My son and his siblings absolutely love it!
My youngest son named Rocky loves epic! He loves the books on gardening. All because of epic, he loves plants and gardening! He likes to call himself the plant rescuer, he always plants or transplants plants, while listening to plant or guarding books. He can’t get away from epic! His older brother named Max who is 7 loves tagging along rescuing plants! He and his little brother even share stuff with there friends or the neighbors facts they learned from the epic books. Also my daughter Coco who is the oldest out of all there little sisters. She is 4 Loves listening to books on flowers. She loves flowers because of epic! Everyday and night is a new adventure listening to a flower book! She loves bugs now, because she knows some bugs like bees help flowers! Epic also made her want to write her own books on flowers! Also I read to Coco about princesses on epic! And her younger little sisters snuggle up next to her ready for the princess adventure! Also they always have on their princess crowns while listening. We also have tea time everyday. All of my girls love it, and boys do to! We read animal books during tea time because the kids imagine the animals have tea to! Epic has made the learning journey fun for them! Also they love doing the quiz’s, even when they get the quiz questions wrong. They don’t get sad, because reading fun books about trying again on epic, made them never give up and just try again! They always write about the books they read on epic in their thinking tree journals. I see why they call it Epic! Because it truly is epic. It made the journey for my children awesome for their learning. So please buy this app, it’s great for kids. So I know if it works for mine, I bet it will work for you to!
NOT FREE, NOT AS MUCH BOOKS, READ THIS ULTIMATE REVIEW!
Hi, thanks for reading this, the reasons this app is bad are here:
- they LIMITS the amount of reading in the free version, only 1 book a day! What were you thinking, you developer? 1 book a day is too little especially on epic, there’s some books that’s only 28 pages long!
- REALLY expensive, epic have really expensive premium prices and they don’t even have that much books, mostly just THEIR own original books and rarely any real books out in the real world not even worth it, you could go to an online library and just sign up using your phone number and start reading free ebooks too, instead of epic! The only reason I’m still using it is that their original books are pretty cool but they have limits, I can’t even enjoy it,,!,,, I hate epic!
- They just want people to upgrade so they could earn money and that’s their goal. Believe it or not, they’re just aiming for money, you can even see it for yourself by going on the app right now and if you have the free version, there’ll always be this annoying thing that says”Unlock the entire epic library today!” or something like that. To be honest, they don’t make any opportunities for children at ALL, developer, you know that there are some kids with parents who unfortunately cannot afford these bills, right? Well, they really needed a place to read books for free for them to upgrade their reading skills, how do you think 1 book a day is enough?!?! Whoever you are, I think you are really mean, no offense. So that’s why.
You may be saying these purchases is to support your company to continue working on the app, huh? Well, if you REALLY HONESTLY care about children but this app is the way it is right now, I think you guys should shut down your company. This is it, I’m too mad!,
Really disappointed, will not recommend.

Not for struggling readers
My kids love the iPad, as many do. Since we haven’t been going to the library as much I figured I would give Epic a try. I was highly disappointed. I found the platform to be very confusing for even myself. I tried to google, YouTube and even searched their FAQ page for tips and tricks on how to utilize their platform- nothing was helpful. I spent more time trying to figure out how to find an age appropriate book for my children then them actually reading. The books were either too hard with small letters, or they were “read to me” books that were too immature for my newly confident reader. I tried to search by reading level and not many suggestion were available. So I tried to do my own read each on the “parent platform” so that I could search for books and add it to my children’s libraries, this way while they read I was able to find the appropriate books (saving time right?) wrong. I found the books added them to a collection and then couldn’t find them on my children’s page. I am very disappointed with the app. It seems clean, simple and basic but it’s not. It feels messy, disorganized and confusing to use. The read to me feature often went very fast and rather than highlighting the words, it would zoom in- making following along difficult and no better than an audiobook at that point. Dispute all of these flaws I did enjoy a few features; I like that there was a “time incentive” for children, encouraging them to read for at least 20 minuets a day. My son was excited after completing a book and seeing he earned points and that he read for a time and visually was able to see his time progress. I also liked the little egg and that they were able to hatch a buddy to be their reading buddy. My last but favorite feature (as a parent) was the little quizzes that were offered at the end of select stories. Watching my child complete a reason on their own and then be able to comprehend the material and answer questions is a huge part of why I want them reading, this is a unique feature I found to EPIC and it will be missed. Unfortunately the time wasted trying to navigate the app is not worth the money spent or the limited resources we felt were Available easily for our children while reading. I do not recommend this app and I would love to see those features fixed.
I love epic! U should buy! No regrets buying!
Epic is such a good reading app for kids of all ages my kids LOVE epic they read on it EVERY SINGLE day! I catch them reading on epic 24/7 They even go on epic more than fortnite and ROBLOX witch is there go to games kids nowadays are like more mature and “ grown up” I’m glad my 2 kids love epic it grows there brains so much bigger! Sometimes I let them watch videos on epic there kinda like miny YouTube videos for kids most of them are educational! I love epic myself sometimes I catch myself on epic reading away it’s such a good reading app I garentie that if u buy this app for ur child of all ages they will love it as much as my children! Also, that have really good series of chapter books for children that even I enjoy (I will list a few) for example: my pet slime and the fifth grade outlaw (I think that’s what it’s called) BUY THIS APP! U will not regret it! It’s the best reading app ever it’s even better than bookshelf witch most schools tend to use, I think if more schools use epic more kids would understand how fun and brain growing reading actually is! I personally love epic cause of the variety of different books and genres there are! Also they have fun and educational videos my daughter (now 15) still reads on epic all the time sometimes she gets in trouble at school for being on her phone reading on epic while her teacher is teaching the class. She also reads on epic on the bus I have this time thing so I can see how much time she spends on apps and on epic she spends more than 10 hours each day! (I’m so proud of her) I wish more kids were like my kids when it comes to reading but because of epic that can happen! She likes to influence other kids at her school to read on epic! Every test that’s on reading she always gets the highest score u possibly can! Overall this is a AMAZING app 5/5 stars! Love it! Use this app! Great for school! I have only one complaint but it’s very small so it’s still 5/5 stars.
(1 complaint)
Epic has videos that are educational (witch I love) but they also have different videos I have seen slime videos and other non-educational videos but I always let my kids watch them because of how much time they spend reading on epic so I just let them watch those videos
(Back to how much I love epic)
My kids even read epic on weekends but that’s when I make it so they can’t go on epic so that they can relax there brains and play outside or play on video games for how long as they want or go out with friends because of how much time learning they spend! If kids were like this then Saturday-Sunday would be so much fun cause no more epic and they can do whatever fun they want and just relax there brains sometimes I even catch them sneaking on my phone and reading on epic! (Obviously I don’t make them in trouble or anything) I hate when I walk in there room and there watching educational movies and videos cause there brain is working so hard! I say do something else that’s more fun then they clean so I end up getting rid of my cleaning stuff and hiding them in the attic! I wish more kids were like my kids thanks to epic my kids are angels and never fight me on anything and most Important of all...THEY LOVE READING! (Keep up the good work epic! Encourage more kids to love reading the way my kids do!)
(Special thanks to the teachers at quail for introducing us to epic!)

Unknown reactivation
My kids were using Epic because their school was providing some kind of free subscription during the school hours. My kids wanted to read after school, so I subscribed the unlimited access for them at 2021. They got bored with it , and I requested the cancellation of the subscription at Jan 5 2022 and received the confirmation email. So there was no charge for Jan 2022. I thought that it was canceled properly until I noticed that there was monthly charge $9.99 for Epic again starting from Feb 2022 to Jun 2023. I contacted the support asking about it. They said I reactivated the subscription. None of my family member reactivated it. They did not provided any proof of the activation, and just saying that I reactivated and they cannot refund for it. I went through my emails to see if they sent an confirmation email of the reactivation, but NO. They did not send me any email and secretly charging monthly fee for 17 months. I really disappointed because they are connected to the school system somehow. This is scam.
They might reply to this message saying "please contact the support for resolution" but I don't believe it.
Not enough books
Dear Epic: I’m would put a one star but I just found out you guys have had amazing world of gumball comics any way I’m 12 years old an I had this app for a bit I like this app sort of anyway at night It’s not something I’m on usually but they don’t have enough books here and I’ve been having this app and It’s just a wasting space I just wanted to get the words out now really isn’t my favorite app but I hope if you add books maybe I can like this app better and maybe lots more comic books marvel if you can plz do (: Yours truly: Ayden

Wasn’t worth the subscription
This app wasn’t very useful and I got the subscription because I wanted to be able to see my son’s progress in his class but it would never link the 2 accounts and we ended up hardly ever using it. Plus his teacher’s and my other son’s teacher this year don’t even know about it, so it has been a complete waste! Followed by the fact that I didn’t realize when the renewal would happen and so I canceled a day late and am still being charged the $80 for something we don’t even have on our iPads anymore. I am so disgusted with this and Apple for not allowing a refund and Apple won’t even respond to me. Awful customer service as well as a not very useful product. It cost us $160 for absolutely nothing and this is money we do not have to spare.

OK, but it could be better
OK, so I ADORE reading! When I first downloaded this, I LOVED it SO much! But now, I’m very disappointed. When I first got on this app, I saved a lot of interesting books for later in my library. But now I can’t read most of them! And that really upsets me! Not very many people have money to pay for a subscription. I know you kinda have to have something that costs but there are way to many books I can’t read. You could still have the subscription for certain books, but I think it would be really cool if you earn coins off of reading. Like, some books say to read for 20 min. Maybe after they’ve read 20 min, give them at least 10 coins. 10 coins per book depending. And you have to earn a certain amount of coins to buy a book forever. I hope you take these thoughts into consideration because I might have to download a different app to read outside of my home. Please. And thank you.

BEWARE….please read!
My 1st review has ‘disappeared’.
I created an account on 2/20/23, I was setting up a free account with limited access. I was then offered a free 7 day trial of unlimited, so I accepted. You have to put a credit card in to accept. 6 days later on 2/26/23 I cancelled the unlimited so that I would not be charged. The next screen told me to enjoy unlimited until 3/20/23, this puzzles me since I had only agreed to a 7 day free trial. I checked my credit card and I was charged on 2/21 for a month. That is NOT a FREE 7 day trial.
I have reached out to support 3 times, I wrote this review once already. No one has replied and my 1st review from 3/4/23 is gone. If you don’t mind getting charged for something you don’t agree to, then maybe this app is for you.
Read the most recent reviews, there are many unhappy people & they need to respond if they want to grow this business. There is a need for an app like this, but not when it’s run this poorly.

Not thrilled
I’m in the first few days of subscription, and wondering if I’m missing a better way to search? It’s horrible! Literally the poorest search function I’ve yet to experience. Can’t type more than one word without getting hundreds of irrelevant results. Clicking on Boxcar Children in “popular series” offers only three books, although 60+ are available in epic! The series I’ve looked at are completely unsorted, making it very difficult for children to use those independently if they have a continuous story from beginning to end. The thumbnail view, even on large screen tablet, can’t be zoomed, so subtitles and numbers within series are not readable.
I attempted to create collections and assign to my homeschooling student, following the directions on epic’s site, but “My Library” is missing entirely, so can’t get past first step. I’m using the app on iPad Pro.
One good thing is children can comfortably browse featured items, although I’d love to adjust what’s there since my child is mostly reading Halloween titles (in mid November). The library definitely has liberal leaning options (ex. several books about Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Big Bang ‘science’) but none to be found leaning conservatively after much searching.
I’m disappointed that so few Caldecott books are included. Also lacking unabridged classics. There is no shortage of Twaddle.
Not sure this is anything I expected or want to pay for.

The worst. A scam. Please read. Don’t download
The creators here put nooooooooooooo effort in this app. When it’s out of school hours, it says enter your email and even your password. Even when I try to enter my email and password, it doesn’t work. I’m like only 8, and you say to enter my email and password?! Why in the WORLD would you do that? How are kids literally supposed to know their password or even their email?! My parents say that only I know my password and email, but when I put my email and password in, it says “oops! Try email and password again.” It’s like this app wants to log into your account and hack it. It’s not like your password is sooooooooooooooo important to this app. It’s not like this is a app for stealing your data. Even when you press “forgot password?” you hafta enter you password or email. I hate this app so much and this is a scam. I know how you can get epic! on clever! Well my parents downloaded this app because it said on clever “uh-oh, ask a grownup for help!” My parents already signed me in and expected me to have absolutely NO TROUBLE with reading on this app. But after they spent like A WHOLE ENTIRE WEEK trying to sign me in and the did it on Sunday, I STILL CANT GET IN! Even after the connected to my school they signed me in and guess what? THIS APP STILL SAID “UH-OH, ASK A GROWNUP FOR HELP!” The signing in only lasted for one day. Like what the heck! Why do that to poor little children? Sorry for being rude but FIX YOUR STUPID APP! Disappointed.
