I purchased this home new in Dec 2006, $300, 00.00 within three months the carpet began to split and flatten. I had to fight with every person up to Mr. Weekley himself. Finally I was told that the carpet would be replaced By # 3 guy, Gene Swang. I was asked to purchase the carpet and they would reimburse me upon installation. I only received half of the money and they would not pay the full amount as promised. Now 2/10/2011, I have several broken tiles from stress fracture due to the foundation along with this The ceiling above is cracked as well as the same adjoining wall. The "Senior Warranty Manager, Janelle Laine, that just left my house admitted that their was a crack in the foundation but did not feel it was significant enough to warranty it. (what)? She also stated that Weekley is not responsible for the cracked tiles because the tile is only warrantied for 1 year. She blames all those broken tiles on
" being brittle" what a coincidence that they are all in line with the crack in the foundation. She stated she would senf "their" enginerr out to look at it. I highly reccomend that anyone that has purchased a Weekly home and are still in your first year of full warranty. Pay for the insection top to bottom. that inspection saved me about $30, 000 in code violations that I would have had to pay for. This is not a reputible company any longer. Be aware of this company. My past homes were Weekley homes and they were AWESOME then. What happened to the quality and care that was once priority.

I happened onto this comment by chance but did take the time to read and respond.
I have nothing to gain or lose with my remarks as I don’t work for DWH and I don’t know the complainer or any details of this but for what I’ve just read.
I am a Realtor and have sold MANY new homes built by many of the local/national home builders. I have sold many DW homes and currently live in one.
I know Janelle and I know Gene. I’ve known them both for years. They both love God. They are both grounded in principles like, honesty, fairness, decency. Doing the right thing is all they know. Your comments suggest that when your “problems” were brought to the attention of DW Homes, everyone you talked to mysteriously forgot who they are, who they work for, who they serve and all the principles that had guided up to that moment? That makes no sense at all.
The carpet began to “split and flatten” 3 months after installation? Assumptions are risky but I would bet an accurate translation may be, after 3 months you decided you wanted different more expensive flooring and expected DW homes to pay for it. I don’t factually know this, but this I do know, Gene wouldn’t promise to do something and then not do it.
It would have been much easier for me to have simply read this nonsense and said nothing. I’m simply trying to remain true to not skipping past “cheap internet slander” and standing up to bullies. I know this company and I know the people that are being falsely characterized by these comments. More to the point, these are flat out lies. You should be ashamed of yourself for purposely stating untruths. Your ulterior motives are thin veiled and childish. You could amend your remarks with the truth? Or not.
David Weekley Homes is a wonderful company. The above is my opinion not thiers.

Wow. I am just seeing this comment and I must respond. I built a house in North Carolina with David Weekley 13 years ago and I must say it was one of the biggest and costliest mistakes of my life. I am getting ready to try to sell my house and the thought of a buyer inspection keeps me up at night. I have never been as misled and flat out lied to by anyone as I have been by this company. I caution anyone out there to not make the mistake I did by building a David Weekley home.

We bought our home in Lake Forest Sanford four years ago. The home was built in 2004. We are having some of the same issues. My biggest complaint is not the erosion in the back yard, our uneven foundation or the uninsulated attic. Our roof basically caved in in our garage. Water spots have appeared throughout the house. We had three different roofers inspect the roof. They all said the same thing. The tile is laying on top of particle board. There is nothing between. Also, the gutters are missing pieces and that caused water to return inside the house. Every house he built on my street has had problems with their roof.

Had my fair share of issues but decided to take care of them myself over the years. I bought a new home from David Weekly in 2011. The design was nice and mostly trouble free. I would have opted for an AC unit other than a Lennox which bite the dust after 5 years. SO to my latest issue, poorly poured concrete driveway. Mine looks like all the sand that they used is coming out of it, and I have had cracks in spots where they apparently poured over the framing spikes (So it should be a six inch slab but instead in these spots I got 1" of concrete covering a 5" stake and the corner naturally cracked off and washed away. The photo below speaks for itself. Question now is where else in my driveway and other concrete pours did the DW appointed contractors leave the stakes in and what other parts of my drive will have ends cracking off and washing away.

I do want to say that we worked with Janelle in the past and she is very nice and helpful. I find it hard to believe the previous homeowner based on our experiences. But one needs to be persistent sometimes a well. I hope DW will stand by their product and help me resolve the repair of my driveway. Will let all know how it went!
