Stay away from this company! They are under investigation by the NC State Contractors Board and NC Electrical Board currently, and to no surprise as this isn’t the first time. They do subpar work, fail to meet code and have moral and integrity issues to say the least. Save yourself the headache and run now. Same applies for Ace Solar, Stone Integral Solutions, Designer Pools by Ace & Premier Outside Wilmington, Fayetteville & Charlotte (the latter 3 are “closed” but Google reviews can still be found ) as they are owned by Mr Stone despite not having a contractors license himself. Don’t let ratings fool you. They have family, friends and coworkers leave reviews to try to boost their rating. These crooks owe homeowners and their employees money. $100k pool contracts and people are out of their $ and workers unpaid. Feel free to reach out, I have all the documentation one should need to support my claim. This doesn’t end here but if I can stop one person from dealing with these people who are so full of deceit, I will have saved someone loss of both time, money and peace of mind. It’s far from over but a review is part of my mission to ensure they never rob someone else again.

UPDATE, 4/17/24 in the afternoon: We posted the review below this morning on 4/17/24. We later received a text from one of their team members threatening to cancel our contract unless we removed the review. We refused to delete the review, so they said they will cancel the contract and do a "partial" refund (we'll see how much money they decide to keep - I will update). We are not complainers, but please do yourself a favor and stay away from this company if you're searching for a reliable pool builder.

This is purely based on our experience with their service during the sales process and after signing / paying. Not a reflection of the pool quality as the construction has not started. If the experience changes / improves, we will be sure to update this as the pool is built.

My experience with Designer Pools By Ace has been extremely disappointing. Despite the initial excitement about getting a new swimming pool, the reality has been far from what was promised during the sales process. The owner set unrealistic expectations, leading to frustration and disappointment. Their Regional Manager has been helping us and doing what she can to speed up the process, but she was put in a tough spot from the beginning due to the misleading claims made by the owner regarding timing and delivery.

Moreover, once the contract was signed and payment was made, communication became scarce, and professionalism plummeted. There have been delays, lack of updates, and a general disregard for customer satisfaction.

I would caution anyone considering this company to proceed with extreme caution, as my experience has left me with a sense of regret and dissatisfaction.

Dont use this company if you want a pool put in. They were good to work with when we were planning and signing the papers. But now that the pool's been in the ground for 6 weeks, they only come by once a week to work on it. I emailed the owners but they didn't answer. *** and *** don't know what's going on and they keep saying different things. I think I might have to sue them.

This pool company, Designer Pools by Ace, has been nothing but a disappointment. They messed up my yard, which used to be flat, and put the controls on the wrong side of my house. They told me to find someone to install the gas line, and kept saying someone would fix the jets during the install, but then said they forgot. They even had the nerve to say that because I'm black, the court won't listen to me. They installed the wrong equipment for the hot tub, and the county inspector wouldn't pass it until it was fixed. As a soldier who has been through 7 tours of war, it's heartbreaking to be treated like this. They said they provided training, but the guy they sent out didn't even know what a pool vacuum was. Please help me.

We hired Craig from Designer Pools by Ace to put in our pool and he said it would be done by July 4th, but it didn't start until August and wasn't finished until September. We already gave him most of the money before the pool was installed. The contract said "white" concrete, but they didn't do white and picked a different color without telling us. Craig promised to fix our cracked coupling and have the pool ready to swim in, but the pool cleaner guy didn't know anything and we had to buy salt for the pool ourselves. They left our step ladder on the ground and didn't install it, and our Polaris didn't work because of plumbing issues. We never got our manual vacuum or remote for the lights we paid extra for. They filled the pool too fast and caused a hole in the side wall that cost us more money to fix. They wouldn't show us the warranties until they got all their money. The pool had trash in it and they threw concrete and rocks in it. They wouldn't take off our receipts for backfill dirt even though we were told to buy it from the foreman. There were more problems too.
