Credit Card with BMO
Have had a Diners card for over 20+ years. Accumulated 400, 000 + points that have not been used. I paid my card off 100% and decided to stop using the card because I could never get into the online banking site (always locked out) and did not want have a balance that I could not pay. After paying the card off in December 2020 Diners (BMO) hit me with a 15.86 late charge. Since the card had been paid off and taken out of my wallet I never went back into account and decided to just hold it for all the points I planned to use in retirement. BMO/Diners has now defaulted and closed my account stating I have lost all my points!
Desired outcome: reinstatement of account and points
Rewards Program
6/15/2021
I have a diners corporate card - I redeemed $125 in gift cards and never received it. When I called in today, they told me I'm out of luck given it had been over 60 days since the order was placed (I placed it at the end of January, but was told it would be 8-12 weeks to process which puts us at the end of May and is not that far off from today any way... With COVID going on and everyone going through different situations given the pandemic, I would expect better customer service. Also, since I closed my rewards program (given we are not traveling due to COVID), they cannot even confirm the cards were ever sent. The $125 was already very discounted from the points I had earned (which should have been closer to $140 because of the increments offered are limited to $25, $50, and $100, therefore I forfeited the remaining) Very disappointed with this outcome and will never re-open the rewards program with Diners again (even when I start traveling).
Desired outcome: Refund $125 in a credit or gift card

Late charge
I have been a Diners Club card member for many years and I always make my payments on time. In the last year, I had one late payment for a computer glitch that was reversed .
Recently, in April, I had a late payment due to oversight. My father passed in February and I had to travel overseas, long distance . It was very sad for the whole family.
I had to pay a large amount of funeral expenses, air travel for some family members. On return there was the emergency of Coronavirus and we had to plan and learn on how to work from home and also attend to sick patients .I missed a payment in April as such . I called today and asked if the late payment could be reversed due to the extraneous circumstances.
The agent ( whose name I have ) said she could not as I had been excused once in the last year. Despite my mentioning the circumstances, she was " bound by policies " .I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said " I could not speak to one" ! The late charge would stay. She could see that I spend a lot every month and my history is essentially spotless apart from these late payments from a computer glitch and sad circumstances.
I was most disappointed about the sheer lack of empathy at this time the whole world is facing and my own personal circumstances re the passing of my dad.
I have other charge cards from highly reputable companies that I will be using in preference, and regard this card as my worst charge card close to ditching . Ever since Bank of Montreal has taken over, there has been one headache after another even when it comes to verifying the card over the phone with an agent. This has been mentioned in reviews from other clients, and I could not agree more . The Diners card must go back into American hands and banking as before Bank of Montreal took over, I never had any issues not have terrible agents that answer phones.
124€ is taken from my father's card on 10/11/2019
So as I wrote to you today we got a message that we have a bill from ASK-NET.com that we have no idea what it is but the money from the card is taken and I dont know what to do, should I call the bank pr wait for youre response? 124€ is taken and we have no idea from who and we want it back as soon as possible. I purchased some stuff on the net but never knew it could take me my money on the way I dont know. Please give me information and a refund. And please tell me where the money went to. Thank you.
customer service at diners club
On January 9th 2019 I tried to validate my new credit card number [protected]. I called from South America where I have my second residence. Unfortunately as I was told some of the pretty stupid questions I did not answer correctly to the lady of your office who by the way acted like a hungry tiger. As she did not intend to understand my arguments, I told her to destroy the card where I have been a member since 1987. Now she told me no way she could cancel my account and that I would receive a letter. I tried to make her understand that I will not be in the USA for the next 3 to 4 month, a response she could´nt care less. Is there Any way I can validate my card with a different person? If not I will just have to destroy my card with or without cancellation from your side. thank you for your comments and best regards Kurt Diener

credit card
I have held a Diner's Club card for 28 years. I recently attempted to make a payment through their website, and failed to get confirmation. I emailed customer service to ensure that the payment was received, and got a form response. I revisited their site and it stated that the payment was pending. When I got my statement 3 days later no payment had been received and I immediately made the payment again. Diner's Club, reported me as 30 days late to the credit agencies. An attempt to get this reversed was denied.
customer service
My father, a U.S. resident who lived in Ecuador, has a Diners club card (taken out in Ecuador) and I called customer service in the United States and in Ecuador to cancel the card. The U.S. customer service could not help me at all, despite two calls there. When I called Ecuador, the phone line was erratic and I was disconnected 10 times. 10 TIMES! I explained that my father had died, gave them his country ID number, was in the process of explaining that I have all the legal documents (including a Record of Death from the U.S. Embassy and his Ecuadorean death certificate), but was cut off. When I called the U.S. customer service number again to try to enlist their help, they not only said they couldn't help, they wouldn't even give me over to a supervisor or provide a complaint number. His card is being used illegally and we're trying to stop charges. Unbelievable.
online billing and payment
For the last several months, I have noticed errors with my online statement. Diners Club requires the previous months balance be paid in full where at one time it used to allow balances to be carried forward. On Jan 1, payment was made in full for the previous month's balance. Several days later, I received an email stating that no payment was received by the due date. Fortunately, I have a printed acknowledgement that the payment was made. I called Diners Club and they stated that no payment was received. They did charge a late payment fee and after telling them that I have a printed receipt of the payment, they said they would credit back the late fee.
This month, I checked the online statement. It shows the current total balance and also the previous month's minimum payment due which is more than the current balance showing. It also shows the payment they couldn't find and all of the transactions incurred. On the phone again, the customer rep gave me an amount due for last month's charges that doesn't show anywhere on the online statement. I asked on how we are supposed to know what amount needs to be paid since it doesn't show. She stated that I need to calculate the amount paid and deduct it from the previous month, manually.
Since Diners Club USA was taken over by Bank of Montreal (BM0), it has gone to the pits.I have been with Diners for decades and am really saddened to see them deteriorate to garbage. It is one thing to have poor service, but for their own personnel to know that the procedures are not correct, but to try and justify the company's incompetence is pitiful.
Now my task is to find a new credit card with a company that has intelligence and common sense to back it. Did I mention, that when I had to get a replacement card, they could not deliver it to my PO Box although they send all the written statements there?
customer service and rewards problems
Has anyone else been frustrated with Diners Club since BMO took over? Customer service has gone in the toilet - it takes about 6 steps to get to a live operator now and even when I do get through to someone, they don't seem as bright as the previous crew.
The Club Rewards website is another problem - its not just worse, it has simply stopped functioning. Not I have to call an operator (again 6 steps) to get my balance and do any rewards transactions.
But my real complaint is that I can no longer flip my Club Rewards points into American Airlines. Does anyone know if this is a short term issue or has Diners killed this benefit?
Its starting to look like I might need to change my credit card. Not good.
Offer live operator after one voice prompt.
Get American Airlines back into Club Rewards.
I usually make my payments by phone, so I interact with a CS representative each time. I've asked about the future of this card through BMO, and the answers are always cagey. I've directly asked if they are trying to discontinue the brand, and the oblique response could certainly be interpreted as a "yes." Basically, they're hoping all of us will drop our accounts so they won't have to bother with DC any longer. I wish they would just sell the product back to Citi. At least then there was some support. Changing it into a Mastercard was (IMHO) a huge mistake. When I want to use a Mastercard, I have a couple others from which to choose. How about it? Citi? BoA? PNC? Somebody PLEASE buy this from BMO and return it to its status as the premier T&E card.
I have also (like many of you) been a Diners member for decades, and hang on to the card hoping something will get better.
Still waiting for that to happen.
The Diners Club tremendous brand has been ruined by Bank of Montreal. I have been a life long loyal Diners Club customer (30+ years) and since day one of the acquisition it has been nothing but trouble. The customer service is shocking. No proactive problem solving. Not even a thank you for your loyal custom. Might as well be a Discover card. No longer set up to handle issues internationally. Website payments don't process from an Asian IP. You can not be transferred to account management. You have to dial an entirely different number. Have called Account Management every day this week and hold for 40 minutes each time. Not even a recording stating what the wait time will be. I called last night 15 minutes before they close and they were already closed. Random hours? Wow! And the straw was Erika Taylor who feels saying "I apologise" is just too beneath her. The arrogance is unbelievable.
Lie - Cheat - Rip Off should be the new corporate slogan for Diners. My payment did not reach Diners in the usual 7 to 10 days, so I called and was instructed to cancel my check payment and wire transfer funds to cover the monthly balance prior to becoming late. So I did as instructed. Well, my check miraculously appeared the same day (15 days after mailing) that I transferred monies and I was charged $25 for a cancelled check which I refused to pay. I immediately cancelled my card and membership and then was charged for the Annual fee of $130. Now this company of greed and incompetence wants me to pay $155 plus late charges. Diners management can go straight to Hell where they belong. I will be filing charges against this company as well as filing with the FL States Attorney Office.
What is going on with them? They have the WORST website I've ever tried to use--can't download transactions and they refuse to allow access like all banks, Chase, others do to update transactions. There is NO email contact access. I'm traveling internationally and I've tried 4 times to call customer service and given up each time after hold times in excess of 45 minutes!
I am still lamenting the demise of Diners Club.
i'M DONE WITH DINERS...AFTER ALMOST 30 YEARS...SO CALLED SUPERVISORS ARE KIDS...ROTTEN REWARDS PROGRAM...EXCESSIVE MEMBERSHIP FEES...FOR WHAT?...THEIR CEO SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO THESE POSTS, THEY ARE LOSING 30+ YEAR CUSTOMERS...
Too bad! Is there another card like the old Diners Card of old?!? Or is this it?
Diners BMO has gone to hell along with the global greed only financial system. 2013 will mark my 40th year with DC. It will also likely mark my last year as I see little reason to renew it given the rotten service.
Sad, it used to be the best of the best and I used it to travel and work in more countries than I care to remember. Its demise is like that of a career long friend that helped me so many times in endless travels to God forsaken places.
I agree that I am after more than 30 years well over Diners Cub--and that is so unfortunate--but I had to finally admit that this card which calls itself Diners Club is not the Diners Club of old--and does not even have a semblance of the Diners Club card of old!. Start with the $300 yearly fee and an additional $150 for my spouse's card--that was ok under the old Diners' card--but there are absolutely no privileges for this kind of yearly fees with this new Diners Club card that has been available out of Canada for the past 2 years. Add to that almost NO CUSTOMER SERVICE with phones ringing and ringing with no one to answer and a website that does not respond when you have questions.
There is absolutely no respect any more for the lenght of time that you have been with the card. After more than 30 years with absolutely no late payments when I was one day past due and went to the web to make my card payment, the card had been cut off--no notice--nothing--just cut off--and I have been paying Diners Club sometimes more than $4000 per month for my home, business and travel expenses for more than 30 years each month.
Unfortunately, I do not know where to go--but I am too through with Diners Club since Canada--I regret the investment I have made with this company because it is all for naught--and quite unfortunately I get the impression that no one understands nor cares that I am moving on.
Good riddance Diners Club--feeling like a jilted lover--I am moving on--with perfect credit, I deserve better and I am sure that I will find better because I deserve it.
in canada ive had dinersclub since it first came here as part of enroute, and while i wasnt initially happy when dinersclub became part of mastercard/citi, i will admit that they didnt screw up any of the travel reasons i had and wanted the card. i have amex plat and had gold and have had a variety of amex corp cards; and as good as those have been, if you know how to use the perqs and benefits you can make these member fee cards pay for themselves. diners club used to feel like a charge card, and aside from a network of airport lounges, was beneficial for a lot of eastern usa and toronto montreal ottawa travel i do. with diners club there used to be no worry about going over limit, they new i would pay off the card within the next statement period. there was always a grace period, and they actually looked at the spending and offered rewards based on purchases without acting nosey or pushy. ALWAYS when i called Diners Club, regardless of the issue, there was never a recorded message. They answered the phone in 3 rings, and they were smart and courteous without any bs like now with the boiler room BMO has brought to the game. BMO feels Bell Canada: outsourced generic and off shore. In canada, i didnt know BMO took over in november 2011, until they flipped my account by accident to a collection agency. i thought i was the victim of a scam. reported it to dinersclub, and when i called, i thought it was a continuation of the scam. it wasnt diners club i was calling it was outsourced generic and inept. they told me that my account was fine, that they didnt flip me to collections and that there are lots of scams. i had paid off my balance, missed by 2 days on the due date, but was still not into the next statement date. i talked to BMO security who were not up to speed with dinersclub, still transitioning in january, and nobody knew anything. i was only being called by third party collections about once every 2 weeks. voice mail. not harrasing. weird. finally after reporting it to Diners club bmo for the 5th time. And faxing a letter that had scam written all over it. someone from central canada called me and apologized profusely and said that it was an error. I couldnt have been the only one. The left hand didnt know what the right was doing. I had/have a flawless credit history and equally excellent record with dinersclub since the 80s. Now i just blew out all my reward points before they took a dive too; and i am only going to keep the card active to access airport lounges, until it requires another annual fee, and i am dumping it the month before. Too bad, but oh well, BMO is doing well with some of my RESP funds, but i dont want any other of their products. And i already have a visa card, and this diners is nothing more than a dressed up bmo mastercard that puts one in line with all the massive mastercard multi affinity cards out there. when you call customer service they could be doing any number of several dozen mastercard files and they could care less if its dinersclub or costco or fruit of the month club mastercard. bye bye diners club. i am soooo over you.

changed credit line after attempted purchase
I was making a large purchase at an auction I regularly attend, and sometimes I have to call ahead and let them know I'm going to make a charge. Before I could get someone on the phone, the merchant attempted to run the card, which came back "authorization required". I was told they would need to call me back on my cellphone to verify my identity, which they did. I was told the charge was approved. The merchant received the same message, "authorization required" on their terminal. When I called Diners Club again, I was told to try running the card one more time. When I did, it came back "declined". Another call to Diners Club revealed that my credit report was accessed, and from that information, my credit line was reduced.
Apparently the credit check occurred the same day, perhaps after trying to use the card the first time. Diners Club won't tell me exactly when the credit report was accessed. The information is outdated and all my accounts are current. But until it's corrected by the credit bureau, they won't reinstate my credit line. What's worse, they may reduce it again after my next payment.
Isn't it illegal to tell a customer their charge is approved, then change the line of credit to stop them from making a purchase?
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
>>Isn't it illegal to tell a customer their charge is approved, then change the line of credit to stop them from making a purchase?
no, there is no law against it.
