Dear Diamond Jewelry United
Attn: Steven Grunhut
I purchased this ring on May 04, 2012 through eBay Item #[protected] . You described it as a VS2, white gold. My fiancé was complaining that the diamond looked cloudy and the white gold was wearing off and was showing yellow. I had a Jeweler look at the ring (Andrews Jewelers, Anthem, AZ 85086 on 12/11/2012) and he said the ring was stretched when re-sizing as opposed to cutting and soldering and the gold was not touched up and it was very narrow at the bottom which will cause twisting. Additionally, you advertised the ring as a VS2/SI1 which is what my appraisal states. My Jeweler says this diamond is an "I" at best. I looked in the microscope and you can see black specs, air bobbles throughout the diamond, very cloudy. This is not what I bought. I want a full refund or replaced with the merchandise I ordered and that was shown in the eBay auction. I will report your company to the appropriate jurisdictions as well as eBay and the blogs if this not reconciled. I am extremely dissatisfied and was totally embarrassed in front of my Fiancé as she was present when the jeweler told us. As far as I am concerned this was a fraudulent transaction which means return policies do not apply and will be reported as such if this is not resolved quickly and to my satisfaction.
DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE THAT I DID! DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
We Too bought a ring of them and it was graded as a E/SV2 the gold was advertised as 2.4gm when we got the ring the whole ring weighed 2.6gms and the diamond was very very bad would rate it as an I1 to I3 there was a brown burn mark about 3mm.. they sell there rings with misleading adverting.. this should not be allowed. It leave customers with so much disappointment, , and engagement is a big event in someone life.. I agree with you.. I too am a victum. but luckly only had the ring for a day and it was sent straight back and refund was actioned.
Hi Lizzi,
I responded a while back to this review but for some reason it is gone.
At the time we noticed that there was an issue with your order and wanted to resolve it either by refund or offering a replacement.
You opted for a full refund, which we respected as you mention.
I hope you did eventually find the diamond that was right for you.
Diamond was sold as VS. Diamond basically deteriorated. Massive feather cracked it almost in half, bright neon streaks become present.
Seller would not refund as requested.
Noticed the review on another site as well.
As explained to you previously
The treatment in the diamond does not deteriorate on its own.
We mention that if you have work done to the jewel piece, you have to ensure that the diamond does not come in direct contact with 1000 degrees of heat.
Unfortunately, if that happens, the treatment can be reversed.
Good news is, that many labs in the US offer to restore the Clarity Enhancement for a minimal fee as this is a fast and easy procedure.
Shet thia company a lie im in same situacion i buy from them E vs 2 earrings and they send me really bad this bot even si its I Clarity also they sertificat fake lie all.i was pay duty tex i will report to london police or interpol if u are not will connect me and not return my money
Sorry, but the certificate was not fake and sent you a website were you could have verified it online.
Also you contacted us months after your return policy expired.
We also asked for proof from an independent gemologist to back up your claim regarding the clarity, so that we could assist you further, despite the return policy expiring.
We had not heard from you further so considered this matter closed.
This company is committing fraud. They are diamond jewelry United Steven gurhunt. They have a contract with big companies but I don't know how. What they sent was a big brown rock. I thought it was a brown topaz. Look at it next to my own ok quality h si1 diamond. This guy has a lot of computer knowledge and he uses his programming skills to hide bad reviews. He's from Sweden and a swindler. I mean look at this ugly thing. Ladies don't buy from this guy you'll be disappointed. All I see all over craigslist are his ugly diamonds...
I was lucky to get a refund but I'm still out money for sizing The sizing was lopsided and looked funny.
God bless anyone who see's this and doesn't get scammed. I had to post this before the holidays. It's just not fair.
I have noticed this review on several sites with the same picture.
A few points.
You purchased a diamonds that was certified and described a "Brown", not sure what you expected.
And as you mentioned, we allowed the item to be returned to us for a full refund despite your error.
Secondly, we are not from Sweden.
Finally, although i appreciate your compliment regarding our computer hacking skills, however i have to tell you that we have no experience in hacking nor do we have the power to remove reviews, or we would have done something about this misleading review.
This company is fraudulent! I bought a diamond to replace the one I lost in a move. The jeweler I took it to after one of the side diamonds fell out told me it was completely "shattered". The diamond was very low quality and would likely break if reset. The company was contacted and nothing was done! Do not buy from them! You will only be disappointed!
Firstly, sorry that you felt you had to share this experience.
We always put our customers satisfaction first.
However, we did not find any purchase on our database from a Donna Eileen ever having been placed with us.
If there was an issue we would love to help.
If you read this, please contact us through our website.
Absolute garbage. Even for the price not worth it. Even their VVS2 graded diamonds are I1 by any reputable lab. I had a VS2 as well which was I3+, one of the worst stones a reputable jeweler has ever seen. The color grades are 5-6 off. The F-graded diamond I bought was a J and the G-H was infact O-P.
So when you think you got a deal 1 carat f-vs2. remember its actually an enhanced I-clarity of M or worse color. Not worth any money. Plus their settings are dainty, cheap and will warp very easily.
They get plenty of negative feedback on ebay but somehow it's erased.
All our diamonds are independently graded by a diamond laboratory as the certificate you would have received with a purchase would show.
I cannot comment on your purchase as your username "Dan899", does not identify your purchase with us, or any purchase you have made.
If you wish to contact us and tell us who you are, we would be here to help, otherwise there is absolutely nothing we can do to assist you further.
Just one bit of parting advice.
Rather than go to a jeweller, perhaps take it to an independent gemologist, one that does not buy or sell diamonds, as we suggest on our site, rather than someone that might be looking to make a sale of their own.
You told me the same thing after my jeweller gave the ring I bought from you a much lower grade than you had at. So I took it to a certified gemologist and his report was even worse than the jewellers! You sell diamonds with ratings and grades claiming to be much higher than they actually are. My geomolgists report said that the person that provided your assessment of the ring either didn't know what they were doing or were being purposely misleading!
These are frauds! Garbage.
Their trick for good feedback is the way they accept returns. If you return as "item not as described" then they tell you it will take much longer to refund your money where if you list it as "changed mind" the refund is faster. Hence, every one give good feedback with the return.
they legally use their own grading system, as do so many outside the USA (and some from USA too). As long as they do not say by GIA standards.
By GIA (Gemological Institute of America, the nonprofit corporation world standard) the clarity grading is rather clear to understand (although opinion of the individual grader may make slight differences but should not be great differences), grade I (1, 2 or 3) means inclusion can be seen with the unaided eye (no loop or magnification). ANY other grade will require magnification to see ANYTHING!. None of the stones I have seen from this company will pass beyond I1 clarity.
Beware!
The buyer contacted us 7 months after the purchase which was 6 months past the return period.
We did offer they send it back for our inspection and we can work on a replacement if there was something wrong but could not offer a refund after the item was worn for 7 months.
Your diamond is colorless, so no grading standards would provide an I color which has a visible yellow tint.
In addition, you mention you took it to Andrews Jewelers. This is not a gemologist but a jewelry salesman, and my guess is that he was trying to sell you a diamond.
The diamond we sold had a great sparkle and did not have the terrible imperfections you mentioned, in fact it was independently graded and certified by a respectable lab as a VS2-SI1 clarity as listed.
You mentioned you needed a loupe to see the imperfections, this means the diamond was eye clean and although all diamonds have flaws visible by loupe, the fact that you had the diamond in your possession for 7 months and could not spot any flaws or cloudiness by the naked eye, shows that you purchased a eye clean sparkling diamond which warrants the VS2-SI1 grade.
You also forgot to mention, the diamond weighs 1.14 carat and you paid a relative very low price of 935 USD.
We wanted to help and of course if you would have contacted us within the 30 day return or even 60 days, we would have allowed the item to be returned for no reason at all.
Our reviews are very good on ebay and have a 99.9% positive feedback for a reason.
These guys are crooks and liars, eBay doesn't seem to care about it though. Do not buy from Diamond Jewelry United, you will get an piece of garbage that belongs in the trash.
ebay have very strict rules in place as to what they consider fraudulent seller and are dealt with swiftly.
Over 11000 postive feedback on one account and 3000 + on another account with a 100% feedback record on both profiles (at the time of writing this post), is proof we are not "crooks and liars".
We would appreciate if you would post your name so we could see if you are indeed a customer.
I have proof otherwise from a gemologist stating that you are either untrained in grading diamonds or are indeed a liar! And from what I find in different forums such as this, I'm not the only one saying so.
DO NOT BUY from Diamond Jewelry United - They are not selling the item that is listed. What you receive after purchase is very low quality with a FAKE "GIE" (not GIA) Report!. Beware, especially during the holidays!
Never described item as a GIA certified diamond.
We made that very clear.
GIE is an independent diamond lab which is not affiliated with GIA.
2015- I purchased a 1.59 ct diamond through Ebay under the name Diamond Jewelry United. I too, was taken by this thief. In fact, I purchased 2 diamonds.
1 was the 1.59 ct (VS whatever) it was supposed to be a near perfect stone. I did do some research on clarity enhanced diamond's and thought it would still make a great investment. I had the ring appraised through GIA certification recently as I felt GIE was illegitimate when selling to buyer's in the United States. I was told the following: The center diamond has a large fault that was treated with a filler to improve the clarity and that the diamond was drilled in numerous locations and filled yet again with some sort of enhancer. The majority of the diamond is filled with this treatment leaving it impossible to grade it. I was told the tiny stones on the side and the gold band may fetch $500.00 at auction but the price of the center stone cannot be determined as it has been severely altered. 2) I purchased a 3/4 ct solitaire engagement ring as well and the same issue. In addition, I never received the "GIE" appraisal for this ring. Oh, and to add insult to injury, I paid over $200.00 to FedEx for customs fees as this thief makes sure to declare the purchase (even though the value is $0) I spent near 3k for a diamond that can't even be graded as "fake". Just run if you see this name anywhere - DIAMOND JEWELRY UNITED_
Firstly GIE is NOT "illegitimate ", it is an independent laboratory that grade diamonds and their website is www.gielab.com. We also never garded them as GIA diamonds, also, GIA dont issue certificates for Clarity Enhanced diamonds, but GIE do.
The diamonds DO have natural flaws as do all diamonds, and they were treated, as mentioned on the listing on 3 separate occasions, including an explanation of how diamonds are treated.
It is not impossible to grade the diamond, as the grading given (again as explained on the listing) was that after treatment.
If you wanted a non treated diamond with a GIA certificate, you would have needed to pay 6 times what you paid for your item.
Import taxes are also charged for all sellers but are refunded if you return the diamond ring.
For some reason, you decided not to contact us or return the items to us.
The point is, they say the reason they sell them for much less is because they have basically cut out the middle men, they go from finding the diamonds in the mines to cutting etc. they entire process is run by them, other places that sell diamonds are upcharging 300 400 percent, that actually diamonds aren't the value as others tell you they are, thus, the reason theirs sell for less... they have all the right answers, it makes you think interesting, I suppose it still could be true, plus, if you don't know that some of the negative reviews are erased, how are you to know, regardless, I was still in the frame of mind if it sounds too good to be true, listen to your gut, anyway I did some more research and found these reviews, I'm so glad I did I'd rather not have any diamond than one that's totally crap...Thanks to all that took the time to write your honest reviews...
Im afraid that you get what you paid for ...you cant have 1 ct diamond ring on that price, clarity and color...its min 2500 £ for .5 carat...you are just naive thinking you can get top quality for peanuts
I also bought a ring from DJU In June 2017 + GIE Cert. for $48. in Dec, I wanted my ring to sized from 7 to 6 for my own Christmas gift with the local jeweler. The Jeweler told me that the diamond was treated with silicone. I contacted DJU - asking for return. I ended up pay 18% for re-stocking fee + 10% eBay fee from original price. The ring finally got back to DJU on Jan 3rrd. I sent several email - finally got a refund for my ring back, but do not get refund for my GIE Certificate. I sent email to both eBay and DJU website - no response. This is a big mistake in my life. Hope no one make mistake like I did.
PS. I bought an earrings that listed E color, but turn out to be I color. I returned the earrings as well.
Diamond Jewelery United is a scam diamond business distributing their BS around the world. They sell garbage and tell you otherwise. I purchased a Diamond ring on May 29, 2013 and was told is VS2 clarity and D-E color. I had a friend of mine who has been in the diamond business for over 40 years look at it 2 months ago after all this time and was sick over it. He looked at it and said where'd you get this piece of crap diamond! It's I3 clarity and H color. He can get me this same .92 carat diamond for $20 right now. DJU should be shut down you guys are criminals and shysters. I have emails from back then with a man by the name of Steven and his word is utter [censored]! If you purchase from this company you better take your ring to a reputable appraiser and have them look at it, then you'll know the truth. I've had 4 jewelers and 1 appraiser look at this ring in the last month and they've all confirmed the same thing. I paid $900 for a $20 stone, you'd be better off with CZ than this thing at least the CZ would be clear. I looked through a Loupe and this things riddled with carbon.. I contacted Steven G. and he could fkn care less, of course this little piece of [censored] going to say anything and everything to defend Herself.
Just a few comments in regards to all of this bad press on DJU [I dont work for them, but I am a repeat customer]. First of all, ALL of their product is enhanced, clarity or color or both. Second-none of their diamonds are "clear" like you would think. All of them are I1's by normal grading standards. There are inclusions, every type/kind. Third-if you're not watching the videos and DONT know what you're looking at then PLEASE.. go to the pawn shops for a deal. They post videos of every single item they have-and if you cant see a feather or a carbon spot or dark patch or a cloud then it's YOUR problem-not theirs. You already knew you were buying from out of the country-but don't bash them because you were misinformed and disappointed when you receive the item. Diamond snobs will slam their product but they are far and wide one of the only vendors on the web to offer bigger sized REAL DIAMONDS for these kind of prices. Pay attention to what you're purchasing-stop bashing the vendor.
You are correct that they are all clarity enhanced and are advertised as such; however, I purchased what was supposed to be a E VS2 diamond and the diamond was so yellow I couldn't resell it like I had planned. Their version of an "E" is much different than any other grading system in the entire world. The diamond was a G at best. I was happy with the clarity and it was overall a beautiful diamond so I used it for a different purpose. That being said, I still had to purchase a different diamond for my customer.
I bought a ring from them on eBay and what they had it listed at, value, grade, color etc was completely different than what the jeweler and gemologist said it actually was. After they gave me their reports I showed them the listing that was on eBay and both said that it was very misleading, the gemologist said that the person who wrote the listing was either untrained in evaluating diamonds or being untruthful. DJU is taking advantage of the unknowing public and their lack of knowledge in diamond grading, but when people like myself take their crap products to trained professionals, we are finding out the truth as to what we purchased. They are at the very least being untruthful and unethical in their practice, and at the worst are committing fraud.
We bought from this company as an investment but five years later the main ring is so yellow because the fillers have deteriorated. The stone is 4.6 carats and it really shows. The GIE certificate on the other ring is useless. Both rings valued at a fraction of initial cost causing much heartache here. This company do not like negative reviews and get them taken down , but so many people can’t be wrong. Buy if you must but with eyes wide open and realise just what you are getting.
I bought a 5.31 oval cut solitaire VS2 I and it was brownish (to be somewhat expected due to the color rating) but doesn't take away it's beauty. With the naked eyes you could not tell of imperfections for a good 6 months but now almost a year later the enhancement is gone, I can see black dots, feather, and bubbles with the naked eyes. As the person above me mentioned, they do post video's of the ring and I looked at it very carefully, what I received was the ring that was on the video but somehow with time the imperfections just popped up after many months (the only thing that I could not see is under the diamond when you touched it with your finger it's not cut perfectly and feels like a little chip. I never got it appraised, I just love it and I had bought two other rings before that one and had it returned with full refund. As for the FedEx refund on the shipping I do not recall being re-funded. I think the seller is fine but reading al these negative comments makes me wonder what my ring is really worth.
A stone can lose the enhancement in a few different ways. The first [because it happened to a different diamond I owned] is that the jeweler took a torch to it. The second was because I sent it to a consignment house to sell and they sent it to a different lab for grading [not gia mind you] and when I got the diamond back it looked like cracked glass. I then had to pay $75 to have it re-enhanced and it was fine. Go back to the vendor you purchased it from or google hpht/cvd enhancement companies to have it done for you. Enhanced diamonds don't just lose their enhancements in a year like that without some kind of heat or chemical treatment being done to the stone.
Thank you for your advice Wbee69. I bought it from DJU and never took it to any vendor or jeweller therefore the stone was never touched by anyone or exposed to heat beside walking or driving and being exposed to the sun. I had read somewhere that this could happen with time and exposure to the sun. I honestly do not mind the imperfections as they are not that many and in my case it doesn't take the beauty away even with the imperfection showing, I am as well conscient the bigger the stone, the more visible are the imperfections. I just wanted to point out my experience with the seller and my ring. In the 3 purchases I made with DJU the ring was exactly as on the video except that you can't see under the ring and in one purchase the diamond was badly chipped under. The seller had no problem having me return it and (Steven) did a full refund. The second purchase, the ring in person was too cloudy, you can see it on the video but in person it was very cloudy. I returned the ring with no problem and got full refund. The third purchase was this one and I kept it because it's beautiful overall and although I was surprised that it lost it's enhancement I was still very aware it could happen in time. I'm glad you posted your review and again thank you for your advice.
I cannot believe these crooks are still in business. Yes as stated above we know we are buying clarity enhanced diamonds and may be over graded... But seriously their F grade is more like a K by any reputable company. I could understand if it was realistically a H or an I at worst but 5 grades is ridiculous. Don't get me started on clarity. Even their videos of a 'vvs2' shows feathers, hate to view it under a loupe. The Vs2 I had ordered I was hoping would be a decent I1. I got a round 1ct 'f vs2' More like a K I3. Wholesale you can unenhanced ones for very little more. Live and learn I guess.
O, and the feedback on ebay something dodgy going on there, I constantly see bad reviews which dissappear for some reason. Virtually all of their google reviews are made up BS fake accounts.
Similar situation for me. Two rings bought and kept ( others returned immediately due to not matching descriptions ). Both appraised in 2022 as being worth a fraction of initial purchase price and the solitaire ring by this time was turning yellow as the filler deteriorating. The rings were never exposed to heat , taken off for washing up etc , and very carefully looked after. 6000.00 worth of diamonds with GIE certification. Worth 700.00 each. They say you get what you pay for , but with this company you do not get even that. Most of their negative reviews are removed especially from trustpilot , I was called a suspicious reviewer. But please do not buy from these people. Buy a smaller good GIA graded diamond. You know then that in 10 years time it will be worth more , look exactly the same and and be worthgevery penny you spent.
