East Dallas Pet Rescue review: Scammers - should be put out of business

I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding my recent adoption experience with East Dallas Pet Rescue, which has been deeply troubling and disappointing for my family and me.

On December 18, I received a call from Jaclyn Hall after applying for a female "Golden Retriever/Australian Shepherd" mix. She scheduled an appointment for me to meet a litter of puppies at 7:00 PM on Friday, December 20. During our conversation, she clearly stated there were four puppies available, and the parents were known to be a Golden Retriever and an Australian Shepherd/Poodle mix, with one parent reportedly being a service dog.
I drove three hours in rush hour traffic to the foster’s home, arriving exactly at 7:00 PM. Upon arrival, I found that the foster, Donna, was not there, and her husband seemed unaware of any puppies. I waited nearly an hour while Jaclyn attempted to resolve the situation via phone. Initially, she instructed me to wait for a neighbor to show the puppies, but eventually, an adolescent girl claiming to be the foster’s granddaughter, appeared with only one puppy—a male. This was not the experience I was promised, and if I had known only a male was available, I likely would not have made the trip, as we specifically wanted a female dog. The puppy also looked nothing like the one in the photo.

The entire process felt unprofessional and suspicious. No representative from the organization was present for the adoption, no paperwork was provided, and I was asked to pay via Zelle using the "friends and family" option, an unsecure method of payment. The fee was $350 instead of the $250 minimum listed on their website. Additionally, I was promised the puppy’s medical records via email the night of adoption, but I never received them. I reached out to the "Medical Coordinator" on December 28 and received no response. After multiple attempts, I finally received a text from Jessica Martin on January 7. She acknowledged that I should have received the records and promised to resend them, which she only did after I contacted her again the following day. The records I received appear questionable and falsified with no Veterinarian listed.

Moreover, the puppy began displaying aggressive behaviors, including biting my children on multiple occasions. Concerned about his behavior and breed, I purchased a DNA test. The results revealed the puppy is half Pit Bull, along with German Shepherd and other breeds—a stark contrast to the information provided by the organization. I was completely misled about the puppy’s breed, and now, for the safety of my children, I must rehome him. We do not wish him to be euthanized, but we cannot keep an aggressive dog in our home.

This experience has been extremely emotional for my family. We have been eagerly anticipating adding a dog to our family for years, and what should have been a joyful occasion has turned into a nightmare. My children are devastated.

Given the misleading information, unprofessional conduct, and potential falsification of records, I am requesting a full refund and for the organization to take the dog back. Furthermore, I have discovered that East Dallas Pet Rescue is on the IRS Auto-Revocation List, raising additional concerns about the organization's legitimacy.

I will be reporting this situation the to appropriate authorities.
