I have been a customer at Cosco in Sudbury since 2007. August 18, 2013, I purchased $265.91. I gave the clerk at till 2 my Indian Statis Card.. At first my husband gave his Cosco card and I gave my Indian Statis card. The Clerk was loud and snotty. She said if I use my Statis card then I have to have the membership. Okay that was fair so I gave her my Cosco membership. When we went to pay my husband produced his debit card. The clerk asked if we had a joint account and we said no, my husband pays all the bills. She said if we did not have a joint account then the statis card is rejected.
My Reserve, Wabigoon, did not say that we needed a joint account if we were married in order to use the Statis card. I used this card on the reserve all the time. I have done this at Cosco several times, why the insulting change? Since when did Cosco Staff start getting involved in their customers financial and banking affairs? Where does it say if you are a Statis Indian and married that your Husband cannot pay your bill unless you have a joint account.
This clerk # 2 (Mary Ann), embarassed me and my husband in front of a full line of customers. I was humiliated and discriminated because I had an Indian Statis Card. The Government has stated that we are not to be refused. This clerk was looking for excuses to refuse the statis card.
I am looking for a tax rebate on the $266.91 and an apology from Mary Ann to me for embarrassing me and to my husband because he did not have a card.
There are many many people looking for work. If Mary Ann is not wanting to help her customers, then maybe this is not the job for her. Staff like Mary Ann, at REG#2 that give Cosco a bad name and we don't want to go back.
I have to drive two hours from where I live to go to Cosco so this treatment insulted me and my effort it took for us to ride a two hour ride on our Motorcycles
