I was surprised with an automatic subscription renewal charged to my PayPal account
I was surprised with an automatic subscription renewal charged to my PayPal account. I immediately filed an 'unauthorized payment' with PP and emailed DiscountMags regarding this charge. Apparently, I had authorized the renewal and they had sent an email informing me of the upcoming charge. Although I couldn't find this email, I do believe they sent it and they did offer a full refund.Everything was handled professionally and to my satisfaction! Thanks to DiscountMags for responding very quickly and making me a satisfied customer.
This is a horrible company to do business with
This is a horrible company to do business with. I ordered two magazine subscriptions on Dec. 11, 2020 and it's March 13 and I have not received either one of them. To make matters worse, there's no phone number to call them and they don't respond to email requests, even though they say they will within 3-5 business days. They just send automated messages blaming COVID-19 for all the delays and non-response. I will never do business with them again unless they resolve my issues. I would give zero stars if I could. Buyer beware.
Can't say enough about the customer service team at this company
Can't say enough about the customer service team at this company. Been a customer for over 5 years and while I have had issues receiving my magazines, its always an issue with the publisher, rather than DiscountMags. They always respond quickly and contact the publisher to rectify the issue. If the issue doesn't get resolved, they always do what's right. I've tried several purchasing from a couple other sites and no one's customer service is as good as ***. A magazine is a magazine but not all customer service is created equal.
No stars would be appropriate, since I have received no issues
No stars would be appropriate, since I have received no issues. I paid in full last year for a New Yorker subscription. I have not received one copy. Discount mags allows itself up to 12 weeks for the first issue arrive, which is lengthy by any standards, but that 3-month deadline passed long ago. I've emailed customer service several times to ask them to look into it. Generally there is a promise to get make enquiries and get back to me within days. Still no answer. If for whatever reason Discount Mags cannot provide the magazines, it should say so and refund the money.
I would leave zereo stars if I could
I would leave zereo stars if I could. I ordered a magazine from Discountmags.com and never received it, although my credit card was charged on the first day I ordered. After serveral attempts to resolve issue after waiting 4 months for magazine to show up Discountmags.com did nothing to resolve my issue. I ended up filing a dispute with my credit card who refunded my money but Discountmags.com says the dispute is still open because I went throught my CC company. Not sure what you're supposed to do when they don't responds to complaints. I got my money back from my CC compnay, I would stay away from Discountmags.com

This an email I recently sent to DiscoutMags after receiving a fantastic response to questions I asked them:Thank you very much for the prompt, concise, and courteous response! Kudos to you, you are a shining example of what true customer service is all about! I wish I could get you as a teacher to many CSR out there that show no interest in service to their customers and would rather send out a boiler-plate response that does not come near to answering a question but allows them to put a checkmark in "DONE" count. My face is red, I did find the email you sent on 10/9 and it had not been read. Yes, I wish to continue the magazine and keep the DiscountLock intact.Thank you very much
DiscountMags.com is NOT THE SAME as Discount Magazine
DiscountMags.com is NOT THE SAME as Discount Magazine. I order a magazine subscription as a b-day present (b-day greeting included). That person never received the b-day greeting so I was suspicious and did some digging. There is no way to contact DiscountMags.com - no email, phone number, etc.. on their website. If you contact Discount Magazine, they will tell you they get *** calls per day on the scam DiscountMags.com is running. Luckily the transaction was only 2 days old and I was able to cancel the payment and block them from my credit card. *** told me I 'm not the only one complainting about DiscountMags.com. They said they will put them on their warning list. AVOID DiscountMags.com!
i was having a billing problem and called and spoke with a represtative that took my information
i was having a billing problem and called and spoke with a represtative that took my information. I received mail back that they were unable find my account. I have 3 charges on my bank account that showed differently. I couldnt even communicate with email as my mail to customer service kept getting returned as failed even though it was the same customer service address I mailed to a few days earlier. Difficult as it was found phone number for customer service and spoke to *** who in a few moments found the problem and corrected it after working with the email address recommended and got no results. My suggestion to you is if you have a problem call Discount Magazine on the phone directly for quick and courteous service ask for ***.
While i also had issues receiving my New Yorker subscription at the height of covid, it is utterly untrue that DiscountMags is a scam site
While i also had issues receiving my New Yorker subscription at the height of covid, it is utterly untrue that DiscountMags is a scam site. I've been a customer for many years and receiving New Yorker flawlessly for many years until covid. In fact I had issues receiving many magazines. Whether it was *** delays because of the cluster F they created or publishers shutting down or going digital for a period of time. It's easy to blame the company you purchase from but i know them to be a small family owned business that strives to make the best out of a bad situation. Yes "Covid" is an excuse, just like it is for the thousands of restaurants and other businesses that are impacted. We are all impacted but trolling and leaving terrible reviews doesn't serve anyone.
It seems many people have had issues, or rather no issues received, when ordering the New Yorker through DiscountMags.com
It seems many people have had issues, or rather no issues received, when ordering the New Yorker through DiscountMags.com. That's my story too. At the end of December I ordered the New Yorker for my mother. It should have tacked on to the end of her current subscription, which ended in February . At the end of March no issues had been arrived. I renewed her subscription directly with the New Yorker, for a better deal, and DiscountMags, to their credit, very politely gave me a full refund. I guess these things come up, and I would have given three stars, but I had to come here to Complaintsboard.com to find any kind of a number for DiscountMags. DiscountMags seems to be trying to do good business, but there are some problems right now, and it will be a long time before I try ordering through them again.
In a hurry I didn't read how my subscription would be handled, so I paid for 10 copies of the same issue of the magazine I wanted
In a hurry I didn't read how my subscription would be handled, so I paid for 10 copies of the same issue of the magazine I wanted. When I couldn't download more than 1 copy, I thought there was something wrong. After trying for some time I finally got in touch with Zinio and they explained how their company and the Publisher of the magazine [ via DiscountMags.com ] actually worked together. Their staff was helpful and exceedingly patient. When I got in touch by email with the Publisher of the magazine they were helpful, patient and nice. Before I knew it the phone rang, and a member of the customer service staff said they were going to refund the money for the extra copies I couldn't get as downloads. The gentleman was very pleasant. I was very pleased! It was my fault in the first place! I just need to spend more time reading the details before I buy something!
I appreciate the service from DiscountMags after a subscription issue for my pen pal in prison.
I really appreciate the excellent service I received when I purchased a subscription for a pen pal in prison, but they no longer allowed the prisoners to receive this specific magazine, which was really expensive. I thought I would have to go through a long process, only to fail to get my money back, but lo and behold one email did the trick. I sent an email explaining the situation and in a very short time received a response saying they would happily refund my money. In this day and age of companies vying to be the worst in customer service, working with DiscountMags is a breath of fresh air and I thank you! Going back further, this is the third company I used to try to get magazines to my pen pal. There were so many problems with the first two I nearly gave up trying, but third time's a charm and I am blessed to have found DiscountMags.
Still waiting 18 weeks after ordering Popular Mechanics from Discount Magazines
Still waiting 18 weeks after ordering Popular Mechanics from Discount Magazines. All they do when you contact them about delivery, and in my case, Popular Mechanics directly as well by email or by phone is to perputuate one excuse after another why they can't deliver. ZERO star rating but only clicked one just to accept my review. This business is nothing more than a scamming money grab. My latest reply that I received today ... said they were sorry for the delay ... and that they will extend my order for 1 more issue at the end ... wow .. but my subscription order ends 4 years from now in 2025. I requested a refund within the next 5 days. If not I'll ask the bank to reject their debit and get my refund. This experience has been a great disappointment and embarrassment for me after I touted the Popular Mechanics magazine as a gift for my Son in Law and Grandson. Over the holidays and months that followed, I have been chided by my family about the delivery of this so called subscription who subtly hint that I was scammed.

Ive ordered several magazine subscriptions from discount mags.com and usually have no problem
Ive ordered several magazine subscriptions from discount mags.com and usually have no problem. Now, however, I am not receiving 2 magazines that were not delivered as ordered: better homes and gardens and allrecipes. They were BOTH ordered to be delivered to ***e long beach ca. Sophea ***=better homes and gardens, sharon ***=allrecipes. To this day I have not rec'd a single issue of allrecipes (supposed to go to ***e long beach, ca and the better homes and gardens magazine delivers to 2160 carter rd dubuque, ia and not to ***e long beach ca where it should as was ordered. If you look at the order history you will see that I have the correct addresses as discount mags said I do not have the correct addresses. I have contacted them 3-4 times to no avail. They keep saying it is my fault for it going to the wrong address and you can see by the order form that I am not at fault or they tell me to contact usps when they are at fault. Please fix this and look at the attachments. I NEED TO ATTACH PHOTOS OF ORDERS AND WHAT I RECD BUT THIS SITE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO, HOW DO I DO THAT?

so I ordered the smithsonian on Dec
so I ordered the smithsonian on Dec. 12 as I have every other year. They processed on the 19th. THIS year they sent me a "lock"----copied from my email...DiscountLock renewal for Smithsonian (to be delivered to peter) will be processed on Dec 19, 2020. NOT done. NOTHING has come since last NOVEMBER with LAST year (which wasn't even suppose to end that early). . Called Smithsonian to learn of another company ("subco"...one I DID NOT do business with), not even this name was listed & no, wasn't processed for months. SO...given their phone number is NOT operational (great going there discount Mag!), I had NO choice but to email them. I did so now over SEVEN times, all without any response. That was about 2 weeks ago I started. They have on website that due to delays, response time can be up to 2 days. Well NO, not two days, not even two weeks. They did not even send a courtesy reply stating they will get to it. They plain ignored every single email I've sent. They appear to be a very fraudulent business at this point & i'm beyond furious they can't even answer emails & look into it. This was a GIFT to my husband...Peter Schmuggerow. So made me look VERY bad at Xmas time. They are beyond egregious.

In November I bought a magazine subscription as a gift for my best friend
In November , I bought a magazine subscription as a gift for my best friend. After a 16-week wait without the magazine's arrival, my friend inquired about it. I reached out to DiscountMags.com through social media to follow up on my email inquiry. Eventually, they replied, stating it would take another week or two for the publisher to confirm that two issues had been sent, which wasn't the case. DiscountMags.com advocated for us, requesting an extension of the subscription due to the missing issues, a process that might add another unnecessary delay. My friend has delivery notifications set up but hasn't received any. I spent $63.50 on an annual subscription for his favorite magazine, and he's already missed two issues. While DiscountMags.com customer service is responsive, the resolution is slow, and I feel taken advantage of. I paid in full and expect the magazines to be delivered promptly.

In October a certain year, a promotional offer was running
In October a certain year, they were running a promotional offer of 10% discount on total if you signed up for a free trial of a magazines subscription. The trial was for 30 days. I called the number the first week of September to cancel. I received the confirmation that it was canceled. But for some reason, I continued to receive magazines. I called Mags.com and they said your subscription has been canceled but in an effort to get you back we send out random magazines to pique your interest. I assure you you are not being charged. Well, I looked at my account and I have in fact been charged. They have been charging me since November. I called today 2/13 and spoke with a representative. He said when I originally canceled I only canceled one of the 4 magazines. That's incorrect; I canceled the subscription. I did not sign up for them individually; it was a package. He stated that you have to go through and cancel each one individually. But I was never told that nor is it in their terms and policies. I request a refund of the total billed. They said they can only refund the current charges. I feel they were dishonest and misleading. I was under the impression the subscription to all 4 magazines was canceled.

Background -- I had a very good experience with this company in 2019, ordering a 2-year renewal of my subscription to The New Yorker at a good price and having it work well. Not good at all this year. I went to their website March 6, and ordered a 2 year renewal. I received an immediate confirmation stating that it would be processed in a week, and then a week later received a receipt/confirmation. I should note that my subscription was scheduled to expire August 9.No renewal happened. I contacted the company in early September. They apologized. Indicated that they should have finished processing the renewal July 3rd. And then reported that the magazine doesn't accept 2 year renewals from them, offerring to do a 1 year renewal and refund the rest. I asked for them to provide the missing issues. They said they could not. They also said it would take *** weeks more to "process" and start getting issues. Now there's still no indication that the New Yorker has received the subscription renewal. My problem here is three-fold: 1. Offerring products they can't deliver. 2. Delaying putting in the renewals so that they end up late 3. No follow up This is very disappointing. This company seems to have generally good reviews, but this was clearly a non-satisfactory experience.

Hello, I cancelled my Civil War magazine subscription from DiscountMags.com on 3/16/22
Hello, On 3/16/22, I cancelled my Civil War magazine subscription (ordered online through DiscountMags.com). I contacted them via email to cancel since their website doesn't offer a direct cancellation option. My reason for cancellation was a lack of time to read the magazine. I also informed them of my new credit card for the refund. On 3/21/22, they confirmed the cancellation but stated they couldn't refund to the new card since it wasn't the one used for the subscription. They proposed a refund via a Gift Certificate or an electronic transfer through a third-party service, which I declined since I'm not interested in another magazine. I offered my new credit card details for the refund. However, they repeated their initial response on 3/24/22, disregarding my suggestion. It's frustrating that a simple refund is becoming a hassle. I've decided to handle magazine issues directly in the future. I'm seeking a refund method that suits me. Can you assist? Thank you.

On May 1 I purchased a subscription to Golfweek magazine from the discountmags.com website
On May 1 I purchased a subscription to Golfweek magazine from the discountmags.com website. I received an order confirmation and was charged for the purchase. 87 days later, on July 27, I emailed discountmags because I had not received the magazine. They replied that they would check with the publisher. In email exchanges on August 3/4 I was told by discountmags that they could not process my order, as well as several times that the magazine was no longer on their website. They also said they were issuing a refund, which I did not ask for as I want the subscription that I purchased. The responses raised numerous questions/concerns in my mind. -I found it odd that they said in August, several times, that the magazine was no longer on their website. This has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the magazine was available for sale on May 1, as verified by the order confirmation, as well as one of their responses, and that I purchased the magazine on that date, and was charged for the purchase. -When was this order sent to the publisher ? -Why do they list for sale, and accept payment for, a magazine that can't be processed? -If a purchase on May 1 could not be processed, why did they state 87 days later on July 27 that they would have to contact the publisher ? Payment had been made at the time of the order. -Why didn't they contact me in the intervening 87 days between May 1 and July 27 with information that the order could not be processed ? Why did I have to inquire about the magazine before being given this information ? Would my payment have been kept indefinitely without the order being processed if I had not inquired about it 87 days later ? Synopsis: The magazine was listed for sale, I purchased the magazine, I was charged for the magazine, the magazine was not delivered, and it was only after I inquired about the magazine that I was told 3 months later that the order could not be processed.

In mid-March my social media account was compromised, leading to multiple unauthorized charges.
In mid-March my social media account was compromised within the family, leading to 8 unauthorized charges totaling over a thousand dollars. One was a $179 charge from Discountmags.com for an Economist subscription, which I don't read. The other 7 businesses reversed the charges when notified (I also updated my account security), but discountmags disputed the facts via emails. They wouldn't cancel the subscription or refund the money, claiming the hacker got instant game rewards for the purchase, thus no refund was possible. I proposed covering the game rewards cost for a partial refund, but they declined and wasted much of my time, leading me to request a subscription change to the New Yorker, which is cheaper on their site. After much debate and gaslighting, they agreed to switch to the cheaper magazine but have yet to do so, still sending the unwanted Economist issues. I've repeatedly asked for a refund to no avail. Their service has been dismissive and misleading, falsely citing parental controls instead of acknowledging the unauthorized use of my account.
