I would never recommond empire to any one.
I attended empire beauty school in 2008, I was 100% not satisfied! I was told ebs was the best school to attend for cometology education. This education you would not find anywhere. These were all lies. I was promise that I would be fully certifed in the bussiness field of salon owner ship, a nail tech, barbering, as well as advance studies in cutting, coloring and styling. Even though these were promise by the enrollment reps, none of the course made us to be certified in anything. The educational course were awful, the class room work was all over the place, there was no way you can learn what was presented if its handed to you by someone that lacks in experience.
There was always drama with students, teachers and the director. I went thru 6 teaches while attending ebs, 5 of those teachers were in my senior yr. Everyone came with a different ways of teachering, so I dealt with a lot of "no that was taught wrong" these were the techniques required to perform at stateboard, from the cut to the proper way to apply a relaxer or color.
My question is why was it so hard to keep teachers there, some of them even went as far to say, they were not happy with the lack of education, or support from the director, as if to say, her main concern was about #, how many students could she get in the door & enroll under false contents.
Even corporate gave us false hopes of changes would be made. We even went as far to hold a protest in the parking lot to display our anger and unhappiness with the school, we were not learning anything.
The school was more focus on getting students in, instead of getting teachers in that were qualified for the job, or clinets in for us to work on.
The school lacked a great deal in being professional and having solid structure. Rules were broken on a regular basis without any type of punishment, this is suppose to be a school, better yet a college base course.
The school is not worth the $20k they are charging. The kits that are put together requires a lot more of supplies. They advise that we would still have to purchase more supplies once we moved up to work on the flloor. The only good thing I left ebs with are my text books and some wonderful friends.
Even the cost of the state board exam could have or should be included
In the cost.
What they should be concern with is
1the number of students that drop out
2 the number of teaches that quit
3 the number of students with poor attendance
4 the number of student that show up for the day but would leave before the day was over
5 the low morale
6 unhappiness of the student with the program
7 low test scores
8 students not being prepare to take on a client
9 lack of teachers on the floor to assits with servicing of clients
There are other complaints listed under Empire School, that complaint fits in well with what I had experienced as well. I agree 100%, at some point the school accredidation needs to be re-ajusted or taken away. Why does it take a full time student close to 2yrs to finishe. simplye becuz the education skills are not there, the school gives you nothing to look forward to, other then the end of the day.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Empire education sucks. It is all run like a 3 ring circus with the director of each school being the ring leader. I agree that they only care about thr numbers of students that they can falsely lure into there clutches. Students pay a hefty tuition, to sit on their ### all day and learn absolutely nothing, while empire and their staff sit back and collect a paycheck.
I have asked the same question after reading many complaints here and on other sites, Why has their been no investigation by any of their supporting agencies, any government agency. This is a clear case of fraud an mis representation in many forms. Why has nothing yet been done.
The teachers at the hanover, Pa school are all nit wits with little to know knowledge all backed by a director who is as clueless as a student on their first day.
Everyone says the economy is so horrible, well empire has a fix on it, and their are plenty of people waiting on the side to jump in and enroll and pay good money for nothing.
Lets talk about a general business descision. In the Hanover, Pa area most salons pay hourly minimum wage (7.15/hr), and none generally hire full time, with a few exceptions. So, lets say your tuition is $16, 000. You need 1260 hours to graduate. That means your are paying $12.70 per hour flat, (not including interest on your loan), to graduate and most likely make $7.15 per hour. You are already at a $5.15 per hour loss once you hit the work force.
Now if you are one of the students paying more in tuition, where are you? How will you make your monthly loan payments, plus any cost of living payments (rent, food, car, etc.) and expect to survive when you are already at a substantial loss to start.
If you cant make a descision based on those numbers. ENROLL TODAY.
OMG! I GO THROUGH THIS AND SO MUCH MORE AT EMPIRE IN BORDENTOWN, NJ!

I would love to hear from anyone with complaints. I attend as of now and am on senior floor. But I have just found out that my Financial Aid papers have been forged and lied on. They signed my name as well as my moms. It is crazy there. SO MUCH FRAUD. Almost everyone got fired and now there are new people but its still crazy.. The guy who got students to come there was making fake diplomas, a teacher is buying drugs from someone in my class, its outrageous! Theres so much more.. I wouldnt know where to begin.. we also NEVER have product! Its crazy they never have anything!
Just found out how much it costs to go to this beauty school, 16, 000 +, what a scam and rip off! I wnt to beauty school in 1992 and the cost was approx. 6, 000., I had a hard time to pay my student loans back. Can't imagine having to pay back 16, 000. Ridiculous!
If anybody is still haveing a problem wit empire, plz call me cause in thinking about sueing. I dont even give my # out like dis but i am cause empire is [censor]. Im Brittney and i attend empire in airzona. My # is [protected].
There is a BIG issue with these school. I had the same thoughts as many of you all did, rose colored glasses when I enrolled and they were on until about a month in. Now being a senior, I am disappointed with the conditions at my campus. We currently have 2 senior classes, 1 advanced tech class, and 1 Salon 360 class on the floor during the week. There's 18 chairs on the clinic floor... OVER CROWDED! And that's with 3 classes being out there everyday and one class everyday being in theory. 50 plus people for all 4 classes and we're supposedly not at capacity? We don't have enough teachers, supplies, we're not taught any new techniques as I was told, clients aren't spread around, and there's so much favouritisim! Even I as a good student who has amazing attendance and grades cannot stand going there. When I enter that school I get depressed and angry, so much so I've contemplated transferring to another school. I'm tired of having to show up to a place where I feel my talents as a future stylist aren't even appreciated. And don't get me started on the GHETTONESS of my school...
And how about the lack of learning the WHOLE field? I'd love to do makeup and skin care and how much education do we get in that? 2 WEEKS combined for both! Basically everything I learned I could have gotten through Google... and that's sad. REALLY REALLY REALLY SAD. All I've gotten out of it so far is I can color my hair as needed for free of really super cheap.
I came in to get layers and color done. After showing Savannah a picture of the brown that I wanted, I ended up with a dull strawberry blonde. Ashley, the teacher scheduled me for 3 week's later to come have the color corrected. When I showed up, I was told that I'd have to pay yet again for Savannah's mistake. I am absolutely livid over the situation and disgusted that I would have to pay more money just because the student couldn't tell the difference between blonde and brunette. These people are thieves and should not be allowed to charge people for their student's mistakes. Ashley claimed that I could've come back in 24 hours for a free color, however she is the one who scheduled my next appointment for 3 weeks out. GO TO A REPUTABLE SALON FOR YOUR SERVICES! The prices are about the same and you get what you pay for.
