don't have you set up on the twice monthly plan? So they apply them to the principal. I've had CitiMortgage for over 30 yrs & never had a problem with them. At one point I was jobless for a long time & almost ended up in foreclosure. They worked with me & set up a repayment plan that took 1 yr to catch up on past due amount while still making the monthly payments due. I didn't find them hard to work with or unreasonable.

I know that they won't take a payment because you are in foreclosure. You have to pay the account up in full in one payment through the foreclosure office. Many banks and mortgage companies have that policy

I agree CitiMortgage horrid...I have been paying on an estate for 5 years now and today they told me they will no longer accept payments as they just realized the original loan holder is dead...Now for the past 5 years they have had the death certificate and have accepted payments knowing the original loan holder died...Now I have to go out and get a loan to pay them off...And to top it off there is only $12, 000 owed on the loan...

I am also with citimortgage, and I have had a trying time with them as well. What the jerk "a fair opinion" needs to understand is that not everyone went with citimortgage initially. I financed locally through a local bank who went under, and my mortgage was bought by citimortgage. I didn't get any type of corrospondence or anything from them for 2 months, and it was a nightmare getting them to apply my payments from the other bank for that time period. I would refi, but I don't want to pay closing to go somewhere else, and the rates aren't what they were 3 years ago. "A fair opinion" needs to keep their opinions to themselves.

I soooo totally agree with all of you above...except Nancy from Ocala. I've been dealing with CitiMortgage for over four years, and have had THE WORST dealings with them. I had a few months of financial difficulty 16 months ago. I was encouraged to refinance when the rates got so low, started the modification process, got approved for a fantastic rate (2.9%) that lowered my monthly payment by half, made my payments on time. Great, right? NOT! CitiMortgage had 'no record' of the refinance/modification. The payments I had been sending in are not recognized and were placed somewhere...nobody can tell me where they went...all because I wasn't sending in the entire payment as was on the original loan! What the heck was the point in sending in hundreds of pages of financial documents to "qualify for the refinance" ? What was the point in talking with ten different customer service reps about the refinance procedure, doing this for them, doing that for them? What's the point in ANY OF IT if CitiMortgage NEVER INTENDED to honor the modification/refinance? Now, I'm days from foreclosure, I'm exhausted trying to fight for my home and getting nowhere, and I can't talk with the same customer service rep twice in a row. To top this off, CitiMortgage had the audacity the other day to suggest that I accept "an incentive" of $3, 000.00 from them... ! ...to just walk away from my home that I have lived in for 12 years with my famly. I was trying to do my due diligence in keeping them informed of my situation for that short time. THEY WERE THE ONES that encouraged me to go for the refinance, and now they don't even want to work with me. I HATE THEM, I HATE THEM, I HATE THEM. If anybody knows of a class-action lawsuit that I could join, Please let me know!

If you would read the terms of the note you signed for when your mortgage company agreed to lend your ignorant self money, you would understand whyyyyyyyyy your payments are not being applied. The "note" is very general for loans, it states you will make your payment in full on the day it is due. So sweetheart go to school, get some education to learn to read and than maybe you will understand why your mortgage company is not accepting your payments. You all make me very sad, I had more faith in peoples intelligence, you prove me wrong.

I am on the phone with Citimortgage right now. I had applied for a loan modification. Was turned down and then they apparently approved me without notification so when my payments arrived they just put them in Unapplied funds. I just found out by accident they hadn't applied them. I have spent 2 hours today getting my funds reapplied correctly and my late fee waived and making sure that they didn't affect my credit report. It has been a 6 month nightmare dealing with them. It has ben so bad that I put my entire phone log from Jan 29 to June 10th I believe up on the CNN mortgage blog. And I have about another page more of phone numbers. Make sure each time you talk with someone you ask for their ID number. At least then you know who told you what. Keep a log of every phone call and what was said, time, date, name of employee and ID. I don't know how I am going to get someones attention at Citimortgage but I am going to try to get someones name that I can report this to along with finding a banking commission or someone else that oversees them. There has to be someone!

CitiMortgage fraud, mis placement of funds.. you name it!!!

I sit and read all of these complaints and shake my head, as my family has been a victim of each instance! Missing money from escrow, how about $5800! Needless to say no-one in any of the departments we were transferred to repeatedly could tell us where exactly it went. Ahh yes, and an insurance claim. We had some pretty serious water damage to our bathroom, and they had an adjuster come out who stated it'd be a short time to receive the claim check. This was on September 6th 2008, we got a check November 10th 2008 made out to us and the mortgage company and were told to endorse it and they would distribute funds and they deemed necessary. Meanwhile a family of 4 and sometimes 5 is without a functioning bathroom. It's damn sad when you call and you get someone in the Philippines who is absolutely clueless as to what you are saying, let alone access your account and possibly answer your questions. ABN Amro was a great compant to deal with, when they sold our mortgage to Citi Mortgage it was like stepping right into the bowels of HELL. I empathize with all of you who wrote a complaint here. Every day you just never know what the mail will bring, the emotional and physical stress of it has really taken it's toll on my family. Flipping Frenzy.com was the only place I found that would listen to my complaints and sound as though they can possibly help. Send your stories to [protected]@ralphroberts.com. If enough of us are saying the same thing, the Government can not keep turning a blind eye. Every aspect of Citi Mortgage is a joke, they are repeat offenders from what I have read here today, and need to be stopped. They have gotten $5800 of my families money, not to mention another $1503 that was never applied properly, my taxes have been paid incorrectly causing yet another whirlwind of POO for my family . The insurance company they deal with (Assurant out of florida)even told me today on the phone that they can not even handle the calls because it is a branch of Citi Mortgage, so when Citi mortgage sent $837 three times in 1 year for my 1 year policy, they were conveniently over paying themselves. These people, this company are #$@##$%^ THIEVES!

I've been dealing with CitiMortgage since November 2009, I had called them after my mother past away to find out what the monthly payments where and to catch up on the payments since her death. She and I had purchased the home together in 1985 she primarily lived in the home. Every time I called I was told I wasn't legally liable for this loan, never could get an answer of why, since she and I signed the papers. I contacted CitiMortgage from November 2009 thru May 2010. Was told to go online to do a loan modification, in May I was told I couldn't do a Loan Modification cause my name waan't on the loan. Now during this time I was told to hold off on making any payments until the loan modification was completed. In the middle of May 2010 after being told I wasn't on the loan that my mother had refinanced the home in 2004 that I would have to assume the loan over. Filled out the paper work, then the next thing I get is Foreclosure papers in my mothers' name, around the first of June 2010.I contacted the Law Firm explained what I've been going through, went and filled the response at the court. During November 2009 thru May 2010 I had talked to over 50 CSR at CitiMortgage getting different answers. I contacted CitiMortgage asking them what was going on, since I had filled out the Assumption papers to get the loan modification finally going. Upper management informed me they had stopped all work on the Loan Modification and the assumption has been stopped. From June 2010 til September 8th, 2010 I didn't hear a word from CitiMortgage until September 8th, 2010 when they had called. I returned the call on September 9th, 2010 giving them my mothers' last four digits of her SS number as I've done on numerous times. Being told that as of August 28th, 2010 the loan was placed into my name and that I should be happy so that I can get the Loan Modification going again. I was applaud to the fact I never informed of this until after the fact. Again started the loan modification again, having CitiMortgage dropping the ball, requesting information that I had already submitted in several times. Then was informed in November 2010 that I wasn't approved for the HAM program, I wasn't even doing that I was told I was doing a Traditional Modification. So again had to restart all over again. Then the case manager dropped the ball, and again had to restart the process again. I've have jumped through hoops, I fell as if I've been on a roller coaster, during all this. Was told that it went to final underwriters on April 3, 2011, would call in get a message "We are please to announce your papers have been sent please review, sign and send back in" and the CSR couldn't find anything in the notes, to that fact. On May 2, 2011 had to send in my daughters Birth Certificate and a letter from SS on her award letter, being told on May 6, 2011 it's gone back into final underwriter, on May 11, 2011 getting a message left on my cell phone "We are please to announce your papers have been sent please review, sign and send back in", I call and talk to a CSR I'm being told that isn’t correct actually something about I was sending in $325.00 for what she couldn't tell me, then a note that they have started Foreclosure oh but what no they placed that on hold. I get home and call the one person at CitiMortgage that I semi trust and she couldn't believe what they are doing, it stated something about $325.00 but she couldn't see what it was in regards to not unless that is what I'm needing to put down as a payment. Then a note about Foreclosure, but it's still in the Final Approval for Loan Modification. She emailed three different parties within the company and ask that I call back on May 12, 2011. Called talked to her today, no answers to any of our questions except it's in Pending Review, was told to call back at 7:00 since she was going to talk to her manager about this. Now since I've been told prior to not make any payment and the back balance was going up every month, I told them back in December that I'm tired of being told prior to this that I wasn't legally liable to make payments that I was going to since I do want o keep this house. So I made a payment that I was told the amount needed and that it would go towards December 2010, another lie. When I called to make January payment I was informed that the payment went towards the back balance and oh by the way either in June or July 2010 the payments have gone up, but just keep making the regular payments, once you have caught up on that you can start making the new payment amount. Now dong that the back balance keeps going up, instead of $5000.00 behind I'm now $15, 000 plus. I had a loan placed into my name without my knowledge ruining my credit showing late payments. And being screwed around by CitiMortgage. What is it going to take to stop theses people, from there lying to people, and to actually start doing the correct thing. I had asked them on numerous times to send me out a letter that they stated they had sent to me back in early September 2010 regarding the name changed it took them over 5 months to do that, what funny they have the date on the letter as August 28, 2010, this is how stupid they are there's a print on the outside of the letter of when it was mailed. All I wanted it to get the payments lowered since I new they should have been $624.00, and couldn't understand why they jumped up to over $800.00 and now $900.00. In the papers that I finally got which was only half, then finally went to the actual closing company, I found a fraudulent Quick Claim Deed, dated in 2002 or 2003 with my signature. But as CitiMortgage put it I should be happy they placed the loan under my name, no I'm not happy it's a complete nightmare.
A house my mother and I bought for $65, 000.00, she refinanced for $90, 000.00 without me even knowing about that. I can’t change that but I’m not able to sleep, without waking up having panic attach. CitiMortage need to stop ruining people’s lives, and to get things straightened up and do the correct thing without making it difficult. Or placing names unto a loan without notifying.

Now ther are behind in their payments, her husband has been out of work but they received no notification from Citi? What's up with that? Now after reading all the other comments about how this company has burned people I see what's up? They are trying to work with a lawyer or company to try and save their home please keep them in your prayers and I am all for a class action law suit! Bring it on, what they are doing is so wrong!

We are having a similar problem with Citimortgage. They made several adjustment to our escrow account, which is resulting in them taking appox. $1, 700 of our excrow money. I have called numerous times and even talked to managers and have been given "so-called" work order or claim number claims and they would get back to me. I have even got transfered and no one would ever pick up. I was actually given a fax number to send my request to, I doubt it is going to help, but I told the girl that I spoke to that I will fax my request in Monday and that by Friday if I don't have any response and fix to my account, that I will have the Attorney General's office investigate.

CitiMortgage no assistance 4 customer

Citi bought my loan 3 yrs ago. Since then I have had ZERO customer service. No one is ever available to talk to you when you need something, phone lines and fax lines dont work, no one ever has any information... And here is the kicker: The modifications and/or hardship assistance program is a farce: THERE IS NO HELP FOR HOMEOWNERS IN CRISIS! I have owned this home for 8 years and up until a bad business investment 3 yrs ago, I have had excellent credit. Now that i am a hardship situation ( LIKE SO MANY ARE!) ty refuse to help or modify. Silly me thought bailout money from MY TAX DOLLARS was suppose to help>> YEAH, RIGHT! Citi is a big ripoff

CitiMortgage bought our loan 2 years ago and has no customer service at all. Our loan comes up for adjustment in February and we will not play their game - we will just let our Real Estate Lawyer take over - I will take the money from our tenants and stop paying them if they continue to blow us off. "Wait 3 months and we'll send you the paperwork. We can't talk until you are behind on your mortgage. Here is the number for that Department" : then we call and call and there is nothing on the other end.

The Bank we had originally financed with and then refinanced with, Fleet Mortgage, was a great one to work with, but CitiBank is only a Bank for Corporations and the elite. So before I shove it all up their uncaring behinds, I will take all of our money out of Citi and then stick my finger up in the air, unless by some miracle they are willing to work with us in a positive way, which I doubt will ever happen.

Why not take the money from the rental throughout the long foreclosure processs or at least until Citi agrees to a Shortsale? Screw them. They are a Bank full of a-holes, and the Government Program Obama put his name on is a joke in an economy where most houses are worth less than 60 percent of wht they once were - Let Citi eat the paper, and half the house too. We'll get our A Credit rating back in time.

When you call Citimortgage make sure you document the time you call and get the agents ID number. If you have a device to record them make sure you do this too. My home was placed in forclosure and I was told by the lawyers that were hired by Citi If I’d not been so savy and knew how to document I’d lost my home. Now I’m doing the short sale and it’s a nightmare…, but of course I’ve already filled up a notebook of documents of the conversations to cover my asss. BEWARE OF ASHELY LESTER WITH NATIONAL QUICK SALE… This is a third party company that is helping Citi with these short sales. She is not on your side BEWARE OF NATIONAL QUICK SALE they are not trying to help you. I put $3, 00.00 dollars into my house to help sell it and she went behind my back and dropped the price from 98, 000.00 to 31, 500.00 with my signature. The realtor was in total shock he said, I can’t believe she did that.. of course I have her recorded and a e-mail trial of all the WRONG things she did. Again BEWARE of this company. They had the nerve to ask me, “why are you so involved with this?” I said, Are you serious?, I work for a bank also I know what you are doing is wrong. She said, Well we aren’t use to the homeowner being so involved…. Nuff said. BEWARE!

After two years trying to work with CitiMortgage, I am worse off. I lost my wife's income due to her cancer operations. Medical fees, depleting savings, , my 401k, and liquidating what I can. I spent two years of stress talking with numerous Citi employees with them all asking the same questions and never getting results. What one person says you can do, another person says you can't. The end result for me was a modification reducing my mortgage $137 a month by giving me a 40 yr, interest only loan, , , plus adding $15, 000 to the end of the loan for penalties I was charge during a trial period. I wasn't told they were going to charge the fees. My modification was $1192 with a $875 fee. I found a descrepancy in the loan and called them about it. They said it was a computer mistake, its now $1398 but new fees, a week later they called back and said there is a $1875 fee. They did everything they could to drain me. Helping a customer is not a concern, they are in the business to make money. Now I'm presently still in my home. Appraised at $140k and I owe $300k. Lucky me! I still have to replace the roof, repair and finish a pool and the AC needs to be replaced. Where's the incentive to stay? I can no longer afford this home. I don't know how to break the news to my wife and son. I see there are many in the same boat. I've been in this home for 26 years and rebuilt it. Now with the economy and lifes challenges, I'll have to leave.

The modifications and/or hardship assistance program is a farce: They have not tried to help anyone that I know of with the modification. After breaking my finger while working i stay out 1 year to recover not by choice, but because I needed time to let it heal. I have sent so many doc. to get the modifications they cant delaying you only for you to get more behind and do nothing to help you. I have been in my house since 2004 and now that i am about to lose my home they keep delaying me, miss leading me and even giving me the run around. They have all this money from obama's plan and they are not even helping no one. I dont have good credit because i got behind with the mortgage. They are not helping customers with the loans, and if they are suppose to are have this money to do so then they should be doing so, if they dont then I dont have anything else to say but its wrong how citimortgage is holding out on those who are trying.

Citi Mortgage is a joke. I was going through a divorce and we had a 2nd home in Florida. The bubble burst and my ex decided she was no longer going to pay her 1/2 of the Florida mortgage. We contacted Citi and were told that they couldn't talk to us until we were 30-45 days delinquent. We ended up doing a deed-in-lieu but now they won't take my ex's name off my primary home loan due to that on my credit report. I can't refinance because of that mark on my credit report and all I want is for my ex's name to be removed from my loan. I have no idea what to do.

Hello to All,

Honestly I can relate to all of you. Since Sept.2008 my husband and I been seeking help with Citi. First they put us into a payment plan, then trial modification..etc..etc...I wonder if there's any way or the media can send a message out there of what these Citimortgage so call good reps are doing to millions of us that are trying to safe and stay in their home.

I was planning a move out of town so I put my home up for sale and it was on the market for months with no offers. At that time I was not behind on my mortgage. I found a renter moved in with my mom and moved out of state. The renter stopped paying my property manager "use the term loosely" stopped answering calls and basically screwed me. When it came to paying my rent where I currently lived and paying my mortgage my mortgage got paid but it was a little late. In the midst of it all I FINALLY got the deadbeats out of my home AFTER they stole checks that were sent to my old address and the police got involved. This was months later and at this point the house was empty. I could no longer pay everything so I fell behind in my mortgage payments. I contacted Citi repeatedly and left messages with EVERYONE but no one knew anything. I was transferred from department to department to department... it was ENDLESS and unproductive. I finally got a renter in the house and I was finally told I could do a modification then was put on a payment plan ... paying about 150 over my mortgage amount. I was told to make the extra payments for a few months sending by certified check then I'd get some paperwork giving me my final amount that I'd begin to pay. I NEVER heard from my "counselor" again. He never answered my calls and never returned my calls again. I've called over and over and over and over and OVER! Each time I've been told I haev to talk to a different person and I've called and left messages. Today I FINALLY hear from someone who tells me since I don't live in the house they can't modify my loan and I'm now 8 months behind because the payments I was sending in technically didn't count. If it wasn't so HORRIBLE it would be funny! LOL So basically the lady tells me ... my new payments will be $250 over what my normal payments were. However... if I put a couple thousand down... lol I told her she could STOP talking right then! She told me my only options were to pay what she said or do a Short Sale. This is just RIDICULOUS and at this point I don't give a d*mn anymore. My only concern is... I own my own home now (for what it's worth) the way the banks are holding onto the money they are supposed to be lending... I'm scared I won't be able to get another home loan in the future (couple years). However, this WHOLE process is just a massive headache...

CitiMortgage is a JOKE! These are the most the most laziest, worthless lenders I have EVER encountered. March of this year we were qualified to refi with them (I called THEM) and FINALLY after 1 month they sent the packet for our review and we were to send it back in. You better beleive it was mailed actually sent FEDEX next day delivery to them. Didn't hear anything for 2 weeks. I decide to call in they try and say they never received it, FUNNY becasue I had a signed receipt confirmation that they received it, AND I also faxed over the necessary sheets, and had confirmation the fax went through. Well then their story changed and it was in for review. Well while I waited I sent over my information for a modification. Long story short, its now nearing the end of July, I have called those worthless ### every week and have yet gotten no further than where I was. No one ever knows anything when you call, and as soon as I throw out that I have a list a mile long of people I spoke with there and the dates and times and their comments I either get hung up on or left on hold. Citmortgage is a bunch of ###!

The Citimortgage Homeowner's Assistance Program is a farce. The CEO of Citimortgage was on TV several months back touting his proactive programs in assisting homeowners by scaling back their monthly mortgage payments to $500 for at least three months. This was a lie! I was laid off at the beginning of the month and immediately called - waited until yesterday to hear back from them - only to have them tell me that since I am unemployed they cannot help me! Of course, the person I spoke with did not have an answer to my question about their CEO spouting off on TV and making himself look good.

It is all lies and obfuscation. They don't care about the little people. The media needs to stop advising people to contact their creditors if they run in to hard times. The absolute worst thing that you can do is contact any of them because any assistance (and I use the term loosely) will result in your credit card account being closed. If it is a mortgage, and you are unemployed, you are screwed! If you are unlucky enough to lose your job, there are no programs for you - not even for three months to allow you to get back on your feet. So much for the billions of dollars that went to the banks - when do we get our little share? This is a national disgrace and the people need to let those bloated pompous ### that we have elected know that we are not happy. At the very least, kiss me before you do me!

Today I contacted CitiMortgage for the 7th time since December regarding their Homeowner's Assistance program. Like a couple of others who have written, I am simply trying to be PROACTIVE and get things taken care of before we are in a hole we cannot get ourselves out of. Since December, I have been told to wait for up to 6 weeks everytime I call. They have taken a breakdown of our income v debts (3) times and it always gets lost in their system. We are assigned to counselors that cannot be reached unless they call you, and even then from the hours of 9-5. Today I was told our case had been closed. They had been trying to call a number not even associated with my account. Since there is another number available for them to call I asked why they didn't try that number. Taking the time to dial 20 digits isnt that much more difficult than dialing 10. The woman who answered my call told me that even though I have been calling since December it doesn't matter because they tried to contact me and didn't get me. When I asked for her supervisor I was told that he wouldn't be able to help me. When I asked to speak to someone at CitiMortgage who could help me, she said-- "No one at CitiMorgage will ever be able to help you ma'am". I told her she had just said a mouthfull. She then proceeded to tell me that I was trying to manipulate their system to suit my needs. Funny since all I have been doing is calling and waiting, calling and waiting, submitting my information again, calling then waiting. I wish I knew I was manipulating so poorly. She then told me that now the operators are able to give you an instant yes or no about whether you qualify for assistance through them BUT they have no house value for us in their system so before she needs to ORDER ONE AND IT WILL TAKE 2 WEEKS! It's been since December. We pay our VERY high payment on time every month and we are sinking. I can't get anyone to contact me or help me or even listen. Finally, I was told that if I called with the attitude I had today again, no one would help me. Well, honestly no one is helping me now. It's all a scam to make CitiMortgage look like they are helpful.

CitiMortgage getting insurance money

I am having great difficulty getting the insurance money I sent Citimortgage, along with a whole ream of forms. They basically took the check and are sitting on it. Meanwhile, I have a house with a damaged roof from Hurricane Ike that I can not get repaired after almost 3 months because the money is being held hostage by the mortgage company. Each time I call, I get a different run-around. They tell me they are protecting their investment, but they are keeping me from repairing my house. Is there no one who can do anything about this?

I just received a check from my insurance to fix my roof. I have had to have an attorney to fight Citi on another matter, and was not about to send them this check. Guess its back to my attorney, because I know exactly what these people meant about all Citi's promises, double talk, lies, and silence. Why with all the other things our government buts into, do they do nothing to control these parasites! Oh, maybe they(including the insurances companies) are all getting our money. We sure aren't!

Can not get an inspection done on my partially repaired house. House was damaged by fire. 1st inspection was asked for on 11-22-10 and ordered on 11-23-10. As of 12-6-10 there has been no inspection and I have called several times and all I get is how sorry everyone at Citimortgage is but it just doesn't get done. Meanwhile the contractor has pulled his crew off the job site because he just cannot stick anymore money into the project without getting some payment. While this is all happening, I am living in cramped rented quarters with 3 children and now it seems it is going to take even longerto get back in my house. Isn't there someone at Citimortgage that can get this done? HELP ME! Tanja McMillan Jamestown, ND

I live in Nassau Bay Texas a few blocks from Clear Lake. I am one of the lucky ones that did not loose my home to Herricane Ike however I did have sever roof damage and damage to other things as well.

I received the Insurance claim checks from the insurance company and in accordance with the directions I receivbed on the WWW.mylossdraft.com website, I sent the check to CITIMortgage Inc. and now I cannot find out anything about what is going on with the Insurance Money from the Policy I pay for (NOT CITI MORTGAGE).

It feels like I just threw the check away when I sent it to CITI. I have six written estimates to accomplish repair of my roof, fence and lighting systems. I am ready to negotiate with the roofers and start the job. CITI is holding up the repair in their infinate wisdom, demagogery and incompetance.

Does anyone know a phone number to call and obtain status?

Please advise.

So now we are taking it a step futher and hiring and attorney to help us out. Everyday that I called I got a different story and a different lie. So it only gets worse.

CitiMortgage loss draft dept

I suffered a plumbing failure and subsequent flooding in my house in Florida while I was away on vacation. The insurance company promptly sent an adjuster and sent a check to me to cover the damages. Since CitiMortgage had the mortgage on the house I was required to endorse the check and send it to them to be placed in an escrow account. That was in early Oct. I was acting as the General Contractor and they released one third of the amount after a long delay caused by getting conflicting information from different people at CitiMortgage as to what forms were required. I have never known a business that requires 3 to 4 days from the receipt of a fax to acknowledgment that it has been received by the dept. that it was addressed to! Their policy dictates that as the repairs are made inspections are required to verify that the work is actually being done. My kitchen has now been inoperable for two weeks and is exposed to the attic, repairs have been made and it is now ready for the installation of the cabinets and the sub-contractors are anxious to be paid for the work so far. Nothing ever gets done at CitiMortgage in less than 3 to 5 business days. I felt an obligation to pay the sub contractors from my own checking account and am waiting once more to get another third of my money that they have been holding since early Oct. This company is totally mismanaged and it is no surprise that they get similar complaints from many others. Aside from that, the idiots in their trust dept just lost half of the money in a family trust they have had since 1927 and collected their fees every year for basically doing nothing except put our money in under performing funds sponsored by the bank. Nice going fellas. No wonder your stock is $6 bucks.

Citimortgage is the worst ever, they lie and cheap you out of money, and won't help you if you need it. We have been trying to contact them about our mortgage payments and our income for about a year and they don't respond to phone call and letters. We are completely upside down in our home, have lived here for 9 years, have raised our kids and now raising a grandson here and they don't give a ### about anybody but their f'in money, and they they get it, whats owed them. According to obama they are suppose to help the people stay in their homes, by doing whatever it takes to help but, yeah, right! Them help, would be like a act of the good lord himself. They haven't even had my mortgage, but almost 4 years so they don't know anything about us or even care.

I was browsing to find a way to contact and complain at Citi Mortgage and found your website. I am glad I did. You think trouble. We were hit with a tornado on April 27 and insurance sent money fairly quickly but the ordeal with the mortgage company has been a nightmare. They say they need this and that sent in, you do it and they come up with something new. When you have 80 thousand worth of damage they expect you to get money in one third increments, which putting a new metal roof on took most of that money. It has been a month or better and it is a nightmare. I have heard that they invest that money and make intrest off the money we paid in to the insurance company. What is up with that. They sure want their mortgage payment on time... Just saying...

We have had trouble with Citimortgage on an insurance claim as well. The work has been done since the end of May and 1 contractor still has not been paid, plus they will not get us a statement telling us who has been paid and the amount that was paid. We have kept track of the amounts that were to be paid out and there is $46.10 that has been unaccounted
for. We have not been able to get a straight answer out of anyone that we have talked to. This stress has caused my husband to have a heart attach. Lets band together and take them to court

My story is similar to several of those posted in here. I paid for the repairs in full after a Citi rep told me once they receive the check, they already had the necessary paperwork and the payment would be released. That was in November. It is now the second week of February (three months) and they are still holding over $6K in funds. They told me the roof needed to be 95% clear of snow coverage in order to inspect it, but this is Minnesota, and that isn't happening for awhile. After I explained that, I was instructed to submit a "certification of completion" form, and the funds would be released... why wasn't that an option from the beginning? I have had at least four different interactions with them, and while the people I spoke with were friendly, it makes me question the tactics of the company, or perhaps it is just inadequate staff and/or training.

I am another contractor who has all of the same complaints as this seems to be going on for the past 5 years, based on the above comments! Horrible Customer Service! There is None! Don't Anyone go with Citi for their Mortgage! The only time you Need THEM is when a tragedy occurs, because they get your money due to the insurance payment. They don't care about your loss as a homeowner, and furthermore I kept my word and finished the job. Thus, we are still waiting for our payment! Don't they have a boss? Something needs to be done with this company and their claims department, making a AG complaint!

My family is currently in this same situation...CitiMortgage won't release the check to pay for repairs. Every week they say I will get it on Monday but I don't so i call and their excuse is that something is missing but then minutes later they say, "its complete, you'll get it Monday" but it doesn't come. I've heard this same excuse over and over again.

Also, I mistakenly authorized they take $10. from the check to have it sent back to me via over night delivery but that just seemed to confuse them more. We were told they deposited the check and now have to wait to have a fresh check cut by them. We've realized (in my opinion) that CitiMortgage is after the interest they get per month for having this money in their account...what I mean is...not just the money to pay for my repairs but the money they are holding from everyone in this situation...it adds up.
Thieves?...maybe...I wasn't told I was going to be sent a check plus interest. I paid the contractor out of my pocket because its not fair if they completed the work not to pay. I'm out the interest I could have made having this in my savings account and yes, perhaps its not a lot but one cent that CitiMortgage makes off of the misfortune of others is too much.

Incompetent, uninformed, confused, liars...etc.

I too am being caused a delay being the general contractor. Citi Mortgage decided the cabinet and counter top vendor was my "contractor" and their check will have both my name and their name on it, so the $$ for them is being held hostage for now. the Company wants to be paid, 1 month since complete, but i can't even write them a check or pay them due to both our names are going to be on the check when it is sent from Citi Mortgage...

As a contractor, and this being my first time dealing with CitiMortgage, I can tell you it will be the last. The insurance company paid the claim. Citi has been sitting on the money, and no work has been done on our end resulting in a pregnant woman and her family out of a house for the last three weeks while they keep saying the check is in the mail. I will not be doing any work until the money clears my bank account. I am very happy I made this choice after reading the comments on the site, and many other ones. Citi will not hang my company out to dry, and the first thing I will ask if the situation ever comes up again is? "Who is your Mortgage company?" If It's Citi, my company will walk, and Highly recommend if you are a contractor you do the same. Horrible company! Horrible people!

We have had the exact same experience. When we got the insurance money I called CitiMortgage customer service and got instructions about how to submit our check for their endorsement. They never told me we were supposed to endorse the check, and then mail to Citi. As a result, we had to wait for Citi to mail the check back to us for our endorsement. By that time I had already lined up the contractractor. And then it was weeks before we got any portion of the money. We had to go ahead and front the cash out of our own pocket for our roof repair. Luckily we did have it. We used the contractor recommended by Citi, and they had to have cash at time of completion. Then we had to wait until Citi got around to sending their inspector our to look at the roof before they would release the remaining 50% of our insurance money. I think it's a ploy to use the consumer's money (float time) as long as possible. It should be illegal!

CitiMortgage dishonest

Citimortgage is either an extremely inept company with terrible customer service or thieves. I sent them $30, 000 to apply to my mortgage. they removed the money from my bank account the day they got the check. A month later I got my mortgage payment and no mention of the money I sent. When I called to find out why, they told me to prove I sent the money with a canceled check. After I did, they applied it to my mortgage the day they got my proof, but they kept the months worth of interest I paid on my own money even after I complained. Plus, they charge me $500 to refinance my mortgage but never sent the paper work. That was 2 months ago. I have also applied to have my PMI ended, but they are stalling on that too. I get to pay for more PMI even though I jumped through all of their hoops.
Their customer service is a joke. Good luck getting someone who can speak English and answer a question or fix anything.

I would be in terrible trouble if I was late on a payment, but they seem to do anything they want and get away with it.

CitiMortgage overcharged

I have a second mortgage with these bandits in the amount of $82, 616.49 which I think my wife arranged several years a go. I'm not sure what the beginning amount was, because she paid all the bills. She has recently passed away and now I am paying the bills. The interest rate on this note is 9.9% which is a total scam. My payment is $736.54 of which $48.76 is for principle and the rest is interest. I have tried every way possible to reach Citimortgage without any result. I spent 28 minutes on hold today after which they disconnected me, I also tried their Web site which they say is not working at this time. All I am trying to do is possibly refinancing this note to a more reasonable interest rate. The problem is that they do not respond to any inquires.

CitiMortgage doesn't refi second mortgages, it never has. They only do first.
Your loan was written with another mortgage company and then sold to CitiMortgage.
If you are looking to refi a second mortgage, you'll need to contact their sister company, CitiBank. Under the Citigroup umbrella they're the main ones to contact. or goto CitiBank.com and fill out an application there.

You don't have to refinance with them. Go to a local bank get the money from them and pay off the loan. See how they contact you when they lose all that interest.

CitiMortgage inaccurate mortgage statements

Citimortgage took over our account in June of 2008 from CitiFinancial Mortgage. Since then we have not ben able to get an accurate statement with an ACCURATE principal balance. Repeated calls to customer service has been useless. They give varied reasons for the problems but none make sense and are often conflicting. Have sppoken to supervisors and still no help. Payments are not posted on time. Our payments have specified reduction in principal(including extra principal payments) yet our principal balance remains the same from month to month and I have the statements to prove it. I have repeatedly asked for detailed payment history statements to be mailed to me and even though they assure me they are on the way, they never arrive. They promise everything and deliver nothing. Tired of giving them $1800 of my hard earned money every month with no accounting of where it goes, especially my principal balance. This is not an inaccurate bill for an oil change, it is my home and tens of thousands of dollars!

CitiMortgage insurance payments

I am having so many problems getting my insurance check to do repairs on my home after hurricane ike that I would never recommend citimortgage to anyone trying to get a home financed. I am going to write the city houston chronicle newspaper to do a story of what I have gone through and is still in the process of going though to get my check released to pay my contractor. I have done work to my home and paid for it out of personal funds (Bills money and borrowing it from family and friends) and cannot get money released to reinburse theses people. I have done everything asked of the mortgage company and still everytime I get a different story of why its going to take longer to get money released and this process have ruined the little credit I had and have totally destroyed my life. My next step is to get a lawyer to get my funds released and not recommend this company to anyone. I hope when they close fema they next take steps to close citimortgage. I am going to write everyone I can think of to get this story out.

I am having the same issues with citimortgage that the other horror stories are saying. My roof is not that old and the damage not that severe. Why replace a whole roof when I can wait over 10 years to replace it. The insurance check should be to me only. Citimortgage does not pay my insurance check. When I have break downs around the house like heating and cooling systems, will Citimortgage help pay for them? Of course not but like so many others are staying they are just using the money we as individuals pay the premiums on for their own benefit. I would never recommend them to anyone. What a rip off…What can be done to help with this issue?

I went on line because I called their 800 # to find out what I can do to get my insurance check stamped so I can finish repairing my house after IKE. After several minutes of pressing number in order to speak to a human, I got a recording that said "this line not in service". I've been reading other horror stories and thought this was because of the recent financial institution failures, but I noticed some go back to 2005-6 when Citi bought ABN Amro. What a mess.

CitiMortgage awful company

I am also extremely upset with Citimortgage and would like a class action suite filed. I had the workable solution paperwork filled out for help on a short sale for my home. I had a buyer since April 2008. They would never return phone calls from my lawyer. My lawyer contacted their lawyer and their lawyers couldn't even get a response back from them. My loan was in the HUD department. I could only get to someone in regular loans. I kept getting the run around and different phone numbers to call. My house ended up foreclosing in August of 2008. I found this out about when I called the mortgage company trying to get to the correct department for request on answer of our short sale offer (I didn't believe my lawyer when he said that he couldn't get through to them so I started calling myself). I was then told that my file didn't exist and that it looked like it had been foreclosed on. They couldn't give me any more info because that department didn't handle HUD loans. Their lawyers attempted to contact them via email and by phone several times. They wouldn't even respond to their own lawyers who were encouraging them to except the short sale offer. They wouldn't give them power of attorney to except any offers either. I don't understand how they can get away with all of this. I thought I was doing the right thing by trying to sell my home. Our buyers even had more than half in cash. It just doesn't make sense.

I have Citimortgage, but I pay my own property taxes and I have my own insurance company that I have been dealing with for years. I have never had an escrow account.

I have never had issues with my flood insurance until they decided in July 2008 to send me an insurance policy for excess flood insurance. I contacted my insurance company right away. I have a 30, 000 dollar mortgage, Citimortgage said that I did not have adequate flood insurance, they wanted me to raise my flood insurance 170, 000 more. I am now up to a total of 220, 000 in coverage.

Citimortgage created an escrow acct, which I am still trying to resolve since last year. They keep sending me letters threatening foreclosure if I do not pay on my escrow. This is all due to flood insurance and that the reps there cannot resolve any issues. I am re-routed to India, then they transfer me to someone else. My husband, my insurance company and myself have been on the phone with them constantly telling them that I have adequate insurance. We have faxed them policies, spoken to reps, they keep telling us that it has been corrected and the policy canceled, I will be receiving a confirmation letter. Guess what, I never receive it.

My most recent call was today and the rep says it will be resolved, my insurance company needs to re-fax the policy (the 10th time or more, I lost count). This has not been resolved, I will still be waiting.

This has caused such aggravation in my household that my children are beginning to feel it. They have started to hit our credit, they are charging late payments (which are not late), and we can't forget they are also charging to send an inspector to the home to see if it is vacant. There has to be something that we can do to stop this harassment. It is not fair, everyone is feeling this not just the banks. Hopefully someone can read our letters and resolve these issues before they get worse and more families become homeless.. Thanks for reading.

Citimortgage is not only liars but has ruined my credit and taken away my home which was my retirement investment. I had an ARM which was 5 years and had to refinance the loan. I had a great job, great credit rating and NEVER missed or late on any mortgage payments. When I called Citi to refinance they ran my credit and approved me in less then 5 minutes. The cost would be $250 for an appraisal. I paid over the phone and the appraiser was to call me for an appointment. After 2 weeks, I called Citi and asked when the appraiser was to call me and they said I was denied because the appraisal came in lower then I owed on the home. WHAT? I never got an appraisal. I called CITI 5 times over the next several months to sent my appraisal report and every time they agreed to send it but never did. A few weeks later I get a call from Citi and they ask me if I would like to refinance and would cost only $250 for an appraisal. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I told this story to the CITI employee who put me on hold and came back a minute later saying that my house was appraised but was less than I owe and there wasn't anything they can do for me. I ask for the apprasal be sent to me and he promised and said I should get it within a week. IT NEVER CAME. A month later CITI called to harrass me on my mortgage payments and I told the story again saying I belive CITI took my money with no intentions of giving me a loan. Citi but me on hold and when they returned told me I never had an appraisal on this home nor did they have any record of it. I decided to retired and lose my home to this corupt company which was bailed out by the Goverment. I get harassed at dinner time, late nights and even Sunday mornings asking me when I will repay the money. There is so much more to say but I think you get the picture. This is not a joke.

I ALMOST IN THE SAME SITUATION IN 2008 I MISSED A PAYMENT, BUT I CONTINUED TO MAKE MONTHLY PAYMENTS TO CITIMORTGAGE, AND THEN IN ANOTHER MONTH, WENT THOUGH VERY HARD TIMES I THOUGHT AND SENT IN PARTIAL PAYMENT. BUT CONTINUED TO SEND IN PAYMENTS EVERY MONTH, SO AS I UNDERSTAND THIS I WAS ONLY 1 1/2 MONTHS
THINGS STARTED TO LOOK BETTER FOR MY FINANICAL SITUATION, SO IN SEPT. 2008 I STARTED TO SEND IN ADDITIONAL PAYMENTS IN DEC. 2008 CITMORTGAGE SENT ME A LETTER AND STATED I WAS IN DEFAULT FOR 4 MONTHS. AND THEY WERE GOING TO FORCLOSURE ON MY HOME. AFTER CALLING THEM FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, SPEAKING TO ANYONE WHO WOULD LISTEN HOW COULD YOU GO FROM 1 1/2 MONTHS TO FOUR MONTHS, WELL I FOUND OUT THEY STOP APPLY MY MONEY TO MY ACCOUNT AND PUT INTO UNAPPLIED FUNDS SO THE MONEY WAS JUST SITTING THERE. IT GETS BETTER. THEY STARTED THE FORCLOSURE PROCEDURE AND AFTER SHOWING THEM MONEY WAS TAKEN OUT OF MY CHECKING ACCOUNT. I WAS DIRECTED TO CONTACT SOMEONE IN THE COLLECTION DEPT. WHO TOLD ME TO PAY APPROX. $7K OR TO SELL MY HOME.

WELL THE MONEY IN THE UNAPPLIED FUNDS THEY DECIDED TO TAKE PART OF MY MONEY AND PAY THEIR ATTORNEYS WITH MY MONEY AND DID NOT SAY ANYTHING TO ME, THEN APPLY THE REST OF MY MONEY TO MY LOAN WHICH COMES OUT TO 2 MONTHS. BUT THEY SAY I STILL OWE THE FOR 2 MORE MONTHS WHERE DID ALL MY MONEY GO THE NUMBERS JUST DON'T ADD UP.
BUT THE CONTINUE TO LOOK AT THEIR SCREEN AND READ, NO ONE WILL REALLY LISTEN TO YOU, BUT THEY WILL SURELY MAKE THREATEN PHONE CALLS TO YOU HOME FROM 7:45 IN AM TO 8:45 AT NIGHT. I HAVE TRIED TO ASK FOR LOAN MODIFCATION THEY SAY THEY DON'T HAVE THAT PROGRAM, THEY SEND YOU FORMS YOU FILL THEM OUT AND THEY LOSE THEM AS FAST AS YOU FAX THEM BACK. I HAD CALLED AND ASKED FOR AN UPDATE I WAS TOLD, I WAS DENIED, SO I CALLED RIGHT BACK AND SPOKE WITH SOMEONE WHO INFORMED ME THAT I WAS STILL PENDING. NO ONE NO WHAT GOING ON IN THAT COMPANY

I UNDERSTAND WHY SO MANY CUSTOMERS ARE IN DEFAULT OR FORECLOSURE OF THEIR HOMES WHY DID THE GOVERNMENT BAIL THEM OUT FOR ALL THERE TOP EXEC. TO GO ON VACATION WITH THE BAILOUT MONEY THIS WAS PUT ON THE NEWS AND THE GOVERNMENT CONTINOUS TO STAND BEHIND THEM. WHAT THE GOVERNMENT REALLY NEED TO DO IS LOOK IN TO THEIR ACCOUNTING DEPT TO SEE HOW THEY ENDED UP IN THEIR SITUTION IN THE FIRST PLACE. A CLASS ACTION SOUNDS GREAT TO BAD NO ONE IN THE GOVERNMENT COULD READ THESE COMPLAINTS AND POST THEM ON CNN NEWS FOR THE WORLD TO SEE HOW THEY ARE REALLY TREATING CUSTOMERS.

We have the same thing going on here. Lies, collection calls before 8: AM until just before 9: PM, hateful collections people that make threats and call you horrible names, no response to requests for workable solutions even after being assigned a councelor. After promises that nothing bad would be reported to credit bureau we are totally ruined. We couldn't get credit to buy a coke. Citimortgage bought our mortgage from ABN AMRO and we have had nothing but grief since day one. The company should be done away with and everyone investigated. I guess the next step is for Citimortgage to come in and throw us out. Class action sounds great but the thieving attorneys would get everything and we would get maybe &25.00 if we were lucky.

I agree with you, I made a repayment agreement with CITI back in 11/07, and up to this date have made my payments on time. In the last two months I have been receiving threaten letters and phone calls saying that I’m two month behind on my payments when I have fax them 25 pages showing every payment from 11/07 to 11/08 which clearly show’s that I’m on schedule with these payments, now they keep saying that they never receive the fax. They are crooks and need to be stop. If some one decide to go for the class action please keep me in mind.

CitiMortgage rip off citi!!! they pride on eating you up alive!!!

About a year ago, I was forced to re-finance my home, due to a divorce. I re-financed using abn amro mortgage who later sold my mortgage to citi mortgage.. Because of the market rates, my home appraised very low, causing my equity to be very low.in order to refinance my home, I was told that I had to pay a pmi of approximately $350.00 a month on top of my mortgage payment, which increased my payment to over $1390.00 for a $180, 000.00 dollar loan. By the pmi company is theirs! That was the first big mistake! I set up bi-weekly payments through my bank, who personally spoke with the mortgage representative directly to ensure proper payment. After three months of making payments, I received a letter stating that they had not received a payment in three months and that foreclosure was in my future. I immediately contacted my bank, to find out what had happened. The bank informed me all payments were made and had been posted to my account. When I contacted abn amro, I was told that no payments had been received. I had to fax my bank statement to them, just to prove a point. After careful review of my account, and after speaking to several representatives, the payments were located. I was told that bi-weekly payments are only accepted when I use their company. Problem! In order to use this company, you must pay the $300 and some dollar fee, just to start up and must have at least two payments in order to start! I was told that they had placed the payments into my escrow account, because there was no other place to apply the funds. The mortgage company charged me three months of late fees! Again, after being transferred around, the funds applied to the escrow account were applied to my monthly payments. Then, I was told that I defaulted on my payments, because I started one month later than what was stated on my contract. I eventually caught up with all of their requirements and in december I found out that my escrow balance was low and that I would need to pay an additional $300.00 or so, just to keep my payment the same. So I paid the additional money. Then, the following february I received a letter stating that my I owed over $250.00 in late payment fees. Apparently they forgot to zero me out before the beginning of the year! I then received a letter stating that my mortgage had been sold to citi mortgage!

Citi mortgage! My worst nightmare! In july of this year, I was told that my house payment was going to be increasing to $1410.00 a month, due to property taxes. Oh my god! Ever since the change, I have been struggling to make ends meet. I have contacted citi mortgage, who continually sends me from st. Louis to maryland and then back again, trying to get some help! I receive over twelve calls a day, wanting to know when I am going to make my next payment, even after I have made arrangements with the loss prevention people. They constantly ask me to feel out hardship paperwork, which time and time again I have faxed to them. Each time I speak with them, they deny receiving it. Lesson, anytime you say or do anything with citi mortage, keep a detailed record! Names, times, specifics, etc., it may be your only claim to sanity!

Citi mortgage payment online is also a rip off. The system is set up to receive a payment only if you are not behind. If you owe more than one month, they system shuts you out, causing you to contact the mortgage company directly. So now, on top of being late, you lose out on paying the $10.00 online process fee and are forced to pay the $20.00 live transaction fee! What a scam! Further the online information is not accurate. If you owe late fees, the payment prompt shows you only what your monthly payment is. So you are constantly paying on those late fees. I can no longer afford to make the payments on my home without it affecting my family! I can not believe that companies like this are allowed to take advantage of people in this way! I could use some advice.

Citimortgage is a rip off. I just went to them to refinance our existing loan and Joe Sermo gave me a quote double of what the average mortgage company quoted. they have no work ethic or integrity. I will never do business with them again. i can see why they are in the trouble they are in. I hope to see Joe Sermo and his friends in the unemployment line soon when citmortgage goes under.

Here I am again- writing about Citi-Mortgage. I initially posted this in September 2008 and now in May of 2009, I am about ready to lose my home. They have allowed me to opt into a repayment plan, which increases my payment from $1450.00 to $2055.00 a month. On one income? What are they thinking. If you are reading this.. hopefully it is not to late for you: I believe it is much to late for my seven year old and I. GET OUT while you can! They don't care! They have ruined my credit... I can't even refinance to get out!

I must say, that I am surprised that after this company received money from the government, they are still not willing to help. Obviously, when they gave them money, they didn't read our complaints. Good luck to all of you!

I am only one month behind and they chared me 830 dollars and 220 dollars for processing, So now I have to give them the late payment of 1450 and 1050 in fees and pay my regular mortgage payment. Don't bother asking for help, because they don't give a #@%@#. They have a monopoly and they know it. you are just a number to them.

citi mortgage is a rip off! Due to my husbands illness we are one month behind on the mortgage. After several people on the phone saying they are there to help and will send some paperwork to us, only to not have any resolution and having about 5-7 phone calls a day asking for payment. no one wants to help! We had a choice of paying mortgage or getting my husbands medicine to keep him healthy.. which would you do? we have asked repeatedly for help and now received a letter saying they are going to inspect the outside of our house and charge us to make sure we still live their...Why won't they help ? we are really trying!

It sounds like the problem isn't with the mortgage company.
It sounds like your property taxes keep going up. First dispute with county about the taxes.

Make the payments in a wire transfer from your bank account...same day transaction, no fee.

CitiMortgage how do they stay in business

On June 12th, 2007 I had a house fire in my basement. The basement and all of its contents was totally destroyed along with the upstairs being heavily smoke damaged. The heat made it to the roof and caused a spot in my roof to start leaking. I was dealing with Liberty Mutual Insurance and really thought it was going to be a MAJOR headache. But to my surprize the headache came from my mortgage company which was Citi Mortgage. #1 I had re-financed a year or two earlier just to have my mortgage sold to citi...which I would have NEVER wanted. I have had payment problems, ever since the start with them loosing my payment, saying it had not made it, etc etc. My point is I have enough problems on my own making payments and not screwing up my credit without their help! Anyway, the check came and it was made to me and Citi mortgage. I endorsed the check and sent it to them as they asked. Let me back up. Between the insurance company and Citi, I was told it may be 30 to 45 days before I would have the money to start working on the house. Citi however told me that if I wanted to use my own money, or put it on a credit card that "as long as I kept good receipts" they would send me my money with the first construction draft. This was the first lie that was told to me. I used my savings, and kept good receipts and was not finished, but back in my house in less than 3 weeks. Of course when it was time for me to get my money they told me that I could not get that money until the end and the house was totally finished. Well I stuck it out, robbing peter to pay paul for a year and then on my last inspection they informed me that instead of the 75 to 80% complete it had to be close to 100% complete for me to get my next draft. My question was how am I going to get it that far if I dont have any money...And their answer was to us a credit card or something. Needless to say, no one really cares. They just want their money and nobody know what is going on with the other side. If at all possible NEVER use this company for anything and please pass the word. It is September 19th and I still dont have my money and my house still isnt finished. So I have not had any saving for over a year. I am behind on a bunch of things including my house payment and they are sitting on my money.

Yup, that's citimortgage for ya. Our house caught fire, the check was sent to citimortgate as the insurance company signs it to both the owner and the lender. Citimortgage then disburses the check in equal amounts of 3, so you get 1 check at the beginning, another check once you are 50% or so complete with the construction and we self contracted and thank God we did because Citimortgage expects you to have your house 95%-100% COMPLETE BEFORE they release the last check! That makes no sense! It took 1 month to get our first check after calling at least 3 times a week asking where it was at. We finally got it and they signed it off to me AND the company who took our clothes to get dry cleaned because of the smoke! How does that make any sense! Needless to say, they have no idea how that happen, a week later we got another check. We asked for our 2nd check and again, you have to send receipts that add up to the amount of your first check, and so we did. Again, it took 1 month for us to get our check as we had to keep calling and every time it was something new that they had never mentioned! Whether it was to have the contractor sign off on the receipts with their number and it takes 2 days to process or send copies of the cashed checks as well and wait another 2 days to process, or that our check hadn't been approved, or that it had been approved but it takes 7 days to release it, or that it was mailed but we never received it and had to call back, etc. etc. Now, we are waiting for our last check and I am not looking forward to it. Let's see what other excuse they have!
Thank GOD we self contracted because we saved a ton of money and didn't really have to use any out of pocket money to complete it. Citimortgage likes to hang on to that money as loooooong as possible so if you are in this situation, please keep calling! They HAVE to release the funds, it's your money! Or call and speak to their supervisor, we had to do that in order for them to release our second check.

CitiMortgage absolutely no customer service available!

Unbeleivably frustrated with CitiMortgage and want to complain...anyone know the federal agency to direct our complaints?
How can we implement a tax exemption award if CitiMortgage (INDIA) refuses to take responsibility and handle our request.

My husband is 100% Disabled Veteran and was qualified by the state of PA and the City and County of Philadelphia for retroactive realestate tax exemption (back to Sept 07), but we can't get the tax department at CitiMortgage to talk with us to reduce the Monthly payment and have our '09 escrow tax refunded. Please advise...

I have a rent house that we finance through citimortage. We have had the same renter in that house for over three years, always pays on time, which is a miracle if you've ever had to be a landlord. Due to an illness we fell three months behind on our payments, so we chose to do a repayment plan. As part of that citi would send someone every so often to check on the house and take pics to make sure it was maintained. On one of these occasions our renter spotted the agent sent from citimortage and asked her why she was taking pics and she said, "Honey save your rent this house is about to go into foreclosure." Which completely freaked our tenant out, and as much as I have reassured her we are making payments on our plan on time she has decided to move, and not pay in the meantime in order to save her money, which makes it difficult for us to make the payment. I believe the agent violated a privacy law, not to mention false information as we are not behind in our payments and so the property is not in foreclosure. Very unprofessional. I called citimortgage and told this to FIVE different people and basically was told it was an issue between our tenant and myself. I want to make citimortgage and their agent be accountable for their actions, so I have sought legal advice and I'll see how far that gets me.

If you want to speak to an American CitiMortgage representative, simply ask for one, they have two call centers located in the US.

As far as your husband's tax exemption, you will need something from the taxing authority you're under that shows a dollar amount, indicating zero dollars are due for your next tax installment. Nothing less than a real, true number dollar amount will suffice. Don't send the information to their "tax department", which is a third party tax servicing company called First American. Instead, either mail or fax to their Account Inquiries department, your escrow adjustment and refund check will come much sooner.

Citimortgage is impossible to deal with. They call constantly but when I call the number back, they hang up. (This happened 7 times in a row one day.) They supposedly did something with my mortgage that was supposed to help me. I had a letter saying what days to pay - they gave the actual dates. Then, later, they said they received a payment one day late and the whole deal was off and I owed all the money at once. I don't really know what's going to happen.

CitiMortgage very incompetent

I have been trying to get Citimortgage to correct my credit report for FIVE YEARS now!

It is incorrectly reported on my credit report that my house is foreclosed with a zero balance with no payment received since 2003. Yet, I AM making my monthly payment of $1260.00.

I have repeatedly faxed them copies of my credit report and proof of payments. This has been disputed for numerous times and each time they tell me that it will be corrected and it has not been yet. When I call they act like it's no big deal and usually the customer service rep hangs up on me.

How can I receive a monthly statement with all the correct information on it but they can't report the same information. I spoke to a manager today who said that by looking at my file Citimortgage has not even reported to the credit agencies since 2006 regarding my account. Citimortgage is a joke...

You don't call the company for the disputes, on the credit report.
You need to contact the credit reporting companies, they'll fix it. EQUIFAX, EXPERIAN, TRANSUNION.

my second complaint but not my last. i called to find out the protocal for handling an insurance check. i was told to endorce it and overnight it to them (which i did the cost being 14.00 to do it) with letters from my contractor. I have spoke with several different people some names are amanda hebble, mark, jean harvon, raymond, edith and others i have forgotten. while speaking with these people and not getting any satisfaction i asked to speak to a supervisor which i was refused. Can you believe they refised to let me hold for or even speak to one. If i could get my loan away from CITIMORGAGE i would. I stated repairs on my home with my own money, so my roof would stop leaking and my personal property from getting wet and now i cannot get any money released to replace this or get the other repairs done that is needed even though they have the insurance check that have been cleared with the bank.Customer care with CITIMORTGAGE at a time of need is non existing. Everytime i call CITIMORTGAGE my ulsers start acting up and i start throwing up. I would like the Federal agency's name where complaints of this nature can be voiced. I also have been dealing with them trying to correct incorrectly reported information on my credit report that my house is foreclosed on. How can it be foreclosed on and they have received at lease 4 years of payments since it was first repoted incorrectly. I NEED SOMEONE TO HELP ME> i even lost my temper and used a ugly word, which i do apolgize for, but i apolize for nothing else

On March 8, 2008 2 trees hit my home. Citibank is holding the funds from the insurance co. to fix our home. Getting them to release funds to do the repairs is time consuming and frustrating. Every time I need a check to pay a contractor it takes weeks to get funds, I was told it takes 3 - 5 business days, but that is not what has happened. First, I was told...

CitiMortgage mortgage payoff

I have been attempting to payoff my home with Citimortgage since June 2, 2008. It is now July 28th and I still have not received a refund check from them. I first called in to request a payoff on May 28th 2008 due to my home being destroyed by a tornado on May 25th 2008. The faxed me a payoff on May 28th good until July 1st - because it takes 30 days to pay a mortgage off - funny thing is it takes them one day to clear the payment! I sent my check off on June 2nd, requesting any refunds or return items to be mailed to my new address...well they returned my 'PAYOFFcheck, the check I sent them, to me at my old address - which sat there for 5 days until I finally called Citimortgage to check on my status and they told me what they had done. So I went to my old hometown and picked up my check at the City Hall - where all of the undeliverable packages were going. I then returned it to Citimortgage requesting a payoff again - this time as of August 1st because it was July 1st already. I then called them weekly checking on the status. Well - IRONICALLY on July 2nd I also signed a new mortgage with Citimortgage for my new home - they applied my payoff check to that loan! So when I called in and found that out I was furious and told them they should fix it, payoff the correct loan as of the date they received the check (which was supposedly July 10th). This was July 17th and I talked to a man that said the loan would be paid off as of July 10th and I would receive my 'refund' check - it would be sent out no later than July 21. I called back on July 28th and asked about the status and they said my loan was paid in full as of July 17th and my refund check was to be mailed on August 3rd - I told them they were wrong and I was not paying interest from July 10-July17. And I requested my check to be sent overnight ASAP - she could only promise me it would go out the third overnight. Today is July 28th and we will see how this plays out - Citimortgage is by far the WORST company I have ever dealt with and has the WORST customer service in any industry PERIOD! They are out to screw you out of every penny they can. As soon as I can justifiably switch mortgage companies - it is happening and I will NEVER recommend or support in any way any of my customers to place their mortgage with Citimortgage.

Does the world know what is going on with this company. We put our house on the market one year ago and bought another home and moved into it thinking the home would sell soon due to its location. Then the world in the housing market went crazy. We were employed in the housing industry and found out in Feb. of 09 we were loosing our jobs in March of 09. We started calling Citi mortgage in Feb. 09 knowing we would be out of money by June if we did not find jobs. We always ended up with someone in India you could not understand and since we were not delinquent nothing could be done. Well June got here and we were correct if no job no money. We didn't make our June payment. The calls started, 13 in one day from India alone, but we thought maybe our prayers were answered when we got a signed offer on the house. The offer was $4000.00 off from covering the pay off of the mortgage. We are now into our 2nd mo of trying to get an answer of some sort to close this deal but citi mortgage would rather fore close on the loan than to take a short pay of $4000.00. We have one of the highest unemployment rates in the country in our area. We are fifth in the country on foreclosures. Houses in our market are selling at 65 cents on the dollar or less and when they get this house back they will loose at least 50 to 60 thousand dollars on this home.
Someone needs to let the world know what is going on and how these companies are just pi___ng the money away. I guess when the government gives you billions no-one cares what you do with it or how you care for it. If I told the goverment that I miss handled my money and made some real stupid mistakes they would send me 3 million dollars so I could continue to be stupid and keep Pi__ing the money away. No they will not. I will have to file Bankruptcy loose everything I've got and start over. What is really wild about the whole thing is I'm 57 years old been working since I was 11 and I have never in my life made a late payment. Thanks to a few greedy companies and a government that is wanting everyone on the same level { the bottom} and Citi Bank

For three months I have been trying to drop the PMI on my Citimortgage account. They make it near impossible because everytime I send the form with the proven criteria and option choice, they never get it. Most of the time I get to talk to friendly far away individuals that cant help or understand my standard-american accent. It is my third and final attempt by mail, and 10 different phone calls. The only thing I can do is switch companies if they dont meet my needsand the interest rate is right. These greedy corrupt banks dont need a bailout, they need a plague that consumes fecal matter.

Just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I hope that you have this resolved now.

I have had a ton of problems with Citimortgage. Every time I would try and put extra money on my principal they would credit the next month's payment instead, even when I wrote on the check PRINCIPAL ONLY in florescent ink. Then they would delay crediting my account for a week after I wasted huge amounts of time trying to talk to someone on customer support.

I am about to pay off my loan next month and I am sure it is going to be a huge hassle. Customer service is amongst the worst I have ever seen. I cannot wait to wave goodbye to having to deal with this company. I wish that Mortgage companies were not allowed to sell their loans. That is how I ended up with Citi. I HIGHLY recommend if you have a choice to steer clear of them.

I agree with everyone on this comment board and I am so sorry to hear about all the trouble that you are all having. This is the reason I started my company. I have helped several people that have mortgages with ASC, Countrywide, and other mortgage companies that don't seem to care if they harass people or suck them dry. The comments I have heard are along the lines of trying to get blood from a stone or turnip, or something like that.

Contrary to what some people have said on here, I am not trying to be one of those people I mentioned above. My company is a nationwide company that provides services for people that are at the end of their rope. One of the helpful things that we provide is letting you know, before payment for service, if we can assist you and if we can not. If we can not, we tell you why not and what can be done to allow our company to assist you. Most companies won't do that, but we will also give you the reasons why exactly so that, if you should choose a different service, they will not be able to scam you. Now that's a way of saving money too.

I have a service that actually will take you out of the loop of contact with ASC, or Countrywide or whomever you have servicing your loan. All you have to do is tell me how we can help you. By that I mean, tell us what you are looking for us to do for you and we will pursue the help that you want, no matter what. We have all aspects of the mortgage business covered from being a mortgage mediation company, a title company, a real estate company, all the way to having access to attorneys for litigation or help to avoid foreclosure. No aspect of help is turned away.

Let me tell you, most of the customers that I deal with have told me about the fear and the frustration of working with mortgage companies that don't seem to care or give them the runaround. To be totally fair, mortgage companies have their ways of dealing with people. Some are good, some are horrible. But one thing all mortgage companies love is being vague. When they are vague, they don't have to give you information until you ASK for it. How does that help you? How can you try to save your home if you don't know how to ask the right questions?

That’s another reason why I created this company. I take your number out of their "system". When they mail you something, it goes to me. I take the burden away from you so you can live your life without the phone calls and the letters. And the rudeness! Oh, man, if I told you some of the stories I have heard...let's just say, it’s not pretty.

I know that some people are going to look at this comment and go, this guy is trying to drum up business. Well, you're right. But here's the kicker. I used to work in mortgage collections. I used to make the phone calls and send the letters. I used to work around the people that make your lives hell. And I kept asking myself, why? Why are these people not being told about the help that’s readily available? Why are these people not being helped to make payment arrangements that are realistic? Why does this company care more about the money than about customer service when that is supposed to be their primary objective?

That's why I got out. I can not stand collections. Just because they are hiding behind a company name they think that they can say anything or act anyway they like with the customers, being friendly with one and the next 40-50 they can treat like crap. Where is the customer service?

I take all that frustration away from you and create solutions that work. I know that it may be hard to swallow, but I do. I have done it for several people. And I can do it for you too. If you want more specifics or just want to talk to me, call my office at [protected] and check out the website, which is being updated with a few new options available. And this isn't just for people facing foreclosure, people that are current and want to pay off their home early, call me. I can and will help as many people as I am able to. What have you got to lose? Website address is http://www.onlybusiness.com/members/RealtyMediationService. Or send an e-mail with a number to reach you and a good time to call...and if not for you, best of luck. In all your endeavors.

We are fighting with them too. Do you know that they actually put the wrong zip code on the Delaware
payment address. Our mortgage check has been lost somewhere in their system not cashed luckily but
in trying to deal with this all, I was put on hold, disconnected, unable to talk to anyone but voice mail when customer service had just spoken to someone in charge themselves. YES THEY HAVE THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND TREAT YOU LIKE SOME LOSER WHO IS TRYING TO WORM OUT OF PAYING WHEN WE PAID EARLY every month for the last 5 years.

CitiMortgage Citimortgage.com

I will make this brief. Citimortage, like many financial institutions is squeezing its customers for online transactions. As most you know, companies are leveraging the internet for online transactions and saving on overall cost of doing business. Citimortage unfortunately does not feel as if it is saving enough because it has decided to penalize its customers $10 when making a mortgage payments online. Obviously, this is a small matter for the EXECS who are lining their wallets with the profits, however, it adds to the big PINCH Americans are feeling in their wallets. Add Citimortage to the problem list.

Ya really, if you really want to use the service of your mortgage company to make a payment for your needs instead of writing a check, and you dont think they should charge you a fee?
